It's much easier reading these books while knowing the characters and their actors. I am pretty sure if I read this before watching the drama I wouldn't have given this such a big rating. Not that the story is bad but this is just a love story. Nothing more. Just the story of two people falling in love. One thing I actually liked in the story was the wingmen of the story. Kit and Beam have to be the best wingmen after Boss and Man from 2gether. I low-key wished they showed the friendship between the trio in the drama adaptation too.
Unfortunately I have watched only 2Moons2 and not the first season thus can only provide information regarding it but considering I am a huge fan of Coopter I'm planning on giving the first season a try too.
One of my biggest regrets in life is not learning Thai when I was a child. My parents gave me a choice and I said no. I've never regretted it as much as I do now because there are a few books that I want to read so badly, but aren't translated into English yet. Luckily, this book is one of the few that has been popular enough to have been translated online (largely because it was made into a Thai drama a few years ago). I read this book from two sources on Wattpad:
1) https://www.wattpad.com/459255735-two... This source has the entire translated book. The annoying thing about it is that it is full of screenshots from the show, and emojis. Once you can look past that then you can really enjoy the story. Because of the screenshots and emojis I was worried that it was fanfiction rather than the translated work, but it is the translated work. If you come across other translations it reads the same.
2)https://www.wattpad.com/446659961-2-m... This source has the first 20 chapters translated. I read those chapters from this author because they were slightly more detailed than the first author, and they didn't use emojis and less screenshots. I would recommend doing that then reading from the first source when you've finished the chapters this author has translated.
So this book is called 2 Moons. It follows a boy called Wayo who has just been accepted at the Kantaphat University in the Faculty of Sciences. It's the same university as his middle school/high school crush, Phana, a second-year in the Faculty of Medicine. Wayo is really happy that he managed to get into this prestigious university and be with his crush... who doesn't know that Wayo exists.
At the start of every academic year there is an even called the Moon and Stars competition, where every Faculty can nominate one boy and girl to be their representative and compete to be the Campus Moon and Star. Wayo has the chance to become the "moon" of his faculty, resulting in him and Phana spending more time with each other as he is the previous year's Campus Moon and he must supervise the freshmen participating in the competition.
There's also some other subplot romances, conflicts, and great friendships.
I love this book because I absolutely love the drama. The book is also a lot sweeter than the drama too especially seeing as we get the perspective of Phana sometimes. I really hope I'm able to find the translations of the other three books because I want to know what happens next!
You'll like this book if you like m/m romances, childhood crushes, everyone being gay, it's just so cute and sweet. I do want to note though that if you're not familiar with some of the basics of Thai culture, then you might get a bit confused at times. But both translations do try and bridge those gaps.
(Bonus: This novel clearly doesn't have Seven Eleven as a sponsor, but we've already given so many free advertisement to Seven Eleven, since the Shrimp Wonton Soup from the previous chapter.
5. ''I'll prove it... You can trust Detective Kendaichi with this matter.'' I said confidently. ''I'll prove it before my grandfather's name.'' 4.''I said single, not fresh,'' I growl.''He's human, not seafood.'' 3. I'm thinking about jumping out of the car to dig a hole somewhere and escape to China. 2. Bastard! My dad went as far as Korea just to buy that wallet for me! 1. That's quite a bottom gay quality. (I know I know. Sigh...)
After watching the drama adaptation, 2 Moons: The Series, I knew I had to read the book series. And I have to say, book one is just as amazing, if not better, than season one. I loved all the characters, especially Ming. There were so many deliciously sweet scenes that would make anyone squeal with delight. I can't wait to continue the series and see what else is to come. ^^
The story (in case anyone is unfamiliar) is about a guy named Yo who's in love with his senior, a guy named Pha, and has been since high school. He decides to go to the same college as Pha to be close to him and maybe finally confess. There is a lot more to the story than just this, but that's the main plot of book one. I read the entirety of this on Wattpad, where it has been translated to English.
It's hard to come by this books in English. So this review is for a fan-translated edition for the series.
I really love these love stories. They are sweet, fun and so full of heart. Each culture expresses love differently and it shows. The author let the character's emotion seep in every page. Beautiful young love! All three couples are amazingly sweet and charming.
