Yūsei Matsui (松井優征 Matsui Yūsei?, born January 31, 1981 in Saitama, Japan) is a manga artist known for manga Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. He was an assistant of Yoshio Sawai, the manga artist of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (Shirota Masakage made a cameo appearance in Shinsetsu Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo).
On re-reading this series, I found the characterisation of the characters (besides Nagisa Shiota and Karma Akabane) to be really weak. They tended to be more one dimensional, and tended to only have one memorable feature. This was especially true for the students, as there were so many of them, that I lost track of their names anyway...
Secondly, the mangaka's depiction of the female characters... were really shallow. If it was a series meant to appeal to young boys, then the women were often reduced to being sex crazed (such as Irina) or envious of other women's breast sizes (eg, Kaede Kayono).
If anything, the strength of the series lied in how Koro Sensei related to those around him; how he rediscovered his humanity, strove to be a better teacher, and became much beloved, despite his perversions.

When I first heard the premise of this story, I thought that it was pretty ludicrous. An octopus-like being has to be assassinated, because he was responsible for destroying part of the moon, but he has to be assassinated by a class of junior high school students.
And yet, I kinda fell for this rather silly though charming story. There was something rather funny about how earnest Koro-sensei (the octopus-like being) was, as well as his interest in boobs (well, it is a shounen manga, targeted to young men / boys. There had to be an element of perversion in the manga somewhere) and snacks.
The series gradually explored his back story, as well as the students' developing skills and abilities. There was a strong focus on a handful of the students, almost to the point that I forgot the names of the side characters. The climax was rather silly, though understandable why things went that far by the end of the story. Having said that though, there were some interesting moments (particularly how a typical school's events such as school festival and exams were incorporated into the series, as well as the balance between an individual and parent's interest in one's future). So I guess that while some moments didn't always land, there were enough interesting bits through the series to keep my attention.
let’s say this is my brother’s favourite manga series, but to me it wasn’t THAT incredible. I guess it’s a very good series if you want to start reading mangas, it’s not too long (well i mean 21 little books but i’m sure you’ll manage that) and the story is cute, nothing too bloody or with hidden topics as aot.
Amazing story about an octopus monster who teaches children assassination, friendship, academics, and how to believe in oneself. Great story start to finish. More funny and light-hearted than the title would make you believe. Highly recommended.
This series totally caught me off guard. Never did I think it would be so wonderfully wholesome and funny!! In all honesty I thought it was gonna be a cheap gimmicky porn manga, and man, was I wrong. I cried so hard in the end. What a wonderful story.
Read the whole series a while back. This is such an amazing story. I was not ready for that ending so soon. had me moving for tears. ps. I didn't know manga was also on this.

This was a fun one to binge in 3 days. (I would have done it in two if I'd pushed a little harder on the first day, or if the Viz vault didn't have a limit of 100 chapters a day.) I liked this a lot, to the point where I'm kind of shaking my head and rolling my eyes at my past self who didn't want to give this a try because she thought the premise was too dark.
On a slightly unrelated note, I can't believe that the manga series called Assassination Classroom would turn out to be so wholesome and heartwarming, while the manga series called My Hero Academia would be the one I would quit around chapter 265 for being too angsty. It's kind of messing with my brain.
This series was a great read. I checked this out at a public library just to see if it was something I liked, and it turned out I loved it! I checked out 1 after another until the last book. I got pretty attached to the characters in this, such as karma, koro sensei, and Nagisa. It also has a very great story from comedy to action. When I finished the last book, I was sad, I wished that there was more, but I knew it had to come to an end. They had to eventually kill Koro-sensei to save their planet, but they still had a great year getting more attached to him.

Assassination Classroom is an amazing series. The thought of being able to try and assassinate a teacher is fascinating but actually seeing it is on a whole other level. The main character, Nagisa, is a kindhearted boy whose mother wants him to be a girl. The main side character, Karma, is a sadistic, lazy genius who is always getting in trouble. With these two on E-classes team they will have a much higher chance at defeating Koro-sensei, an octopus that can travel up to 20 mach speed, before he blows up the earth.
