Funny how a wolf can survive after losing half his soul. Twice.
Gabriel is living in a nightmare. His sloppy mistake allowed rogue shifters to kidnap Parker, his best friend and partner. Unwilling to rest and plagued with memories of his twin brother who’d died in his arms, he pushes himself to the limits of endurance in his hunt to retrieve Parker.
Until the day she saves herself.
Parker thought that being secretly in love with her partner was the low point of her career. She was wrong. Forced to compete in shapeshifter cage fights, she commits an unspeakable act she can never undo. With her mind and body too bruised to resume her former job, she’s fighting to keep sane. Keeping away from overprotective Gabriel is even harder.
But their enemies are closing in, hurting shifters and humans alike. With so much to lose, their only solution will be to fight together, even if this brings up truths they’re not ready to face. ce.
Oh how I adore a tale of unrequited love. Ashwood broke my heart in this book, but I forgive her as she more than made up for it. Earlier in this series, we got to know a little about Gabriel and Parker. He, at surface level, is an easy-going player, but we know he suffered a tragedy relating to his brother. She is a no-nonsense, honourable, shifter agent. They are partners. She's long had feelings for him that he has no idea about. This action-packed novel starts where the last book left off, with Parker being kidnapped by the Guard, the shifter guerrilla group. She is forced to take part in cage fights to survive and barely makes it out with her sanity intact. Gabe is desperate to rescue her, and his fear and worry might just be the kick up the backside he needs in order to see her differently. I adored watching him fall. There's something special about seeing a commitment-phobe fall in love. Ashwood's telling swept me along, with gorgeous pockets of emotion in amongst the fast paced story. I can't wait to read the fourth (and last) in this series.
Review copy was received from Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The paranormal romances in the Shift series, are fairly tightly connected so you will do better to read them in order to better understand the world, and know the characters. At the end of Truth or Bear, Parker has been kidnapped, definitely in trouble. Make Him Howl starts right there as the teams hunt for her.
The underlying plot is similar to the last book. Female is kidnapped and they need to find her. But Parker and Gabriel are different than Nik and Claire. Parker and Gabriel have been partners on their team for years. Now they have to deal with Parker's trauma from her time in captivity and the fact she has been in love with Gabriel. Gabriel has some family issues and has to realize what he wants with Parker.
The politics are continuing to explode but the focus here is mostly on the couple and their relationship. The battle aspects are solved almost too easily. I do really enjoy reading these. There are some great modern relationship issues and political issues involved.
This series, so far is in Kindle Unlimited. There's sure to be more since the political battle is still bringing changes and there are more shifters who need mates.
I recently received Make Him Howl - the 3rd book in the Shift series from Zoe Ashwood. I was excited to dive back into this world as I've been a fan of the series since Ashwood's first book - Trust the Wolf and her 2nd - Truth or Bear! Once again, she did not disappoint! * Due to the nature of the plot you should read at least the 2nd book - Truth or Bear before you devour Make Him Howl. The story will make more sense and you will have a better understanding of who the characters are!
So much like Ashwood's other stories this follows two people we have already been sort of introduced through the first two books but this time it's their time to shine. Parker was seen quite a lot in Truth or Bear as she is friends with Claire Thibault. Gabriel was seen in Trust the Wolf as he is Jason's cousin. It's kind of a neat tie in for all the books characters and cameos from past main characters which is something I really love! * I enjoyed Parker and Gabriel's story immensely. It was provocative and steamy in all the right places. Ashwood doesn't shy away from erotic scenes and that's evident again in this novel. But also be prepared for your heart to swoon as the 'work' partners have many will they, won't they moments! The tension was goooood. * Parker's character goes through some PTSD from a trauma and I appreciate the complexity of this and how it affects her as a person and within her relationships. I felt it was written well and realistic to what she had gone through.
Gabriel lost his brother when he was young and it shows that he's still not dealing with it properly but taking steps to move in the right direction.
Both of these aspects for these characters brought complexity to the situations and conversations that they were in. I appreciated these factors as it heightened the story for me. * Perhaps my favourite scenes (besides the erotic ones) were the conversations that both Parker and Gabriel had with each of their parents. Also, Parker's parents are badass.
As they are both shapeshifters I found the moments when they were wearing fur some of the best scenes as well. I think Ashwood writes these kind of scenes better and better in each book! * Recommend? Yes! This is a fantastic addition to the Shift series and for the expansion of the world. I really enjoyed Parker and Gabriel's story and relished the tension between them even more. I would rate it R for it's erotic content. Definitely check this one out!!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Make Him Howl, and of that I’m very grateful. Release Date; 04/04/19!
Make him Howl is the third book that Zoe has released, and my gosh she keeps getting better and better! This book is fast paced but still includes all the little details that help build the book. Zoe balances the mixture of action, suspense, conflict and romance so well in this book it’s perfect.
Parker is one strong independent heroine, and despite what she goes through in the beginning of the book, she is still one amazing agent in the other side, she’s just changed a little she has more of a Borden look on life.
Gabriel is one tough man, after the lose of his twin brother at such a young he joins SANA to try and right the wrongs, but whilst doing so he doesn’t realise that he is closing him self off from relationships and is completely blind to the fact that his partner is in love with him.
Once the cat is out of the bag and Parker reveals that she has feeing for Gabriel everything changes for both of them. During figure out there relationship though the world is still turning and they still have a big fight ahead of them.
I absolutely loved this book, and I recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspensful, action packed romance! I suggest going and preordering now, you’ll want to read it as soon as it’s out!
Now, Bring on Only Human I need to knew what happens next!
Gabriel has spent the last month searching for his partner, Parker, and exhausting himself in the process. He's afraid that they've hit a brick wall in finding her when he gets a phone call from her pleading for a ride home. He drops everything and takes off after her on his motorcycle, only to find her stuck in her fox form, exhausted and shivering. Doing the only thing he can do, he wraps her in one of his sweatshirts and zips her to him under his jacket to get her back to his home. as thankful as Parker is about him coming to her rescue, she knows she can't stay with him because she's been in love with him from the start and he doesn't feel the same way. Or does he? 💕💗🔥💕
This is such a great friends to lovers romance that will give you all the feels you could want. It's full of angst and all those other pesky emotions like lust and love. ❣️
I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another solid edition to the Shift series! This one has a deliciously slow-burn romance, which I always enjoy. The tension is high, and the emotions Parker struggles with as she sees her unrequited love day after day feel painfully real. Parker also suffers from PTSD and anxiety, which is a nice addition to the paranormal romance genre and will resonate with many readers. One of my favorite things is getting to see couples from previous books in sequels, and Zoe Ashwood definitely delivers. All in all, this is a fantastic series, and I’m glad it’s not over yet.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "MAKE HIM HOWL" OMG!!!! This is a must have book you'll want to have this series is extremely well written it's full of intense drama, intrigue, suspense, danger, abuse, kidnapping, secrets, heartache, passion. Parker Bourne is a Shade who works for SANA and has been kidnapped by Reid Maxwell he's from the Guard put in a cage use to fight other shifters to the death and their kept in discusting condition. Gabriel West feels guilty because he blames himself for his partner Parker being kidnapped he also works for SANA will he be able to save her in time you must get this amazing book with fantastic characters that draw you in to find out. This is a awsome series you don't want to miss I definitely recommend I can't wait for the next book in this series Zoe Ashwood did an phenominal job writing this story.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I love this series, this is the third book and I enjoyed every page! I really enjoy good characters as much as a good book, and these characters are amazing. I've read each of these books within days of getting them, I can't put them down. When I HAVE to - because you know, life, I can't wait get back to them. These are beautifully written romance novels, with some steam, and a wonderful story backing them up. I love the strong female roles, no damsels. This story in particular was probably my favorite so far. I love the angst you can feel, and of course the ending is everything I'd want it to be.
If you haven't read any of the books, you can read these as stand alone, but start with the first and read them in order if you can! I highly recommend the series!
I am a Beta reader for this book. This is the third book in the Shift Series by Zoe Ashwood. I loved it from the first page. The characters are so likeable and well developed. This Gabriel and Parker's story. Gabriel is struggling with letting anyone in as he is still devestated by the loss of his brother. Parker is broken and hurting from what she went thru in captivity from the Guard. It picks up where the last book left off so I recommend reading in order. The story keeps the pages turning!!! Parker if strong and feisty and Gabriel is strong and compassionate and learning what love is. I hope for many more books by Zoe.
Gabriel and Parker are partners. She gets kidnapped but escapes. Gabriel blames himself but he knows there is another reason. Parker is in love with him but he won’t see reason. She tries to back off and leave him be but she can’t. These two make for one exceptional read. Excellent writing.
In this 3rd book of the series, it keeps getting better and better. The story line has continued from the previous books and I found myself more engaged because of it. The author didn’t shy away from the emotional damage that Parker suffered. She didn’t offer a quick fix, instead the plot was enhanced by both Parker’s and Gabriel’s angst. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I absolutely love this book! Another amazing book by Zoe Ashwood! The characters are fantastic. Their love story is so wonderful to follow. Their strength despite their many conflicts makes them so interesting and perfect for each other. The book is well written and detailed. There is a great balance of action packed suspense, conflict, romance and steamy love scenes. The ending was perfect and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend this series!
Loved, loved this book. It is well written with an excellent plot that keeps your interest right up to the end. I got this from the author as an ARC. Another fantastic book from her. A book with a HEA that left me feeling content and with a sense of well being.
I glad we didn’t have to wait for Parker and Gabriel’s story. Even though it was definitely one of the more tragic stories to be told it was one of the best. Gabe and Parker have been partners for years. And when she is kidnapped he will do anything to get her back. But when she finally returns she’s not the Parker he once knew.
Parker has let the time she spend kidnapped change her life, and now she is lost and doesn’t know what to do.
Gabriel and Parker will have to fight for their live and their lives in this amazing book!
Still overall enjoying this series! Parker was a great character, and I really liked how this book handled plot, pacing, emotions, etc. in the first half. Also, Claire's political plans here addressed a big issue I had with the last book. A little late, but better late than never. I had a couple quibbles with Make Him Howl, particularly on the back half, but would still recommend picking up the series for fans of shifter romances.
The following quibbles are spoilery (hence the tag) and more for my own notes than anything else (since the private notes box apparently has a character limit). Serious spoilers ahead. Read at your own peril.
I didn't love where the book ended. It's not a cliffhanger, but I wanted to see full closure on Parker's story arc, and that required a final end to certain stuff.
Side note: a couple of typos here and there, and the punctuation suddenly switched to British English and left out the periods after "Ms" near the end.
Another great story in this series! Her books just keep getting better and better and I don’t want this series to end. This book is packed with so much action and intrigue it kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Slow burn romances are my favorite and this book has that in spades. I have been waiting for Gabriel and Parker’s story and the author doesn’t disappoint. They are partners and Parker gets taken and Gabriel blames himself. When she finally escapes she calls Gabriel because she realizes she has feelings more than friendship towards him. But like all man, paranormal and human alike, Gabriel balks and that sends Parker into a tailspin and she runs. Will Gabriel finally come to the realization that he has feelings for Parker before it’s too late? I can’t wait for this series to continue!! I highly recommend this book!
This is about Parker and Gabriel. They are partners but she is taken and made to fight but she escapes and calls him. But things are not the same when they see each other again. Parker finally talks Gabe that she care for him as more than partners and then when he acts like himself she runs and now that he finally realizes that he feels the same will she came back to him or has he pushed her away for the last time? This book shows even paranormal men are not all there in the brain and feelings department and it takes them getting knocked in the head for things to finally get figured out
Third in the series which I have been enjoying. Gabriel struggled with his feelings for Parker through most of the story. A couple times I just wanted to smack him in the head. Parker went through some horrific experiences, and she worried no one would want her any more. Their chemistry was explosive and overcame all doubts and obstacles. As the main story continues, I hope to see more of this couple. I recommend this story, and I look forward to the next installment.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is the third book in this series ad though it can be read as a stand alone it would be far better to read the entire series in order as there is an underlying story throughout
We have already met Parker and Gabriel in the previous stories We know that Gabriel has suffered the loss of his brother and consequently he keeps every one away and locks himself behind a wall. When his partner Parker is captured and forced to fight in the shifter cages he will do whatever it takes to save her. Is this the thing that will him start to feel again
This is another great story from this author. Her books just keep getting better and better as the series progresses. This story was definitely a slow burn romance but it was packed with so much action, suspense and intrigue you forget about the fact that you want the two main characters to just do it already!!!
Great Story - Great Characters - Fantastic Writing. I can't wait for the next book.
Wow!! Gabriel and Parker’s book just hits different! There’s so many layers to peel back, so much drama/action/angst.
Gabriel does everything to find Parker, and Parker just fights to survive, then she calls and he runs to get her. The pain I felt for Parker, not only with the torture she’s gone through, but her love for Gabriel. Then everything comes out and Gabriel fights for their relationship.
After reading the first two books in this series I was super excited about this one! Gabriel and Parker’s story is your classic “unintentional friend zone” with Gabriel being just completely blind at the beginning. I loved the action thrown in and it really worked well with the romance. Can’t waif for the next book!!
Gabriel and Parker are partners. She gets kidnapped but escapes. Gabriel blames himself but he knows there is another reason. Parker is in love with him but he won’t see reason. She tries to back off and leave him be but she can’t. These two make for one exceptional read. Excellent writing.
I've really enjoyed this series and am super excited for the next one! That said, Parker and Gabriel weren't my favorite couple from the bunch throughout most of the book. Just lots of pent up emotions and thoughts and a long road to being together. A couple of times, I just wanted to shake Gabriel and yell at him that what he is describing is love.
2.5 Stars I was not a fan of this story. In fact I couldn’t get into it and just didn’t care about what happened to the characters that I stopped reading at 86% after forcing myself to get to this point.
I loved it! This is a wonderful paranormal romance. It has steam with sweetness. Emotion, danger and suspense.. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.
