Lady Cristina Ducat might not be as clever as her sisters, but she knows when action is required. Her mother seems set on arranging an unwanted marriage for Cristina, but Cristina has plans of her own. She’s got the perfect man all picked out. The problem? The Earl of Clearwood, Sirius Renwall, keeps getting in her way. Not only is Si annoying beyond measure with his dark and brooding demeanor, but he makes her heart beat in the most curious and exhilarating way.
Lady Cristina is a spoiled brat. Si wants nothing to do with her, or with the bet he made weeks ago that requires him to collect a kiss from her. So what if she’s stunningly beautiful? Who cares that she’s in trouble? Except...Si does care. For the more he gets to know her, the more he realizes that her brash façade hides a heart that loves fiercely. The question then becomes, is her love strong enough to fight back the demons that have plagued him since the last time he gave away his heart? Or is he destined to have his heart for the second and final time?
This is a standalone romance but is part of a five book series with a FREE prologue:
How to Reform a Rake Don’t Tell a Duke You Love Him Meddle in a Marquess’s Affairs Never Trust an Errant Earl Never Kiss an Earl at Midnight Make a Viscount Beg
Gotta love a series that revolves around a bet with a gypsy! Guaranteed to be filled with humor, heart and heat, and just a little more humor, too! Once again, Tammy Andresen made me smile with satisfaction with NEVER TRUST AN ERRANT EARL!
Imagine five rakes, all happy with their loose ways, falling one by one for five proper sisters, yes, this is the stuff sighs of contentment are made of, tales that never get old, but always feel fresh, a little saucy and just plain fun reading. Tammy Andresen never disappoints me with how deliciously brilliant she builds her stories, creates her characters and sets the stage for romance!
This time out, The Earl of Clearwood falls under Cupid’s spell for Lady Cristina Ducat, who THINKS she has her eyes set on another. She is nothing like what Sirius normally is attracted to in a woman, but the gypsy knows her stuff and one kiss is all it took!
Have an hour or two to journey back to Ye Olde Olden Days? Want a little spice and a lot of “gotcha” moments? Need a happy ending, but love the trip to that last page? Highly recommended for light, quick reading!

❤️❤️❤️❤️ 💋💋 I really enjoy reading Tammy’s books , and this series is so different . 5 luscious Rakes , 5 beautiful Ducat Sisters , 1 disaster of a mother , 1 Distasteful Lord Ralston and a Gypsy who knows the future . These ingredients makes up a wonderful series with a difference, it’s so fresh and easy to read . It’s quirky, amusing , a little tense in places and also beautifully romantic . I received an Arc of this book, and chose to submit a review
Never Trust an Errant Earl is the third book in Tammy Andresen’s How to Reform a Rake series, and it’s another winner from the author. As a big Tammy Andresen fan, I’m always eager for her next release, yet this series has an additional layer of fun to it.
Although the books in the How to Reform a Rake series work perfectly fine as standalone novels, I would recommend reading them in order. Things build wonderfully throughout the series, and it’s great to see each additional layer as it comes into play. In fact, Never Trust an Errant Earl built upon the two prior books in an unexpected manner and having knowledge of certain details adds that wee bit more this one.
As always, however, Never Trust an Errant Earl is filled with the classic Tammy Andresen trademarks. The characters are great, the chemistry is wonderful, you’re sucked into the history, and there is plenty of drama to keep you entertained. This may not be my favourite Tammy Andresen story, but the family in this series are some of my favourites.
Happiness is seeing another addition to this wonderful series by Tammy Andresen!! It has been so much fun and I could not wait to see another rake taken down by one of the Ducat sisters!! This is the story of Si and Lady Christina Ducat. When he and his four friends had been traveling together they were standed at a brothel. They they ended up in a room with a gypsy named Vadonna and a predication for the five of them. To top it all off they had made a bet to each other to kiss one of the five Ducat sisters! Now, two of his friend's had married one of the same sisters! Christina Ducat was a spoiled brat! Or at least that was Si's first thought after he got over how flawlessly beautiful she was when he saw her. But no, no, he would not kiss her as the gypsy predicted. Right? Christina's mother was set on getting her married off, but she had her own plan and a man picked out. That is if Si would get out of her way! A delightful, fun, romantic and some tension that pulls the story through to a ending that will leave a heartsmile!
This has to be my favorite Tammy Andresen series yet! Never Trust an Errant Earl is book 3 in How To Reform A Rake series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read the whole series…it is that good! This regency series revolves around 5 rogues, 5 sister, a gypsy and a bet. It is soooo good. Tammy writes the most charming character and such original stories and if you just want a feel good story than this is the one for you. This story has amazing banter, a secret affair, protection, kindness, chasing after the wrong person, greed, sickness and love.I highly recommend you read this book or any of Tammy Andresen’s book as you won’t be disappointed!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This series is getting even better with each new book. During the first chapter I do worried if I would even like Cristina, she was drawn as a spoiled brat then I adored how she bickered with Sirius, answering with claws to his scratches. Cristina was so much more than any first impression she gives. Yes, she has a habit to act first and think later, but it is the way she is and it is always with a good reason in her mind. Si is a good man who was wounded by a past lover, since he avoids love like the plague. Their non wooing story was cute and funny, they do everything the wrong way but as they are destined mates, they find their path to one another. For a short read, it was full of actions, friendship and family’s love and some sexy time. Can’t wait to read Victoria and Key’s story.
Cristina Ducat, one of five sisters, may seem flighty, but beneath her facade is a tender heart. Sirius, the Earl of Clearwood, is bound by fate from a tarot card belonging to a gypsy. A kiss between Cristina and Si will end as husband and wife. As evil intentions are close, Si must protect the sister he loves.
Never Trust an Errant Earl, Book 3 of the How to Reform a Rake series, was about Lady Cristina "Chris" Ducat, the twin sister to Lady Victoria Ducat and third daughter of the Earl of Rosemond, and Lord Sirius "Si" Renwall, the Earl of Clearwood, a friend of Max, the Duke of Longley and Rex, the Marquess of Highwater, Chris' brothers-in-law. Shortly before Christmas, Si and his four friends (The Duke of Longley, the Marquess of Highwater, the Earl of Kissinger, and the Viscount of Averstone) had all made a bet with each other and a gypsy fortune teller named Vadoma that they each had to collect a kiss from one lady of worth. Oddly enough, the five ladies of worth were all sisters...the five daughters of Lord Harold Rosemond, the Earl of Ducat. The lady Si had to kiss was Lady Christina. With two of the five sisters now married to two of his friends (the Duke of Longley married Lady Lily and the Marquess of Highwater married Lady Camille), that left only three of each the men to follow suit and marry the other three sisters, and that made Si nervous. Having been hurt by a woman in his past, he had absolutely no intention of being hurt ever again, so his heart was hardened and guarded. Lady Chris, who often made rash decisions and damn the consequences, was trying to avoid an unwanted marriage her mother was scheming to arrange for her, so she ran away to her sister, Lily's home for aid. Lady Rosemond seemed bent on seeing one of her daughters married to Lord Ralston, it didn't matter which one. However, Chris believed herself to be in love with someone other than their mother's choice. That "someone" was definitely NOT the Earl of Clearwood for she believed not only was he far too intense, but that he was also a grumpy and judgmental man. Si, for his part, wanted nothing to do with Chris either. He believed her to be an attention-seeking, trouble-making, selfish, spoiled princess who had a penchant for dramatics. Unfortunately for both, the whisper of attraction between them was instantaneous...and smoldering hot from the first moment they met and it showed no sign of waning. A single touch sent sparks shooting through them both. Every time their eyes met or they lightly touched, desire hit deep in the pit of their stomachs. Even as they verbally sparred with each other every time they were together, it did not quench the chemistry building between them. After rescuing the remaining three sisters from the vicious claws of their demented mother and Lord Ralston, Si had a few questions for Chris that, when answered, showed him the truth about her. She wasn't a vain, selfish, attention-seeker. He realized that not only Chris, but all of the Ducat sisters loved one another fiercely enough to be very protective of each other. The drama and angst were both quite elevated in this story, but not as high as the chemistry and passion between Si and Chris. The humor? It was well placed and well meted out. It definitely alleviated a great deal of the tension that the characters had to face, and it just kept getting better the more humor was applied to the story. This was another lovely story with a much deserved HEA but, once again there were grammatical errors that detracted from it and caused the rating to be less than a five-star worthy book. Nor will it be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
This is an OK Regency romance, with a likable couple, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 3 stars from me.
I would recommend that you read the prologue "How to Reform a Rake" before starting this series. I'm not sure where all it can be found, but it was available at the end of the boxed set volumes 4-6 of Wicked Lords of London. You should also read the novellas in this series in order, starting with "Never Tell A Duke You Love Him".
My first issue with this story is that the author really needs to hire a better editor. There were lots of editing errors, and they were very distracting.
Because this is a short novella, it suffers from a lack of character development. That's the main reason I tend to prefer full-length books, and not novellas.
Cristina is OK in this story, but she did seem a little spoiled -- and she really did like getting attention. But I really wanted her and her sisters to stand up to her mother a little more. Her mother was absolutely awful.
Si (Sirius) was OK, too, but he had a hard time dealing with his difficult past. It did help him to understand Cristina, but it also caused problems in their relationship.
I liked that Cristina and Si found their HEA, but found their instalove to be unbelievable.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Making a wager with friends seems to be resulting in some unexpected and long-lasting consequences, and one of the men has no plans to become entangled in the same situation as two others. But sometimes what a person wishes for their future takes an unforeseen turn, and then what is least desired becomes something that this individual cannot live without. I truly enjoyed this delightful romance about a man and woman discovering their initial critical remarks may not be how they feel about one another before long. Tammy Andresen has created a very engaging story, where the characters have distinctive personalities and the imaginative premise kept me constantly entertained.
When Sirius Renwall, the Earl of Clearwood, took part in a bet with other men, he never thought any of their lives would be changed. But when he sees what can happen when certain choices are made, he definitely will not be kissing the Ducat sister chosen for him. Yet when the woman whom he plans to avoid has some trouble in her life, he somehow ends up trying to help. Then there is also the problem of there being a powerful attraction between Si and Cristina Ducat, but he knows better than to let his feelings dictate his actions.
The stories in the How to Reform a Rake series have all been very enjoyable, and the third story has plenty of fascinating occurrences. Christina has been known to make choices without thinking about the outcome, yet becoming acquainted with Si has her taking the time to carefully consider several wonderful possibilities. His coming in contact with her is also an eye-opener for him, as he has closed himself off when it comes to seeking a lasting relationship. As various situations play out, this couple learns some valuable lessons. NEVER TRUST AN ERRANT EARL is an enchanting story with believable characters and heartfelt emotions. Rating – 4.5 Stars
Five friends make a bet on a snowy Christmas Eve that each one will kiss a Ducat sibling Lady Cristina Ducat might not be as clever as her sisters, but she knows when action is required. This is the third book in the series & whilst it could be read on its own the whole series is lovely & leaves you with a feel good factor. The characters are well portrayed & very likeable. Si & Cristina are delightful, they are attracted to each other but she aims to marry someone else & he’s a confirmed bachelor, when they are thrown together they come to like & respect each other whilst falling in love & of course there is that bet & Vadoma My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I absolutely love this series -Tammy has created stories that are different, fun, romantic & the characters are ones to fall in love with in every book in the series! It starts out with 5 handsome, rich, roguish bachelors who all want to stay that way but a bet on a snowed-in Christmas Eve (overseen by the gypsy, Vadoma) has them all agreeing to each kiss one of the beautiful Ducat sisters by drawing Tarot cards.
The 3rd book finds Lady Cristina Ducat running to her sister after being sent away by her mother. Lady Christina interrupts her sister's wedding & all 5 sisters must meet to solve Christina's dilemma.
Si, Lord Sirus Renwall is a guest at the wedding & one of the men that took part in the bet to steal a kiss from a Ducat sister - Christina was the card he drew. He; however, does not want to participate - he doesn't want marriage & now the 2nd of his friends was about to marry a Ducat sister.
This book had it all for me - humor, hilarious sisters, suspense, drama, some spicy parts, romance, love, action & a HEA! I can't wait for the next in the series & would highly recommend this book & the whole series to all historical romance readers!
A surly rake and a desperate lady.....makes for light-hearted and humourous reading. Storming her sister's wedding in a bid to escape her mother's malicious plans, Cristina finds herself being weighed and found wanting by Sirius, Earl of Clearwood. However, that is no concern of hers as all Cristina Ducat wants is a husband that loves her and a way out of having to deal with her mother. However, Cristina's new brother-in-law ropes Si in to assist with keeping Cristina safe, knowing that Lady Rosemond will not let up until she has achieved her own objectives. In protecting Cristina, Si discovers that he is not as immune to her charms as he would have liked to think. The story is romantic, entertaining and made me laugh as the group of friends go down one at a time like nine pins at the feet of the Ducat sisters. This novelette is part of a series but it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Never Trust an Errant Earl is the third novella in the How To Reform a Rake series. This is a sweet enough historical romance but the poor editing detracted from the story. The Hero is the Earl of Clearwood, however, in chapters two, seven, and fourteen, he’s the Earl of Clearwater.
A rogue’s reform can have the most unlikely beginning. When a Duke and his four friends are forced to stay at the only accommodations available in snow covered Canterbury, a brothel, because all respectable inns are full, their lives take a dramatic turn. A gypsy convinces them to tempt fate and enter a bet.
Don’t Tell a Duke You Love Him: 3 stars: Max & Lily Meddle in a Marquess’s Affairs: 3+ stars: Rex & Camille Never Trust an Errant Earl: 3- stars: Sirius & Cristina
Cristina Ducat
Sirius Renwall, the Earl of Clearwood
Sirius and Cristina had a combative start to their relationship. Their relationship was predictable. Their romance was predictable.
Never Trust An Errant Earl by Tammy Andresen is a spectacular historical romance. Ms. Andresen has given readers a book that will keep them glued to their reading device. Cristina has run to her sister Lily when her mother refused to accept her choice of men as a husband, interrupting her sister Camille's wedding. Si, Lord Sirius Renwall, took part in a bet to steal a kiss from a Ducat sister. A bet he wants no part of, especially since the first two kisses ended in marriage. He wants no part of Cristina or marriage. Si and Cristina's story is loaded with drama, humor, sexy bits, action and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Tammy Andresen. Never Trust An Errant Earl is book 3 of the How to Reform a Rake Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from a third party. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tammy Andresen came up with a great concept. Five friends meet a gypsy while they are snowed in. They make a bet to see who can kiss one of the 5 Ducat sisters. They gypsy has them pick a card from her deck to decide which sister they will kiss. In this third book of the series, 2 of the sisters have not only been kissed but married and now sister number 3 is in the crosshairs. Although the Earl, Sirus Renwell has refused to take part in the bet he hasn't met his match yet. When the two meet it is like oil and water - they both agree that there will be no kissing. Until hey do. The characters are fun and this is a qucik read. You can't help but love watching these 2 fall in love and find their happily ever after. The only thing that would make this book better would be if there was an epilogue after the wedding. I received an advanced copy of this book>
Lord Si and Lady Christina met at the wedding of her sister Camille that she interrupted. Christina was the one he was to kiss. He thought she was empty headed, she acted before she thought. The girls mother kept tying to marry each of the girls to the same rake, and they didn't know why. Thinking she was in love she wanted to have the sisters approve of her intended first. When Si met him he knew the man just wanted her dowry. Si wasn't going to let her marry a rake and be dumped when her money was gone so he agreed to marry her himself. What happens next will keep you reading until the end.
I love the Ducat sisters and their love and support of each other in very trying family times. The gypsy has told the fate of 5 bachelor friends and it involves one bet that each must kiss a Ducat sister. What she didn’t mention and they soon find out that a kiss leads to much more where the sisters are concerned. Si and Cristina have plans that don’t include each other nor a kiss. But sometimes fate knows better... I loved this fun story and excited to read each sisters story!
Cristina interrupts her sisters wedding and Si Lord Sirius sees her as flighty and selfish! Cristina believes she has affection for Lord Jameson! This is unexpected and certainly not in keeping with the bet or gypsy fortune! Sparks fly between Cristina and Si humour, dancing, pistols mayhem and marriage proposals make up this fast moving story! Puking on a man's Hessian boots who just proposed to your lady!?? Well the path to true love is seldom smooth but this one is hilarious!
This was just as delicious as the first 2 books in the series. I intrigued by the fact that the Earl took care of Christine while she was so ill, even though he didn't want to get married to her. Fate has a way of dealing with those who don't believe. Make a bet with fate and you'll lose every time. Ms Andersen has blended all these beliefs and thoughts together so effortlessly that you'll be a believer without realizing it.
The Ducat sisters are full of love and support of each other and it continues in the latest addition to the series, Never Trust an Errant Earl. This is Cristina and Si’s story. She is intelligent and full of spirit. Si soon finds that he had been all wrong about her. I am enjoying watching each of the five bachelor friends fall for their Ducat sister.
She was impulsive by nature, but where those that she loved were concerned, she was tenacious and ferocious in their defense. He had a history, as far as love gone wrong went, and didn't believe in sentiment and therefore appears standoffish to anyone who encounters him. However, time spent together, proved they had a lot in common.
If you liked the other books in the series, you will love this one. Cristina is endearing, and Si has committment issues but turns out to be a pretty good guy.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
This tale of Tammy Andersen is book three in How To Reform A Take series. It's a fetching tale of love. The Earl and his friends all come together to make great characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it in one day; but, I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
Tammy Andersen just keeps writing one outstanding love story after another. This book may be one of her best. It has just enough suspense and intrigue to keep it really interesting. I would recommend this book to anyone.
This is a good story, only I got a little confused about Si's real name.is his name Clearwater ore Clearwood? The author uses both and Si isn't always speak in that Scotish accent.
