Another quick read from this author ... pretty same story line as with the previous one ..
h goes to H, determined to become his mistress but the twist is that this H is sure from the beginning that h means more to him than just a mistress as h is also sure she wouldn't become just anyone's mistress ...
I liked that this h had something extra; a quick brain and an aptitude for gambling ... all in all enjoyable reading ... loved that villain from the first book, the mad hatter woman and her equally villainous brother got their comeuppance ... maybe the mad hatter woman will get some more in the third book in this series ... fingers crossed ...

Not a bad story but too similar to the previous book. The Barnes girls are very lucky to find such handsome lovers. I know we’re told not to take the stories too seriously but it felt too repetitive.

My how I've changed.
I'd probably like this more if I had read it at a different time in my life.
But this one has no build up of the characters coming together. It just pretty much 'Slammed' into them going at it. It left me Unconnected to the two mc's.
And it bored me.
So unfortunately it's a dnf for me at chapter 4.

Since I read the first book in this series, I wanted to continue reading it.
It was a different story than the previous one.
Honor is already ruined because of her twin sister’s faux pas but even if she is willing to try carnal pleasures, she has other skills that can help her make a living.
As a good she is at gambling, she has no problems to lose if it brings the man she is attracted to in her bed.
Despite her circumstances, Honor wears perfectly her name, she stands for those she cares for and keeps her wits when she needs it the most.
Sebastian is self-made-man, he gambles in life and trade but knows the risks he takes, until someone tries to corner him and stake his prize as his. But thanks to a lucky hand or some fate trick, he wins an inestimable prize as Miss Honor Barnes warm personality and scorching hot body. Soon she becomes quite indispensable to Sebastian.
It was a fun and steamy read with two unusual characters who complement themselves wholly.

The first thing that came to mind when I sat down to write my review is that this author can write!
She has a basic theme to this series (so far) and though each story can be read as a stand-alone, there are so many things tying them into each other that I found myself being drawn in as if I were part of this interesting family and living within them and their lives and their hearts.
These are three amazing and very readable romances with very 'hot' themes, yet each is its own remarkable story.
I loved all the characters, the good ones and the really evil ones too while each story had me enthralled and kept me totally entertained.
Thanks, Merry Farmer, for supplying the free boxset to 'uplift our souls' during this very serious time of the Covid-19 world-wide lockdown. It has certainly lifted my spirits for a while.

The Incorrigible Courtesan, Book 2 of the When Wallflowers Were Wicked series, was about Miss Honor Barnes, twin sister of Miss Verity Barnes (now Lady Verity Manford, the Marchioness of Landsbury), daughter to the late Lord Richard Barnes, Baron of Halesworth, and wealthy tradesman, Mr. Sebastian Boothe.
When her sister, Verity, accidentally ruined her chances to be accepted by high society, she also ruined it for her two sisters, Honor and Sophia. When Verity came up with a way to support herself, she decided to teach her sisters all she knew so they, too, could follow along should they decide to. What her sister failed to see as she made her decision to become the mistress of a marquess was that the woman she had insulted at their first ball had cruelly and deliberately turned everyone who was anyone in society against her sisters as well as herself, thus making the lives of Honor and Sophia unbearable. Honor, unlike her twin, wasn't as assertive and, therefore, a bit uncertain as to how to dig herself out of ruination. However, she was clever enough to come up with other ways to achieve a similar goal as her sister.
Sebastian, having recently survived a hurricane on a return merchant trip to India, was in peril of losing the fortune he had acquired all because of the underhanded machinations of the cheat, Lord James Grey, who was trying to convince all of London that Sebastian was not the rightful owner of said property.
After altering several of her gowns to be more tempting and purchasing some masks, Honor found herself visiting Mrs. Follett’s gaming hell where she began playing cards against the gentlemen who were also clientele of the establishment.
So many twists and turns in this book, yet each and every one of them brought about one more shock of pleasure and astonishment at how this author can take what the nobles once thought of as "the dregs of society" and make them into so much more than the nobility themselves. The emotions that filled the pages of this book were vast, including humor, angst, drama, passion (OH the passion!!), and even righteous anger. The passion (did I mention it already?!) was definitely five-alarm, smoking HOT, and it showed a side of the 1800s society that many deny existed. This was definitely worth a five-star rating and to be added to the Keeper for the Shelves collection.

5 STARS, HISTORICAL ROMANCE DRAMA with FLAIR
5 STARS to Merry Farmer for her exciting sensual well written storyline of Book 2 in the Series: When the Wallflowers were Wicked. A good BLURB is provided. A lot of the characters are ones that were introduced in Book 1 and that just allows the reader a little more information to get to know them.
Lady Honor met Sebastian a working man & gambler & the best friend of her brother-in- law. He had also recently came back from India on one of 2 ships out of a convoy of 4 to 5 ships that investors had sent to return with spices, silks, & other trade goods of high value. Only 2 ships returned the one Thomas had sent
& Sebastian's. The other ships went down in horrible
weather situations.
They 1st met at a wedding, then a gaming hell, & then Honor presents herself to Sebastian at his Townhouse as his prize. Yet, first she has to prove she, Honor is Nightingale sexy card playing woman. These 2 are interesting in how they relate to each other & have both an intellectual & sexual relationship.
Unfortunately, life isn't ever simple! Lord Grey has disputed that Sebastian's ship is the one he traveled both to India on & back. Furthermore, he directly had a say what was purchased for that ship to carry. It was his investment. Lord Grey claims it is the one he claimed & somehow the official copy everyone signed at the Barrister's office has Grey's name. Sebastian must prove Grey somehow forged the official copy because his business depended on it.
It is wonderful to go on the journey with Honor & Sebastian to discover if they have love and to prove the ship is indeed the one Sebastian had claimed from the beginning. I loved Honor getting to know other women who treated her as an equal rather than scum under their shoe, like some Ladies of the Ton.

If you're s stickler for proper ladies that play by social rules, this may not be for you.
If your open to outrageous ladies who thumb their noses at society and embrace their passions, you'll enjoy books in this series.

As for the other books in this series, I do recommend reading my series review for the first book collection.
The Incorrigible Courtesan (book 2): 3.5 Stars
The beginning of this book felt a little disjointed coming off from the previous book and starts by giving a bunch of exposition of stuff we don't need to told and is revealed passively in the first chapters. Only really an issue in the first chapter and probably works better if not read immediately after the previous book; the way it explained all first (stuff a sequel reader should already know) and didn't leave room for things that would be explained passively later really threw me off.
Following that though the story went quite well, with my only real complaint being how Honor did seem to have taken a bit of a sudden shift from her prior attitude toward being sexually promiscuous in the first book (and in such a short time frame). This probably needed a little more development on the author's part, but is still believable enough if not a bit abrupt and needing just a bit more in that department.
Lastly I did find the way the side conflict concerning Lord Gray to be a bit contrived, or at least the way in which the characters approached it as though nothing could possibly go wrong with the plan (or it seemed that way given the lack of possible concern for failure or things blowing up in their face). Lord Gray himself also isn't a great villain character to begin with.
The romance overall though was a nice little love story and an enjoyable read.

This is a lighthearted fun read and as it can be read in a few hours, it will certainly brighten your day. Honor, like her sisters, is very forthright in what she wants but she also has a caring nature and is loyal to those she loves. Honor also has a brilliant mind for card playing. She is also very good at giving a set down to those who need it! Sebastian is a tradesman and although wealthy, is looked down on by the aristocracy. Honor and Sebastian were so right for each other and I enjoyed how they worked together when Sebastian was faced with a serious problem. I love it when the villain gets his/her comeuppance. This isn’t a sweet romance but has a good deal of spice! I’m looking forward to reading Sophie’s story.

An extremely satisfying read. From page one till the end I was totally engrossed in the story. The chemistry between Honor and Sebastian is off the charts. HOT, HOT, HOT. The plot of Honor's uncertain life lies with Sebastian. She is trying to secure her future after being given the direct cut from polite society. Sebastian does not disappoint. The subplot is of Sebastian's business. A Lord Grey is trying to swindle him out of a fortune. Sebastian will not stand by and let it happen. What is funny is that Honor becomes a sleuth in order to help Sebastian whether he likes it or not. He needs her and she does not disappoint. I recommend reading book one so that this book (book two) makes more sense. This is a quick and enjoyable read and I do recommend it.

Fun & raunchy, if a little daft!
As with the 1st instalment of this, the "When the Wallflowers were Wicked" series, The Incorrigible Courtesan is just as daft, but flighty with it.... It's a good quick read of you don't want anything too heavy, but let's just say Jane Austen is probably churning in her grave at the debauchery of it all!!!
PS I do hope that cow Charlotte Grey is going to get her come-uppance by the qend of this series!!

Love it!!!
Another smash hit by one of my all time favorite writers... I loved reading this continuation of the first book, makes you laugh and giggle while your reading it, plus fanning yourself from the steamy actions that are going on while your reading, cannot wait for book three, wish you would write more like these books , the are fantastic reads!! Another silly and unrealistic, but very fun, story
This is another silly and very unrealistic Regency romance, but it was so fun that I didn't mind the fantasy. Honor and Sebastian are great together, and I loved how she helped solve his problem at the end. I also liked how kind and welcoming the other courtesans were to Honor -- they were so much nicer than any of the people from the ton, who were mostly a bunch of snobs.

Honor is a very smart lady who knows what she wants and will go after it. Even if the ton looks upon her as trash. She wants Sebastian a privateer. When she gets him to take her as a mistress they embark on a sensual journey to love and justice. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.

Honor doesn’t want to become a mistress like her sister Verity, but wants to secure her future using her mathematics skills… gambling her virtue! And losing only to a man whom she really likes, of course! Super steamy novella with intriguing characters.
The audiobook is really enjoyable, even if the narrator chose to give the hero a voice with an accent I didn’t like at all.

I really like this (4*). Nice continuation of the Barnes sisters' saga. I agree with another reviewer and recommend reading book 1 first. Honor is as sharp as a tack!
The only thing I felt was missing was Honor giving her brother a piece of her mind!

A quick and enjoyable read, has explicit sex scenes. I liked the H, the h and was happy that they got an HEA. It was good as the first book and I'm sure I will read the next book in the series too. I plan to follow the author also.
