I love Cami Checketts' writing style, and it was nice to watch the sweet love story between a shy football player and a scarred girl. If you like clean love stories, you'll love this book, this series, and this author.
This was a very clean romance. I love the relationship that developed and these characters were very intriguing. I look forward to the next book in the series. Cami checketts it's becoming one of my favorite authors.
This story is a wonderful story but it tells of a truth that not all people accept. All people have special gifts and an individual beauty. The love story was so sweet, a great read.
The Gentle Patriot: Georgia Patriots Romance: Quinn Family Romance Book 3 is by Cami Checketts. This series is really good and each book takes a totally different approach to finding romance for one of the Quinn family members. The stories are realistic and the characters are realistic as well and fully developed. There is interaction with the other family members and hints as to what will or what has happened to them. Thus, you get a full picture of the family and their interactions. Mack is the youngest of the siblings and one of the largest. He is definitely tall and big; but there isn’t an ounce of fat on him. He is one of the offensive linemen for the Georgia Patriots. He takes great pride in his job; but he is very humble. He looks like he would be quick to anger; but he isn’t. When he was a child, he stuttered and he took a lot of bullying at school for that. His older brothers would take up for him. They were all glad that their sister, Navy Quinn, wasn’t in the same school whether elementary or middle school because she would have been the one to clean the bullies’ clocks for them. They were very proud of each other and their accomplishments. Mack was still rather shy when it came to meeting people. He didn’t like the big parties that the owners threw for the players; but preferred quieter gatherings. Mack respected Hyde Metcalf, their receiver, a great deal and was happy when he found his girl, Lily Uday. As he would watch Hyde go up to the stands after the game to see Lily, he noticed her sister, Sariah. He thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. When she caught his eye on her, he could see that she was as beautiful inside as out and just as shy. Finally, after one game, he walked up to her family with Hyde and actually spoke to her. When Hyde saw them, he hustled Mack to the dressing room and then told him to leave Sariah alone. She was special and indicated she was fragile and someone had hurt her. Mack tried his best to not go against Hyde’s request; but he thought more of Sariah to just ignore her. If she didn’t want him around, she could tell him so herself. Would she want to see him or was Hyde right to warn him off? It is obvious she is hiding something; but what? Who could have hurt her so much and how? Would he ever break through the barriers holding them apart?
I debated on the stars for this one. Though I find the Quinn brothers interesting and am eager to hear their stories, I'm slightly disappointed by the delivery. Mack is the baby of the Quinn brothers and the most sensitive. He's been noticing Soroya Udi at his football games and wants to get to know her. But Soroya has scars emotional and physical and this becomes an issue and a barrier, a secret she keeps from Mack. Now I although I could understand her insecurities, I felt her reactions were over the top, immature and especially they way the hero is enamored with her, it irked me. This is a very clean (no smut) and religious read.
Sariah can't take her eyes off the offensive lineman, Mack Quinn. Even though she knows he is out of her league, the fact that her sister Lily is engaged to Hyde Metcalf who is also on the Patriots team encourages her. Then he comes over to the sideline with Hyde, and can't help herself, she leans over the barrier and Mack actually holds her hand! Since she is always at a home game with her sister and Hyde's mother Teresa, she is always making eye contact with Mack. When they win the superbowl game and invited to the owners home she again gets to see him and even talk to him! Only someone seems to always cut their interactions short and they still haven't had a chance to exchange phone numbers. How frustrating!! Then two months later, Mack can't take it anymore, he asks his brother Griff for a favor and now he's on his way to Denver! Will Sariah be happy to see him? Will people continue to block their way? If they finally connect, what secrets are they hiding from one another? Only one way to find out, read this great story by Cami Checketts!
Mack and Sariah are both so gentle and without guile that they melt my heart. I love reading about characters I am first introduced to in other books. I have read the stories about two of Mack’s brothers and a story about Sariah’s sister, Lily. These other characters are very protective of Mack and Sariah because of their gentle natures. While this book stands alone quite well, I was entertained watching these other characters pop up. I loved the theme of learning to accept ourselves despite our imperfections. I think most of us have parts of ourselves that we would like to hide from the world. This story explores how love and relationships can strengthen or destroy our feeling of self worth. I love cheering these characters on and laughing out loud at some of the family interactions. Can’t wait to read about more friends and family members!!!
I expected a more colorful story, of this love affair. Many details in the plot were not correct or realistic. The attitude of the supposedly sweet, angelic Sariah does not come through, as she is an obnoxious person with the poor smitten Mack. And at all other times is a cowardly mouse. Yes, she’s nervous, afraid to be hurt, concerned that her deformity (scars) will scare Mack away, but her attitude is ugly with him. I hoped for a better relationship for the pair. The conflict Sariah expected happened, but she became a scorpion-stinging and vile to poor Mack. Not a nice affair and then it wraps up untidily. The book is hampered by poor editing, many examples of bad grammar and clumsy sentence construction. Sorry, dear author.
Mack falls in like with Sariah on first sight, but her soon-to-be brother-in-law is not pleased that his teammate is after her. She's been through too much already, and Mack is new on the team. He might inadvertently hurt the vulnerable young woman. Sariah is interested in Mack even before the first time he speaks to her. But he seems to come and go, come and go. But . . . But you'd better read this tale of star-crossed love yourself. Recommended for all readers of clean Christian romance.
The Gentle Patriot has a powerful message to not let our looks define us. We all have scars. Some are simply more visible than others. Some are not physical. Our experiences and the scars we receive from them build our character. Mack is so patient, gentle, and loving. Who wouldn’t fall in love with him? Sariah is real and vulnerable, a perfect heroine. Add a quick moving, little bit suspenseful story, and you certainly have a winner! I love this book.
The whole thing with Debbie (referencing facts from another book) and her plot against Sariah was really over-the-top. However, this was a nice story.
I do struggle with stories with the scenario of one person trying so hard and the other person having to overcome difficulty and being really hard to get to. At least Mack didn't fully become a doormat as is so common in these scenarios.
I certainly didn't put it together until just now that the whole "Gentle Patriot" referred to the football team and not the military.
DNF I had a hard time with how obsessive the main characters were about each other. It bordered on super creepy. He stalks her across the country and we are supposed to think that it’s romantic? She freaks out because he said “goodbye, love you” on the phone to his sister. I get that she has been hurt and that she is insecure but demanding that he tell her who he said that to and then repeating a couple times that she will only be in a monogamous relationship is a bit much. The whole book was a bit much and I liked the previous two.
I read this book for a challenge and should have looked at the tags first. Saraya Hyde is shy and protected because of a disfiguring injury from years ago. She was humiliated by her first and only romance and has been reluctant to get involved again. But she's interested in football player Mack Quinn. Mack is interested in Saraya too, but is discouraged from pursuing her by her brother-in-law-to-be and fellow football player. Thankfully the book was short! Mack was not believable as a professional athlete and Saraya was strange.
I liked the narrator of the book and usually, I like books by this author however I wasn't very crazy about this one. I don't know if it's because I listened to it quite a while after the first two books so I don't recall the other characters as well or if it was just the story itself, but I had a hard time relating to the characters and their story. I didn't feel like there was much of a conflict that they had to deal with and everyone was really defensive of the girl without really building up the story as to why. Overall it was OK, but not my favorite.
The idea of hiding her imperfections from the man she hopes to have a lasting relationship with is unrealistic. Before she falls hopelessly in love with him, it would be better for her to know what he thinks of her with her imperfections rather than have everything crumble if he doesn't like what she looks like. Sariah is such a hypocrite for getting upset about Mack not telling her what he knew. Yet she kept the same secret from him the entire time they were dating. A very realistic storyline with engaging characters.
A great book to read and enjoy. Loved the whole story line especially the part about Sariah and her deformities. The love story of two people who had a hard time getting to know each other and to trust each other. Sariah had to get over her fears after the problems with her old boyfriend and learn to trust again. This is my review of a Free book . Norma Gorrill
Mack Quinn gets my vote for romance. Sweet, persistent, and protective...he does what it takes to win his insecure gal. Sariah was a bit over the top. I generally liked the banter and shyness at times, but her outbursts of fear were a bit over the top. Still, Mack's character was patient and Sariah finally comes around. I would very much like to see the engagement and wedding for this couple in a short story. Hope to read more of this series by Cami Checketts.
Beauty is not in perfection but the imperfections that make us unique!
A lovely love story, about a big hunky guy and the girl of his dreams. His colleague is adamant that he leave her alone. But instead he persistently goes after her and finally succeeds in getting a date. But she has a secret. When it finally comes out, there are a few bumps, but he convinces her of his love for all of her. Thoroughly enjoyed.
What a beautiful love story between Mack and Sariah. The scars don't matter but what makes them even more beautiful is the beauty inside and makes them.shine on the outside. What a beautiful love story of how of Mack could see past the scars to a beauty of the person Sariah is. It had me crying at moments and fell in love with them both 💗
This i.d rhe first book I've read written by rhis author but I promise it won't be the last. Thw storyline was well-developed and interesting and the characters were extremely easy to relate to. I quickly lost myself in the pages of this extremely satisfying romance and can promise you I'll be looking for more by this author in the future.
The romance is alive. I love the football books! They are always fun and sassy. This books is wondrous, funny and down right family good. You are part time of the family and fall in love with the characters and their uniqueness. Love this book. It has my heart working through every single word!
Cami Checketts did it again with another award winning book! I really enjoyed reading this story. Sometimes people judge quiet people to be broody and menacing, when in reality they are just quiet and shy. I loved Mac and his tenacity to keep going after what he wants, even if there are obstacles in the way. I highly recommend both the author and book! Happy reading!
This novel was okay, not the best that I have read but definitely not the worst. I enjoyed this book for the majority of the storyline but towards the end I felt it was too drawn out. I wish they could have wrapped it up a little sooner, I feel like it would have worked out better.
This an amazing love story that covers the truth of real beauty. The statement by Mack trust has to go both ways is so true in a real relationship. The scars the Sariah suffered learns a beautiful lesson about true love. This story touches some real life lessons and is beautifully told.
The Gentle Patriot: Georgia Patriots Romance(Quinn Family)
Wow. I loved this story. There are larger men who are gentle and kind. Then there is the other side of the coin where they are big ugly bullies and need taking down a peg or two. This was a tragic story which ended in so much love. Once I started reading I could not stop. Thank you.
Good book deserves good rating. And this one is good. It teaches us though heroine that you can be loved with scars weather inside or outside by right person. It is funny, it is sad, this book is wonderful. Recommend it to everyone not only this one but all of Camo Checkett's books. Happy reading!
Enjoyable love story. Mack is too shy to directly approach Sariah who caught his attention at first glance. I love the growth and confidence that Sariah experiences because of her love for and from Mack. “Trust is a two way street” is so true. I loved the ending. I read romance for the escape from reality and all its troubles. Cami Checketts definitely delivers.
