A town cannot live on baked goods alone, and a teacher won’t find their mate in a book. Welcome to the Kinship Cove Diner, where a good cup of coffee comes with every fated mating.
***
It sucks to be invisible. In the diner my family owns, I’m just the sister who gets stuff done. My entire skulk seems to forget about me on a weekly basis. So color me tickled when the fates drop my fated mate—a hunky, nerdy-hot wolf shifting professor—directly in my path. But not all matings go as planned, mine included.
He’s smart, he’s hot, and he’s decided to use our bond for research instead of actually getting to know me. And did I mention he used to buy my best friend’s worn undergarments? Thanks for that, fates.
Undies aside, my wolf shifter professor is about to learn his toughest lesson ever—never go up against a fox shifter in a battle of wit or will. We’re sneaky, smart, and not afraid to take an opponent to the mattresses to win a battle.

FRAPPÉ FOX is a paranormal romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Ellis Leigh. The story is a standalone PNR rom-com with wit, snark, shifters, and more than just flirting.
A storyteller from the time she could talk, USA Today bestselling author Ellis Leigh grew up among family legends of hauntings, psychics, and love spanning decades. Those stories didn’t always have the happiest of endings, so they inspired her to write about real life, real love, and the difficulties therein. From farmers to werewolves, store clerks to witches—if there’s love to be found, she’ll write about it. Ellis lives in the Chicago area with her husband, daughters, and a German Shepherd that refuses to leave her side.
I enjoyed how this started but it just fizzled out for me. I think it is too short to do it justice. Felt really sorry for Misty at the beginning with the way she is treated by her mum and family but at the end her mum doesn’t apologise but just switches into protective mode. Weird. I wonder if this treatment was the reasoning she allowed herself to be used by Clark. I’m not sure why but I felt there was no deep connection. A large lack of communication and romance between these two and it was lacking substance and some good grovelling. This is my honest review of this book.
SO DARN CUTE!!! Title: Fondant Fox (A Kinship Cove Fun & Flirty Romance) Series: Book 4 of Mates & Macarons Series (Released as Part of the Multi-Author Shifters In Love Fun & Flirty Romance Collection) Designation: Standalone Novella(Approximately 90 pages), NO Cliffhanger #paranormal #romance #smalltown #shifters #humor #funflirtyromance My Rating: Five Deliciously Sexy Sweet Stars*****
I loved, loved, loved Misty and Clark! Fondant Fox is my new favorite and Mates and Macarons is, without a doubt, one of the cutest, sweetest, funniest, most outrageously adorable, feel-good paranormal romance series I've read this year. I'm a diehard Ellis Leigh fan and have been for years. Leigh is one of my top five favorite paranormal, science fiction, suspense, and contemporary romance authors. And yes, you read that correctly - Leigh does write in all four genres and does it exceptionally well, consistently demonstrating her talent as a gifted storyteller and skilled wordsmith with every story she pens, which is why her books are an automatic one-click for me. For anyone unfamiliar with Leigh's work, she writes captivating paranormal and science fiction romance as Ellis Leigh, riveting contemporary romantic suspense as Kristin Harte, and naughty contemporary/ new adult romance as one half of the London Hale dynamic writing duo. In the past, Leigh's writing in paranormal romance has been somewhat darker in tone, but I was thrilled to see her stretch her wings and soar into something more fun. Don't get me wrong; her other books also contain humor, but this new series is sweet, cute, lighthearted, fun, feel-good, and heartwarming without all the grit and danger, though there's still a generous sprinkling of angst, just not the 'OMG, I'm gonna die' element, unless you consider dying of embarrassment a real possibility. Yeah, been there and done that! lol... But as usual I digress when talking about authors and books I love, so let's discuss this story.
Fondant Fox is a delightful, well-crafted, well-edited, fast-paced, easy to follow standalone novella with a beautifully written dual his and her first-person narrative. The storyline is upbeat with lots of cutesy, good-natured humor but does have its share of drama which, at times, is not only heartbreaking but also pretty darn hilarious. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. Fondant Fox is very much a character-driven storyline, which brings me to my favorite component of every Leigh story - her always engaging cast of characters. I was so hoping Leigh would write a story for Misty, the sweet, snarky fox shifter who worked at the Cakily-Ever-After Bakery with her three human besties, co-owners Coco, Ginger, and Madeleine Chance. And she did! Thank you, Ellis Leigh! Misty played a secondary role in all three books but was instrumental in helping each sister secure their mate, so it was only fair that fate play around with her life, right? And wow, the fickle mistress of futures really threw our Misty a curveball! I adored Misty when she was introduced in the first book of the series. She was so sassy, snarky, and spunky, but she was also kind, selfless, loyal, and smart as a whip. I knew she deserved a special story and Leigh absolutely nailed it! But what really bowled me over was the identity of her mate! lol... Yeah, we met him in the last book, and let's just say he didn't make a good first impression, at all. As it turns out, Misty's mate is none other that 'Ryder-not-really-Ryder' from Book 3, Honey Bear. He was the bashful, older wolf shifter with questionable sexual proclivities buying items from Madeleine's lucrative, super secret(but not anymore) side business. We finally discover his real name is Clark and he's a hot, nerdy professor who lives and teaches at the college in a neighboring town on the other side of the mountain. My heart just ached for this unlikely pair. Misty was a fox shifter and member of a large skulk, all of whom seemed to always take her for granted. And poor Clark, he and his wolf barely tolerated each other. He wasn't a member of a pack growing up, was never taught to embrace his shifter side, and tried to keep his wolf on a tight leash, never shifting and never accepting life as a shifter. Much to Misty's dismay and understandable disappointment, Clark didn't believe in the concept of mates and refused to accept Misty as a mate. He only believed in analytics and logic, and only wanted Misty to participate in his research experiment. In other words, he wanted to scientifically document why he was drawn to Kinship Cove and Misty by having sex with her every two weeks. Oh dear! But the logically minded professor was in for a very rude, illogical awakening, and Misty was just the sneaky little vixen to give it to him! lol... I am such a sucker for older alpha heroes and May-December tropes. But add in the fact that this is a paranormal romantic comedy totally sealed the deal for me because the only thing I love more than contemporary romance and romantic comedies is paranormal/supernatural/fantasy romance. The physical attraction and sexual chemistry between sassy Misty and clueless Clark sizzled in every encounter. And wow, Misty really throws a monkey wrench into poor Clark's research project! And poor, shy, nerdy Clark turns out to be a real wolf between the sheets! Oh my! Nothing is ever easy for any of the ladies of the Cakily-Ever-After Bakery, including love - but it's just a research experiment, right? Well, Clark may be the super-smart wolf shifter professor with a fancy degree, but foxes are known for some super sneaky maneuvers. Will Misty be able to teach this professor a few new lessons? We'll see!
No spoilers from me but I will say this... Beautiful fox shifter determined to teach a professor a few new tricks-check! An older wolf shifter professor who is completely clueless in how to be a shifter or woo his mate-check! A protective group of loyal friends-check! An unappreciative family-check! A boatload of drama, a liberal splash of angst, a healthy dose of laugh out loud humor, and a generous measure of steamy passion and sweet romance-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
So, did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain naughty language and explicit(dreamy) sex. Fondant Fox is the fourth release in the Mates and Macarons Series with each book focusing on the ladies of the Cake-ily Ever After Bakery in Kinship Cove, a small close-knit town primarily populated with shifters. All the books are standalones with their own happy ending and could probably be read in any order, but to avoid spoilers, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially. Will I read this author again? You bet, just as soon as she releases her next book, which I just discovered will be about Misty's sister, Tilly! Thank you again, Ellis Leigh! I love this series! And finally, was I entertained? OMG, completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

Beside her large fox shifter family, Misty has three human sisters as well. Her best friends, the Chance sisters. She's beyond happy for all of them getting their mates in a matter of days and just maybe their luck is rubbing off, because Misty feels her mate is near. Unfortunately, said mate obviously has a thing for another woman's panties...and doesn't believe in mates at all.
The bitter-sweet tone continues with Misty, the fox shifter that helped the Chance sister getting their happily ever after getting a mate that's chained his wolf, doesn't believe in mates and would rather use their "pheromone induced reaction" for research purposes. The moment she agrees and decides to keep her emotional needs locked up, heartbreak starts lurking on the horizon. Luckily, the beast is stronger (and rather smarter) than man, so it didn't happen...I wouldn't have minded if the story was a little longer, though, exploring on the possibilities and ramifications of mate-repudiation.
I was glad to see the Chance sisters and their mates treating Misty more like family than a mere friend. The bond was evident and tangible and I'm glad she had them in their corner the way they had her in theirs when they needed her.
Bitter-sweet, low on laughs and high on drama, this was a rather compelling little story.
The writing was excellent but the story left me sad and wanting more. We see this woman being ignored and under appreciated by her family. She’s hoping to meet her mate because so much of her family and friends are paired up. And when she does, he only wants sex from her… not a mating.
Yes, he pretty quickly wants to be mates but there’s never a “I got to know how amazing you are” that I believe. He got to have amazing sex and wants more now. It all came down to the physical. And this woman deserves more. He needed to grovel way more and try more to win me over and make me not feel like he’s not worthy of her!
I love how every single time I’m in need of a light, sexy (as hell) little story, Ellis Leigh has a release for me.
Fondant Fox is just that. The little sexy and light novella, part of the Mates & Macarons Kinship Cove series. And this time, it’s Misty who finds her mate. In none other than Ryder, the worn lingerie obsessed shifter we’ve met briefly in Madaleine’s book.
Misty is a part of the fox skulk in Kinship Cove, and one of the younger shifters in her skulk, which means she’s one of the hard working ones, helping in preparing and serving the weekly Skulk dinner to more than a hundred hungry, somewhat ungrateful (seemingly, anyway) and boisterous foxes.
On one of those dinners, when her siblings drive her out of her mind, she decides to take a break, and finds herself in the sisters’ bakery, her pseudo-family. But when Madaleine’s mate, Jericho, flips out, we find Misty face to face with her mate, Ryder.
But Ryder, who’s name isn’t Ryder (duh!) doesn’t believe in mating. Umm…. WHAT?!
And this is where this story turns so much more fun.
I adore these characters. You have the Vixen fox - Misty and the Nerdy but oh so hot college professor wolf - Clark. Such a light and fun read. I highly recommend it.
I liked the idea of this book a lot, the whole not believing in fated mates concept. Clark is our hero and he’s very much the most non-shifter shifter I’ve ever read. He keeps his animal on lockdown, doesn’t really believe in the whole magic of shifters or the animal behavior. More like he believes they are two different things and the human can completely compartmentalize the animal outside of the human influence. Misty on the other had is as integrated into shifter life as possible. She has a huge (and I mean huge) family, works for humans at a bakery who all have shifter mates, and lives in a shifter town. So to find her fated mate should be an exciting experience, only to find her mate doesn’t really believe in it and just wants to research the phenomenon by being friends with benefits. Misty is a super likable to me. I felt for her a lot throughout the whole book. It seems to me like she’s really overlooked and undervalued by her family, but she has created a life for herself out of the family and her friends really care about her, which was great to see her be valued. But then for her to get her dream of finding her mate only to have it kind of crushed was hard to read in parts. She really tries so hard to put on a good front, but you know it’s hard for her. As for Clark, I wanted to be mad at him. I wanted to be so annoyed that he wasn’t on board and by default was inherently hurting Misty. But he mostly just comes off as clueless I didn’t nearly have the kind of dislike for him I was expecting. The read was a quick one, and it was enjoyable. My issues were I wanted the book to be longer and honestly I felt like it resolved to quickly/easy, which was a bummer. Overall, if you are looking for a quick, easy, and fun read, with a little bit of spice then this might be a book for you.
Misty is a fox shifter that comes from a large family of fox shifters. Since she's one of many, Misty doesn't get much recognition among her family and because of this, Misty loves working at a bakery owned by three human sisters because they make her feel wanted. Misty was helpful in her co-workers finding their mates, now Misty just has to find hers.
Clark is a wolf shifter that's also a college professor. We don't find out a lot about Clark's background except that he was raised to believe his wolf is a "spirit" rather than an actual entity and he's kept it metaphorically chained most of his life. Which is why Clark isn't a believer when it comes to the whole "true mate" thing...
The story drops us right into Misty and Clark's introduction, the fact that they're mates and his issues with believing in mates. I felt so bad for Misty! After she's been so good about trying to help the sisters find their mates and then she finds her mate and he doesn't believe in mates and doesn't seem to want her! Clark's rather nerdy though and wants Misty's help to "research" mates. Misty feels the need to be near him so she agrees to help with his research but it puts her into a bad position and she has to deal with some angst before things work out. Thankfully, thing do work out and the story ends with Clark and Misty on their way to a HEA together.
Overall, this was a very good story. I liked both Misty and Clark and was anxious for them to figure out their issues and get together. The story is short but it's enjoyable with characters I liked very much so I would recommend it. :)
Misty, a fox shifter who was friends with the Chance sisters, her family ran the Kinship Cove diner for generations. She felt like she was invisible to her family and it needed to stop. She never expected to find her mate but when she did, it turned out that he used to buy her best-friend's panties. And he didn't believe in fate. Yup she was screwed.
Clark, a wolf shifter who didn't believe in mates found his mate. She was a beautiful, sassy and bold little fox shifter by the name of Misty. His wolf had been acting strangely for the past few months when he first came to Kinship Cove for a day and didn't feel like leaving.
He had no idea what his inner animal wanted of him, all he knew was that there was a string pull towards the town's bakery. Now he knew why. He wanted to do some research but Misty wasn't having it but he couldn't really blame her. She believed in fated mates while he was more of a show me kind of man.
As they conducted their "research", Misty was able to show Clark what it meant to be a shifter. Just as things looked like they were coming together, she pulled away. But neither him or his wolf had any plans to let her walk away from them again.
Loved how the Chances' mates had Misty's back, come what may. It was a treat to catch up with old characters and meet new ones. Looking forward to what comes next! ;).
FONDANT FOX is the fourth book in Ellis Leigh's KINSHIP COVE: MATE & MACAROONS series. It was fascinating, humorous and fast-paced. 5++++
Fondant Fox: A Kinship Cove Fun & Flirty Romance (Mates & Macarons #4) by Ellis Leigh I purchased this book. FINALLY Misty gets her man even if it was a bit rocky to start off. Misty had been the rock the Chance sisters needed to get their matings off the group. She has been their to help guide them and push them when needed. I was so happy when I saw she finally got a mate. Now about her mate….awkward is a word to describe him. I am not talking about his nerdy exterior either. I mean how he knows about the town and his connection to the town. He was one of the guys who would buy Maddie’s dirty panties….EWWWWWW but then we find out why and the skeevy natire kinda goes down. However, Misty’s heart is soon breaking when she learned her mate isnt interested or doesn’t believe in matings…….sniff….he is only interested in Research. God Love Misty for taking him on and challenging him to bonding with his wolf and with her. I liked Clark as he reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory!! LOL
Misty finally gets her story and boy do I have to save that Ellis Leigh saves the best for last.
Misty has been a friend, big sister, & pseudo-mom to the human Chance sisters. Now that they have all found their mates, it’s Misty’s turn to be rewarded by the Fates. However, her mate is a panty sniffing, non-believer.
Oh Clark. Cutie on duty with brains and a mind only for research. Also a wolf shifter that apparently suppresses the very animal deep within. Our vixen Misty just shatters it all and gives him a bit of knowledge about the shifter world that rocks his scientific theories to its core. Ha!
Ellis Leigh has did me in with this series. Read all 4 books in less than 48 hours. I couldn’t put them down and i had to see Misty overcome this challenge. Great ending to the series!
Title: Fondant Fox #4 Series: Kinship Cove: Mates & Macarons Release Date: #AlreadyReleased Author: Ellis Leigh Reviewer: Ingrid Stephanie Jordan Serial: Standalone, No Cliffhanger Genre: #PRN #FoxShifter #BearShifter #DragonShifter #WolfShifter #5Stars🌟⭐🌟🌟🌟 •••••••••••••• 📌Every book that Ms. Ellis writes is phenomenal, this one is no exception. It has you on the edge of your seat from the first page, to the last.
🔹️Misty is a Fox Shifter with eighteen siblings, but they never thought of her except for food at family dinner night. The three Chance sister alway thought of her.
🔹️Professors Clark is a Wolf Shifter who doesn't shift. He's a scientist not a wolfman, he doesn't believe in mates but maybe just maybe he believes in bi-weekly sex.
What do you get when you get a panty buying smelling professor mate who doesn't believe in mates? Clark. That's who. A wolf shifter who was raised to not believe it rely on his shifter senses. But he never knew what that it meant to truly have a mate was it that pull was true until Misty came along. That vixen put it on him. He didn't see it coming. It was like a drug. This was a funny but really good book in the series. I swear I always say the last one is my favorite but then I read the next one and say nope it's this be and you this one is my favorite now. Must read! NOW!
Misty is feisty, independent and a fox shifter. She's also been smacked right in the face with a true mate who doesn't believe in the mating call. All evidence to the contrary. Clark is brilliant, studious and a wolf shifter. His intellectual and loner tendencies have led him to conclude that true mates don't really exist. But when he finds himself, and his wolf, drawn to Misty he finds he must test his hypotheses. They both embark on a bouncy, funny and inevitable ride to the truth. There has not been a more clear story of opposites attracting and it's a fun and touching ride for the reader. Great little series.
What happens when a sassy fox shifter (Misty) meets her fated mate in the nerdy, hot wolfy professor (Clark) who doesn’t believe in mated pairs at all? A research experiment gone wrong, or totally right, if you look at the outcome. What started out as a panty-buying research project and ends with Clark standing naked in the kitchen of Misty’s family’s diner is a tale of finding the missing balance between the two halves of yourself and exactly what you need to make them whole. I loved Misty and Clark together and can’t wait to read the next story from Kinship Cove!
He doesn't believe in fated mate even though he's a shifter. He believes science and facts. She worked in a bakery bestie's with human bosses be and helped out in family restaurant. She couldn't believe she found her mate a man who bought things from Madeline and he showed up at the bakery. He didn't want a mate and kept his beast under lock and key. So they made a deal, she teach him about being a shifter and help him with research about why he was needing to be with her. She knew what to be expected about not bondiñg, it took begin separated for him to understand and letting his wolf out and accepting.
This story was about a wolf shifter who really understand shifter things and it takes a sneaky fox to help...
Possible SPOILERS
What happens when you meet your fated mate and he doesn't believe in fated mates? Well if you're Misty you have to choices...one ignore him and run or 2 go along with his biweekly experiment about the mating pull and ry to teach him about being a shifter...what could go wrong?? After 2 weeks of not having seen or touched her mate, Misty is a little ragey, sadistic idiot to think this situation was a good idea so she approaches Clark and....

I let you read all about it poor misty will get her happy ever after? You're going to have to read to find out lol. I loved the story it has lots of drama, spice , fun and much more. The characters are great and makes for a super fun read so don't miss it. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it.

If you’re needing something quick and cute, this is it. Misty meets her mate Clark but he doesn’t believe in fated mates. He’s a shifter who relies more on his human side than his base wolffish instincts. He wants to use Misty as research to prove mates is nothing more than pheromones. However, whether he believes it’s true or not fated mates exist. Misty runs because she can’t keep her emotions separate anymore and Clark realizes he’s made a big mistake.
Book is a fun fast read, has just enough of everything in it. Readers finally get to hear Misty’s story after enjoying her sass with the Chance sisters. Your gonna love her sexy, nerdy (but not as smart as he thinks) professor. Can be read as a standalone but you’ll miss out knowing who that sexy dragon is that threatens her nerdy professor when he finally learns what a mate is.
And oh the almighty witty fox had fallen!! I enjoyed the book so much like any other book in the series. The plot ideas was different and amusing at best. I liked how both characters were developed nicely; how different they were and how those differences were actually the winning aspect of their explosive relationship. What kept me hooked so far to the book 4 was the amazingly amusing banter between the characters and themselves! And, again, how the almighty witty fox had fallen!
I have loved how Misty has made sure to help her friends get their mates and now she feels even more invisible, or so she thinks , now she meets her mate who is someone who use to buy panties online and his name really isn't Ryder but he doesn't believe in mates and the more time they spend together both of them start changing their minds but will it be to late
What a cute little story! You have to feel terrible for Misty. She seems to be completely ignored and taken advantage of by her family, only her friends seem to get her. Then to find her true mate and he wants nothing to do with mating. The road may be long, but their HEA will more than make up for it. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just couldn't get enough of it and once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I recommend that you read it.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Misty is a fox shifter. Clark is a wolf shifter who does not believe in fated mates. Misty is one of 18 siblings, most of whom are mated. She also works at the bakery Sith her three human friends, each of whom is mated to a shifter. He does not believe in fated mates. They have an interesting stay of resolving this. A fun book.
Clark has never believed in true mates until he meets Misty. Researching the theory only presents more problems than he ever could have imagined. Now with his wolf in more control than his human side he is at a loss as what to do or say to the Fox Shifter he is completely in love with. Mating is all he really wants.
