Seven of the top paranormal romance authors writing today have joined together to bring you a set of first-in-series novels to help you celebrate Valentine's Day in style — with your very own paranormal Valentine.
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Alyssa Day: January in Atlantis (Poseidon's Warriors, #1): Flynn's mission may be derailed by a woman who's on the run. Will the heat between them be strong enough to save the day — or burn down the world?
From Amazon Best Selling author Lisa Kessler: Lure of Obsession (Muse Chronicles, #1): Detective Nate Malone has been marked by the gods to protect the Muse of Tragic Poetry. When a killer sets his sights on her, Nate will risk everything to protect her, and tragedy isn't part of his plan...
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Robyn Peterman: Switching Hour (Magic and Mayhem, #1): Released from the magic pokey and paroled with limited power is enough to make any witch grumpy. However, if you throw in a recently resurrected cat, a lime-green Kia and a sexy egotistical werewolf, it's enough to make a gal fly off the edge. Not to mention a mission...with no freaking directions. If they think I'm the right witch for the job, they've swallowed some bad brew.
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Michelle M. Pillow: The Mighty Hunter (Lords of the Abyss, #1): The merman may have rescued her from death, but who’s going to rescue her from him? Welcome to the underwater world of Atlantes!
From International Bestselling Author Debra Dunbar: Rogue (Northern Wolves, #2): Sabrina had a hot sexy night with a bear shifter during her wolf pack's annual barbeque — then never heard from him again. Sent to track down a murderous rogue, she's surprised to find herself partnered with Karl — the same bear shifter that has been fueling her fantasies for the last year. Can Sabrina trust a brooding bear shifter with secrets of his own to have her back as well as hold her heart?
From USA Today Bestselling Author Renee George: You've Got Tail (Peculiar Mysteries, #1): Psychic Sunny hightails it to the Missouri Ozarks to find her missing friend Chavvah, only to discover romance with her friend’s younger brother, a kidnapping conspiracy, and a town full of secrets that some will kill to protect.
From Award-Winning Author Abigail Owen: Her Demigod Complex (Legendary Consultants, #1): As an ex-nymph, Lyleia Naiad has the unique ability to resist her boss's demigod-like charms. The man's been breaking hearts for millennia. But Castor Dioskouri shows her a different side — compassionate, dedicated, protective and loyal. And that Castor is nearly impossible to resist. Attending a werewolf mating ceremony together — where the pheromones fly, and so do clothes, inhibitions, and common sense — might be one temptation too many.

Her Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen 4 stars Leia and Castor had sweltering chemistry and hiding their true feelings for one another just amped the heat levels! I loved their relationship dynamics and got a kick out of Delilah’s matchmaking skills. It looks like I’ll be hunting down other stories in this series!
Lure of Obsession by Lisa Kessler 4 stars Mel and Nate may have met under unusual circumstances, but there’s no denying their chemistry! I enjoyed seeing Nate grow into his own and become adjusted to the idea he deserved happiness and he found Mel at just the right time! Even though Mel leaned towards tragic thinking/worst case scenario, Nate was the perfect person to pull her out of the doomsday thinking. I loved these two characters and their friends! Super funny and so supportive. And Maggie was an added bonus with her resilient attitude.
January in Atlantis by Alyssa Day 3.5 stars Eva and Flynn’s attraction was insta-lust and Flynn’s unintended bluntness with pick up lines was comical! The plot could have been better, as I’m left with a few questions over that ending. My favorite bits were the glimpses of Atlantis and its inhabitants.
Rogue by Debra Dunbar 2 stars Sabrina is supposed to be second in the wolf pack and a dominate. I thought she was prideful, prissy, and very picky. Karl had all sorts of secrets concerning his bear and his background. He was actually pretty sweet even with his caveman personality, but I’m still not sold on him and Sabrina being mates. Mostly because they’re extreme opposites in everything except sex. So I can see being bedroom buddies, but anything more serious simply isn’t jiving.
Switching Hour by Robyn Peterman 3.5 stars It took until chapter four before Zelda finally started growing on me and I was ready to throw in the towel on the story! She was self absorbed and quite materialistic, but she turned out to have a reluctantly soft heart under all the worldly fluff. She gave Mac a run for his money and had a mouth and attitude to match all that sass! In the end, she turned out to be alright...enough so that I’m curious about the rest of the series! And Fabio, her familiar? Oh my lands, the surprises!!
The Mighty Hunter by Michelle Pillow 4 stars Bridget is a scientist. She deals in logic not emotion. Waking up in an unknown world, she struggles to analyze what has happened to her. Caderyn is a hunter Merr (merman). He rescued Bridget when her ship sinks and is now responsible for her well being. After a misunderstanding sends Bridget unwittingly into the enemies hands, she finally realizes her struggle wasn't in understanding the new world but her developing feelings towards Caderyn. A guy who hasn't had a woman in centuries, a stubborn scientist rescued by said guy, and scorching sex scenes, made this story a very spicy read.
You’ve Got Tail by Renee George 2 stars The premise was interesting, but the characters..not so much. They were flat with no real personality, although I did like the variety of animals the shifters could change into. There was the mean girl, the slick bad guy, and the cute hero, but the cheesy heroine was the most ridiculous. Not with her psychic abilities, just her general personality and mind set was what I found frustrating.
Seven fabulous firsts in a series in one hot collection. Love among the supernatural is magical. January in Atlantis (Poseidon's Warriors, #1) by Alyssa Day – The first in a spin-off of the Warriors of Poseidon series. Atlantis has risen and Flynn the prodigal son has returned home only to be sent away again on a mission for Poseidon. This is his chance to prove he isn’t the screw up he thinks he is. This is a sexy fun story and a great intro to the new series. Lure of Obsession (Muse Chronicles, #1) by Lisa Kessler - What would modern day Muses do? What would they look like? And who wants them dead? Find the answers to these and other questions in Lure of Obsession. This is a wonderful romantic suspense with a bit of paranormal thrown in. Melanie is the type of teacher I wanted and Nate needs someone like her in his life. Switching Hour (Magic and Mayhem, #1) by Robyn Peterman – This is a hilarious laugh out loud romp that will have you giggle-snorting and flipping pages. Zelda learns to believe in herself and learns that it is okay to let people in. The Mighty Hunter (Lords of the Abyss, #1) by Michelle M. Pillow – Mermen! I loved the concept behind this book and will be checking out this series but my goodness I wanted to slap the whiny out of Bridget. Rogue (Northern Wolves, #2) by Debra Dunbar – Okay so this is the second in the series but I would have never know. Sabrina is a strong dominant female wolf shifter, Karl is a grumpy bear shifter with a little extra. When these two get together to discover who is killing shifters sparks fly. I really like these two together. You've Got Tail (Peculiar Mysteries, #1) by Renee George – I love Renee George! This whole series is fantastic. Watching Sunny come into her own was amazing. The laughs and cuteness along the way made this a fun read. Her Demigod Complex (Legendary Consultants, #1) by Abigail Owen – This story is one of the reasons I love anthologies. I really enjoyed this story of Gods, demigods, nymphs and werewolves. I probably wouldn’t have found this series if not for this anthology. I will certainly be checking out this series.
I can honestly say, without reservation, that this is the best anthology I have read on quite some time. I liked every single one of the stories and had to stop myself from clicking the links at the end of each story to continue reading or I would have been hopelessly derailed and never would have finished. You can bet though that I'm keeping this handy and using it as a new author list for my TBR pile. I can't wait to get started.
Some great stories included in this anthology. Each story is engrossing enough that you will want to read more by that author and continue that particular series. There is at least one story for whatever type of PNR you enjoy. My personal favorite is the last one about the 9 Muses. Ms. Kessler weaved a terrific tale of myth and romance with a hint of danger where the hero was flawed but fierce and the heroine was spunky and spirited.
Outstanding compilation of novellas you won't want to miss.
One of the best anthologies I've read to date. Some of the stories I had already read. It was like seeing an old friend. And a few new authors to me. I have to say that I had to keep coming back to this book because I kept getting the rest of the books in each author's series. Great reading.
One of my favorite authors which has led me to more with this anthology. What can I say... love is in the air. Each story made me wish I was the Heroine. Could not put it down.
I really enjoyed the set of books written by multiple authors. Each book had a unique storyline and creative characters! I definitely think this was s great deal for all these books! If you are looking for something new give these a shot! Loved it
I really enjoyed reading books from some of my favorite authors? I have met some new authors in the book and their stories were excellent! You have love, humor and mysteries all rolled into the stories. I cannot pick just one as I really like them all. Read and enjoy!
This is a good anthology. The books were mostly good and there were no cliffhangers.
The Mighty Hunter by Michelle M. Pillow: 3 stars. I was a bit annoyed that the heroine ran away so often. Also the instant mega lust was way over the top.
January in Atlantis by Alyssa Day: 4 stars. The heroine was excellent and I thought the plot was very good.
Switching Hour by Robyn Peterman: 5 stars. This book is why I read anthologies. The plot was good, the characters were good and varied, and the writing was really funny. I bought the next four books I enjoyed this one so much.
Rogue by Debra Dunbar: 3 stars. I used to be a big Debra Dunbar fan, but I haven't enjoyed her Imp world spinoff books. Everything seems watered down and the edge in the initial Imp books is missing.
You've Got Tail by Renee George: 3- stars. This one has the old only one hotel room with only one bed and no other rooms in the city trope. Of course she wears sexy lingerie even when she's sleeping by herself so she's wearing sexy nighties in the one room with the one bed. Yawn.
Her Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen: 3 stars. It's kind of difficult to tell it was PNR.
Lure of Obsession by Lisa Kessler: 4 stars. I liked the idea of modern day muses. The story was both good and sweet.
I enjoyed this anthology. There were a couple stories I didn't read because of my ocd with series and reading in order but what I read, I liked a lot.
Switching Hour - 4/5 The Mighty Hunter - 4/5 You've Got Tail - 4/5 Her Demigod Complex - 3.5/5 January in Atlantis - Passed. It's a spinoff and I prefer to read from the very beginning. Lure of Obsession - Not interested. I tried to read the first chapter but didn't care for it. Rogue - Passed this one too. It's #2 in a series that I've not read.
This compilation of paranormal romance stories is one of the better group works I've come across. A lot of these mass works end up being a lot of mediocre works with one or two good ones sprinkled in. I already knew Alyssa Day and Michelle M. Pillow, so I figured they'd be good and gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. These really were all great reads. I have reviewed them each individually, so please take a look at those for better detail.
I already said I loved the two authors, but I read the one by Abigail Owen and Have to say it was pretty cool. Unique in it's choice of main characters and just all around fun. Possibly my favorite. I had already read the Lisa Kessler book (Lure of Obsession) before buying this set and can also vouch for that book being fun.
Alyssa Day for the win. I only wish there was more!! Great short story and the variety of the other stories made this anthology even better than the average.
