Cammie Evans was a girl with a plan from the moment God called her to be a foreign missionary. After several years spent all over the world, though, she finds herself with a new assignment that leaves her questioning all that she once thought to be true about life, love, and calling.
David Connor was always the weird kid in the youth group, never destined to live up to his father's expectations. After several years of working to find his own significance in Christ and his calling as a foreign missionary, he finds himself asking hard questions about who he is and what God wants from him.
As their lives change and the past becomes part of the present, can Cammie and David help one another find their own happily ever after?

This was pretty good. I liked all of the stuff about Namibia and that Jenn Faulk didn't treat African like it was a country instead of a diverse collection of 54. David and Cammie were a good match (I didn't really feel that way about my last Faulk read and I will never read Charity's book for that and a host of other reasons). I adored that David had been in love with Cammie his whole life.
I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this book, I had never even heard of the author before now, but it was surprisingly good. I loved the flashback of memories that Cammie and Daivd had of each other growing up, it made their characters more real to me. I also found it sweet that David's first kiss wasn't until he was 25 and it was with Cammie, the girl he's admired and loved all those years back. And, while I don't profess to understand all of the politics behind running a megachurch like New-Life Dallas (the whole time I was reading this I was picturing in my head First Baptist Dallas, because I went there once and it sounds very similar to it) because the church I belong to isn't ran that way, with people voting for their leaders, etc., I could understand David's need to get out from under his father's shadow and his frustration in feeling like his father was still controlling his life even half way across the world. At the end of the book, it had a preview of David's sister'S story and I was intrigued by what I read. I'll have to hunt it down somewhere.
This was a devotional Christian based story, filled with uplifting messages for believers, that included a beautiful romance everyone had to see to believe. Shares that there is a reason for everything and you are never alone.
One thing that irritated me, was that there were no numbered chapters. You just bounced back and forth between points of view and dialogue between the two main characters - like a ping pong ball. Although this may be realistic in some lives, discovering the deceit and control issues from those that should have been mentors was a big disappointment!
It was definitely able to stand on its own, was very clean, wholesome, and captivating. They delivered a HEA, based on the eyes of the beholder.
Missionaries in Namibia who faithfully teach and live the word of God. A sweet Christian romance, stressing chastity and teaching others to love and follow God. Complicated by David's father who is a respected minister, but who can't seem to allow his children to follow Christ on their own, without interfering in their chosen paths. A good read.
This was a sweet love story with the right mix of twists and turns to keep you interested despite knowing from the beginning that these two main characters would end up united together. As a PK myself, I loved how she shared some of the pressures children of pastors have to live up to. This is my first time reading a book from this author, but it won't be my last!
David Conner is now my favorite book boyfriend. I loved him and I was so happy for him and Cammie. This was a happily ever after story and I highly recommend it.
Very good story with lots of details and stories about life on the mission field. David and Cammie make a good team. Their work in Africa is challenging and rewarding.
Fun Christian love story about two missionaries with huge hearts for Jesus. I love that we get to see them in action and hear what they are saying to the teens they work with (and maybe learn a little ourselves!). I like the unique angle about church politics and the influence of power in a missionary situation. Great story-telling.
I loved this read! It had me laughing with the reality of the romance, and the toughness of the family life of a PK. They didn't sugar coat the mission trials too much and it just made me smile while reading the cute story. I will be looking for more of this author's books.
Have read many Christian books, but this one is a little different in that it envolved politics of church. Just means that individuals that have positions, have to be careful to stay rooted and grounded in God's word and be in prayer to focused on what is really important.
A decent enough story of two Christian discovering love for each other. I am wary about the sections on Cammie'S role in missionary work, Mr. Connor's influence on his son and the way David handled the situation. Just by the direction of the dialogue I suspected the author was a wife of a man in a leadership role and a homemaker.
Very well written. A solid Christian romance with well-developed characters and a plot that came right up to, but didn't quite achieve, intricate. I'm very disappointed in the ending, but would totally read a sequel. Camille and David are memorable and I'm actually happy for them, fake tho they are.
A really good story about God's mercy, protection & love told with warmth and humor. A story that exposed less than perfect people that were leaders in a powerful church. But God's grace & mercy were shown. I really enjoyed this author.
Real believable characters - missionaries are real people! I hope there is not that much conniving and politics in Christian organisations though. It is possible though, and might help explain why there is no real move of the Holy Spirit in so many churches.
I moved the book from start to finish. I just didn’t like it that it ended with a cliffhanger. I wanted to read more of them. I wanted to know how he proposed to her. What was their life back in Namibia as a couple. So many more questions. But I did I’ve reading it.
Characters are real and you'll care about them intensely. The power plays among God's church members ... yep, real, disappointing, rarely black and white. Great job, Jenny Faulk!
A charming love story with just enough intrigue to make me purchased the sequel. Church politics and religious passions are craftily stitched within the lives of these two missionaries as they try to live out God's plans for their lives with faith and grace. I truly enjoyed this read.
I truly enjoyed the journey though this story with the main characters. A really great plotline, and so much to think about. Very enjoyable read and would recommend.
I enjoyed reading about Cammie and David their love story developed over time and it was interesting to read about David’s love for Cammie was started during his teenage years. Another great read!
