90 Days to Live: Beating Cancer When Modern Medicine Offers No Hope

"A touchingly triumphant remembrance combined with sober analysis."- Kirkus Reviews

"A must-read for anyone feeling trapped by their choices and thinking there's no hope."
- Dr. Eric Wood, ND

What if you were told you had 90 days to live?

For Rodney and Paige Stamps, Rodney’s “out-of-the-blue” cancer diagnosis quickly turned a normally hypothetical question horribly real.

When Paige met Rodney, a nationally touring heavy-metal drummer, they both fell hard. Rodney swapped his drumsticks for marriage, family, a job, and then, his own business.

The ‘90-Days’ diagnosis hit just as their business was starting to soar.

“You’re going to die” was the solemn verdict from numerous MDs, who promised only to briefly extend Rodney’s life. With both a growing family and business, and so much living still to do, Rodney’s response to the no-hope prognosis? “I don’t think so.”

90 Days to Live recounts the true story of the Stamps’ incredible and inspirational journey to find an alternative “answer to cancer". In the end..

They’d beaten the cancer and built a million dollar business.

While his weight dropped from 190 to 138 lbs., Rodney and Paige explored countless cancer “cures” of widely varying value. They even exposed a scam treatment being peddled by a mob boss—crossing paths with the FDA and FBI!

Alternately heart-wrenching and heartwarming—and delivered in an engaging dual-author format—90 Days to Live will speak to anyone struggling with an “incurable” disease, building a business under trying circumstances, or anyone who just loves a good old-fashioned, “beating-the-odds” story.

A well presented, inspiring and thought-provoking memoir.

I am very interested in medical memoirs and have read quite a few concerning cancer journeys. This book is totally different to any I have read previously in that the author didn't opt for chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy to treat his cancer.

Rodney had been a drummer in a heavy metal band when he met Paige. He'd later given that up and now a successful business was taking off. All is stopped in its tracks as Rodney has a devastating diagnosis.

He had been urged to have Chemo. It's the accepted usual. But he really didn't want that. He was desperate to find another way. They get well-meaning friends telling them of various weird and wonderful treatments that people they know have had and supposedly been cured. One sounds interesting and very hopeful. But then the terrifying truth about this wonder potion emerges. After reading what Rodney found out, I looked on google and was shocked at the images where some people had been disfigured by this. Thank goodness Rodney didn't go for this-he did check out alternative treatment options thoroughly. The protocol he did go with often made me cringe at what he had to do and what he had to eat! But, having said that, chemo is terrible, with awful side-effects, but because that is often the only treatment we know of for cancer, it's all just accepted.

With passages throughout the book written from both of their points of view-it flits alternately from Rodney to Paige in fairly short sections. Well presented and a good, intriguing read.

His memoir concerns a difficult subject, and I know some 'don't want to go there', preferring lighter reading. But this was strangely addictive, I had to read on to find out what happened. Which treatment would they choose? What would work? Would it be something I had heard of? It wasn't-and it wasn't what I thought it might be either.

He's been well, and cancer-free for 8 years. This is not just him saying so-he still sees the doctor who gave him his very bleak diagnosis all those years ago. He goes for monitoring visits: 'watching and waiting', as they call it. Wonderfully for Rodney and Paige, things are good; thankfully there is nothing to watch at the moment and they're enjoying life and business success more than ever.

A well presented, inspiring and thought-provoking memoir.

First, I want to thank Rodney and Paige Stamps, Verdavia Press, INC, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Rodney and Paige Stamps share their incredibly inspirational story in 90 Days to Live Beating Cancer When Modern Medicine Offers No Hope. This book pulled at my heart strings from the first paragraph and did not let them go til the last one! Rodney took you right along with him on his full journey with him when he felt he first lump to the first doctor appointment and so on. We get to be a fly on the wall.

This is why I highly suggest this book to anyone that was just diagnosed with cancer or someone going through it. This book has a ton of great educational information, books and Doctors referenced that could be very beneficial to many people. Not to mention he gives you personal stories of his treatment that he opted to do. He is an extremely brave man to go through the ones he discusses in the book! I don’t think I would have the stomach for either! My heart goes out to you Paige!

I was very fascinated reading about the Essiac Tea chapter as I am a huge fan of Tea. The fact that this tea could be a treatment for Cancer patients is amazing. The medical community just fascinates me. More so if you treat something without medicine, I am all for that.

In 90 Days to Live Beating Cancer you will read both sides of the story. You will read Rodney’ side and how this affects him. This isn’t just about his medical diagnosis. This effects his whole life. You will read all about that.

Plus, you will read Paige’s side of the story and how she recalls how they met and fell in love. That in itself is a beautiful story! They are blessed to have found each other and have each other through this!

In the book there is a beautiful picture of Rodney and Paige.

Being a reader and their daughter Jessika being a reader as well I thought it was funny when they would ground her to her room. She would just go up there and curl up and read a good book. Instead, they had to tell her not to go and read a book for pleasure until her punishment was up. Now to me that would be punishment enough!

At the end of the book you will read stories from two Enzyme Treatment Testimonials from two cancer heroes.

Amazing memoir of alternate way of fighting cancer and surviving

Well written in two viewpoints by a husband who finds out he has Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and 3 months to live and his wife who stood by his side. Definitely kept my interest and open-minded to alternative medicine.

Attacking cancer – an unforgettably inspiring story

Rodney and Paige Stamps are a team – not only in their together fight for Rodney’s outsmarting ‘terminal’ cancer but also in their family business Fire Alarm Systems Design Group, their cancer research and speaking engagements as co-founders of AttackingCancer.org, and now in this book.

Their wise and warmly accessible book surveys the diagnosis of Rodney’s non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the shock of the diagnosis, the agony and frustration of being informed that chemotherapy would only prolong life without curing the cancer, and their brave adventure in refusing defeat and instead finding all manner of information about alternative ways to combat the spectre of lymphoma and survive for thirteen years so far.

Opting for enzyme therapy as opposed to the devastating prescribed chemotherapy offers a ray of hope for many people who have been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Yet the book is not only about managing cancer with metabolic interventions, it is about the courage and determination on the part of both Rodney and Paige to stay the course and fight the unwanted intruder in their lives. Offered in a fine he-said she-said format, the points are driven home with one of the most exhilarating “Yes I Can” approaches to be found in the literature. Both Rodney and Paige write well, finding the lightness with the honesty and in the process deliver a tribute to the human spirit that rings clear. Highly recommended both as a solid book and as a font of hope for those facing not only cancer diagnoses but also any major challenge in life.

So Glad That I Found This Book!

After my 1st cancer diagnosis at the end of 2003, for Stage IIB breast cancer, I started 2004 with a lumpectomy, followed by chemotherapy and radiation, which took me to the end of the year. Given a clean bill of health, I was told that my cancer was completely gone. I never heard the word remission. In 2016, I had my esophagus scoped by an ENT in Oklahoma to find the cause for a lump protruding from the right side of my neck. Thankfully, although one of my vocal chords is paralyzed (still unknown why), I was told that I did not have lung cancer. Since we were unable to get any clear or knowledgeable answers as to what was happening to my body, my children helped me to move back to Texas, and I was able to see my original oncologist immediately. Super long story short, I was told that my breast cancer had returned, was Stage IV, and had metastasized in my bones. Yes, a terminal diagnosis! I had never been told that this could happen, and had never heard about this before, even from my research nurse! At this point, I am obviously still here after 3 years, but now, due to the incompetence of our government agencies, I have lost the medical coverage they gave me for free. Obviously, being disabled and having Disability benefits as my only source of income, I can afford exactly nothing. However, Rodney and Paige, I am so happy to have found this book in kindle format through Amazon. After reading everything, I have new-found hope that the protocol you followed can help me. I hope millions and millions of people suffering from any form of cancer will also read this and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your journey and experience. May God continue to bless you and your family. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I'll admit, a medical memoir isn't normally a book I usually pick up to read...but let me tell you, I am SOO glad I did. Because what I do appreciate is a well written story that is being told by a couple who makes you want to pull up a seat, grab a mug of coffee (well...maybe not coffee) and sit and listen for hours. I seriously picked up this book and didn't put it down until I was done...I have no idea when I finally went to sleep (Sorry, boss). How does a seemingly ordinary man whose family gets diagnosed with cancer (because let's face it, when someone has cancer it doesn't just affect them) look the disease that has killed so many people in it's face and say "No Thanks". At the same time, HOW does this same man tell his doctors, nurses, friends...strangers..."I'll pass" when told he MUST take chemo, one of the most common forms of treatment? In fact, that's where 90 days comes from...the doctor with his handheld calculator telling him how long he has unless he has this treatment. How does he do it? I'll tell you: Read.The.Book.

This book turned me off to the extent that I couldn’t even get past 40%. If you have to constantly put down chemo/radiation therapy in order to make your treatment plan look good, that’s pathetic. Why not simply speak about your chosen way to beat cancer instead of constantly bashing chemo. To say that all cancer patients you and your friends know who choose chemo are dead is ridiculous. To say chemo kills people is such an uneducated statement. I know many, many, many cancer patients thar chose chemo/radiation and are alive and well today. This book has the opposite effect on me. It didn’t help my curiosity about an alternative method of cancer treatment because it lacked credibility and seemed to say “my way is the only way”. That’s cold and uncaring and close minded.

This book attracted me with its subtitle “Beating Cancer When Modern Medicine Offers No Hope”. In the light of my own relationship with cancer, it sounded cool to me! Cancer has always been a painful subject to think about for me. My first introduction to it happened when I was six. Back then, I witnessed the death of my beloved grandmother. Even now, I still remember her last days. Then, my mom bravely battled the same type of cancer for twenty-five years.

“90 Days to Live” by Rodney and Paige Stamps is a wonderful example of how you can win the battle with this monster! Searching for the remedies, refusing to believe the doctor’s terrifying doom, supporting each other with true love. Rodney and Paige brought to us a story of their love from the very beginning – when they met each other and began to chat. Page gave us a lovely external and internal description of her husband, and together with her, we can feel her sadness, worries and her true care for him. Rodney loves to joke a lot, and this trait of his helps him to remain positive and be the same husband and father as he was before the terrible diagnoses – cheerful and caring. I like the way they built their story and plot. Both chapters – Rodney’s and Paige’s – have a harmonious combination of scene and sequel, and their dialogues are very engaging. The chapters take turns switching between Rodney’s and Paige’s perspectives, and that fact makes the reading process easy flowing and entertaining. The fact that this book was written in the First POV is to my liking. While I was reading it, I could tell that these chapters were not something that Rodney and Paige struggled to write, because these chapters vividly represent their very own experience. It turned out to be great because all their feelings were transmitted to the reader naturally, evoking a sensation in them. Emotional and uplifting! I would recommend this book to everyone whether the person has any relation to cancer or not. Definitely five stars! Thank you very much!

Wow what an eye opener this book was. Such an Inspirational read especially for anybody going through Cancer. I’m sure we have ALL been affected by this horrible disease in some way. I know I have lost many family members to Cancer and I only wish I had had access to all this information back then.

Rodney and Paige Stamps are in this fight together when Rodney is told he has Cancer and only has 90 Days to live. Paige you are an incredibly strong woman. I know inside you had to have been scared and nervous after hearing of Rodneys diagnosis and Rodney, Kudos to you for standing your ground and choosing your own treatment plan. How very disciplined Rodney is for following a regimented schedule of enzyme therapy as opposed to the traditional Chemotherapy. Ofcourse I don’t think this plan would have been as successful as it was had Paige not stood by Rodneys side pushing him and helping him to stick to this routine on a daily basis. In fact she went along and did it with him. That is dedication for you.

This book offers a ray of hope for many people whom have terminal Cancer. It also shows the Courage and Faith of Rodney and Paige fighting together for his survival. Even their two daughters are full of encouragement and routine for their dad to fight this. What an incredible family they are. I can’t imagine how very difficult this had to have been on the entire family. Rodney and Paige have their own Fledgling Business that sometimes required 80 hours a week. They couldn’t afford NOT to work especially with not knowing the outcome and having to pay out of pocket for the medicines. Very Inspirational read and a true story of Love, Courage & Bravery

I was fortunate to have won this book in a ‘Goodreads Giveaway’ and am under no obligation to leave a review. I enjoy writing reviews and I know how important they are to the authors. I would give this book 10 stars if I was able. I do believe this information will be extremely helpful to others suffering the same disease.

This is the true story of Rodney who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and given 90 days to live if he didn’t go through chemo and radiation and up to 5 years if he did. I give him great credit for risking his life to question his doctors and modern medicine’s approach to cancer. This isn’t a how-to guide. It’s his story, but there’s lots of information on how he did it. (He also has a website called Attacking Cancer.) In this book, Rodney and his wife, Paige, alternate the narrative. They talk a lot about their daughters and their business, which they had to keep going, especially because he didn’t have health insurance. Even if he did, it wouldn’t have paid for his alternative treatment. Despite the fact that it saved his life. There are quite a few books out there about people who have cured themselves of diseases, some of which were deemed terminal. Eating non-processed organic plant-based foods, exercising, sleeping enough are all recommended and it makes sense that if you give your body what it needs, it can heal itself in many cases. But don’t wait until you’re seriously ill. You can also prevent disease. Rodney went on a specific regiment, including enzymes and supplements. I’m so glad he and Paige shared his story to give others an incentive to take control of their health.

Rodney Stamps developed some lumps on his collarbone and in his armpit. Then it got worse before he agreed to see a doctor. The lumps affected his lymph nodes and were initially suspected to be Hodgkins Lymphoma, but were later diagnosed as Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma after a biopsy. When given the option of chemotherapy, Rodney refused because of relatives who had died from it. The doctor calculated that he would have about 90 days to live and agreed to give them two weeks to find an alternative treatment. Eventually, they were guided to a book by Dr William D. Kelley entitled One Answer to Cancer, which seemed like the solution they were looking for.

The book is mainly told in the first person and alternates between the viewpoints of the two authors. Although these each change of viewpoint is flagged with the author's name, to me the switches between the viewpoints still felt jarring. In my opinion, there is too much reference to their business. Despite this, their story is inspirational, especially when you consider that they spent extraordinary hours building their business while fighting cancer. I gave their story 4 stars.

Simply amazing. 5 stars isn’t enough.

This book is an eye opening read. I lost my mom to cancer twelve years ago this October. I remember the day she and I were alone in her hospital room talking about how she was going to beat it. The doctor walked in on our conversation and in the most blunt words I’d ever heard he told my mom that she may as well come to terms with the fact that she’s going to die because nothing is going to make her cancer go away. Just like that I saw life die in my mother’s eyes and watched her fade into nothing. Within two weeks she passed away. I don’t think I will ever forgive that doctor for killing the hope and fight she had. I wish I could have read this book back then. Rodney and Paige stamps gives the readers an intimate look into their lives and the battle with cancer. I love that they focus on letting the body heal itself. I appreciate that they shared both sides of their story.

Rodney Stamps was a devoted father and a husband to Paige, while working hard in their own fledgling business. A diagnosis of non - Hodgkin's Lymphoma was a huge shock for both him and his family.
Doctors suggested that he had just 90 days left to live!
Having experience of family members losing their battle with cancer after following a conventional treatment route, Rodney and Paige searched for alternatives. The choice they made as a team to follow a natural protocol, was challenged by his doctor.
In this memoir both Paige and Rodney share their experiences of the tough journey they faced in finding a way back to good health. Their positive attitude shines throughout.
My own father was diagnosed with the same disease aged 68, and despite a very brave battle he died 14 months later. I hope that Rodney's story will inspire others to seek the best journey towards a cure.

As I've always been distrustful of modern medicine (despite or because of being raised around doctors), I was truly happy to read about the Stamps' experience. The details they share are far more helpful & compassionate than what many MDs can offer. I was especially touched by how much harder they had to work, further taxing themselves physically, just to finance a good man's desire to continue living. I hope our legislators read this before negotiating health care on the Hill. I received a Kindle edition from a Goodreads giveaway.

This was a fascinating story to me. I have lost a couple of loved ones to cancer, and am currently watching two more fight it, so a book like this means a lot to me. I was very interested in the protocol Rodney followed; it makes sense to me to feed the immune system and the body, but starve the cancer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in non-medical ways to treat cancer, as well as those who enjoy a good memoir.

This is a beautifully told story of a couple's journey with cancer. Their fortitude in bucking conventional treatment and sticking to a difficult alternative protocol is simply amazing. They do this while respecting their doctor even when they went their own way. Personal stories are woven in the text giving flesh to the personalities. Their love for one another is palpable and jumps off the pages. Very well written, easy to read, and hard to put down.

Easy to read memoir from the perspective of both husband, who is diagnosed with cancer, and his wife, who walks through an alternative protocol to beat cancer. Inspiring and thought-provoking with regards to the way the medical fraternity simply accept a prognosis and run through the regular motions of so-called 'healing.' I would recommend this book to anyone who is diagnosed with cancer, as well as other family members.

Life changing!

This book is a must read really for everyone. When we consider that one in two people get cancer, we need to be armed with truth.
As I have always stated, the pharmaceutical company is only a pour money. There is a cure for cancer but it is not found in drugs.
Read this people. Knowledge is power.

Wow! Astounding!

A book about being diagnosed with cancer and only having 90 days to live. Info on chemotherapy, which is scary. Rodney’s decision to follow an enzyme protocol instead of chemotherapy. I don’t know how he did everything for the protocol, but he did. A Great read. Inspirational!
