A murder at the museum of magic. A witch hunter who will stop at nothing. A missing angel.
Willow Tree Falls' residents are excited about the opening of the new Museum of Magic and Witchcraft. That is everyone except Tempest Crypt. After her demon hunt, all she wants is a hot bath, a brownie, and her fluffy slippers. Mayor Mannie Winter has other ideas. He twists Tempest's arm so that she's forced to run the security at the museum on the opening night.
What should have been a simple job turns into chaos when a renowned witch, and insufferable know-it-all, turns up dead at the opening, displayed on the ducking stool.
With Dazielle, the head of Angel Force missing, Mannie insists Tempest look into the murder. She reluctantly takes on the case, but soon discovers Mannie can't help but interfere, which is a problem because he's a suspect.
Did Willow Tree Falls Mayor commit murder, or is there something darker going on in the village?
As Tempest puts the clues together with the help of Wiggles, she's distracted by her sister's upcoming wedding to the creepy warlock, Toby Matlock. Toby is trouble, but Aurora can't see that. Tempest can't allow her sister to make the biggest mistake of her life. But if she stops her from marrying Toby, Aurora might never speak to her again.
When a second murder occurs, the mystery takes a frightening turn. Is there a witch hunter in the village? If so, who's the next target, and will Tempest be fast enough to stop them from striking again?

A good read but seemed to be lacking the 'zing' that I expect from this author. The plot was well thought out and answered all the questions raised. The characters were as good as every but it just felt a bit lacking. Not sure what. When the mayor corners her (as she returns from another successful demon hunt) with a request (that she can't refuse) for her and a couple of others to provide security at the museum's opening she grudgingly agrees. However all is not well and the main exhibit of a ducking stool has been used to kill one of the VIP's. Okay the woman was argumentative and rubbed everyone up the wrong way but murder was way over the top. Added to that the head of Angel Force is out of town, the Force is in disarray and now she's been tasked with finding the killer. Further the mayor is telling her how to run (or rather how not to) the investigation. There seems to be a long list of suspects from an author set to publish a best seller to a new custodian at the must that seems to have old magic running through her veins. Throw in her sister's obsession with sleazy Toby, another murder, Angel Force refusing to do their duty, Wiggles is in fine form and an attempt to kill her sister. Can she find out who the killer is and stop them? What can she do about Toby (actually it high time he got his comeuppance).
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters with a slightly dark and unique storyline. Tempest is a witch who also happens to be a rogue Demon Hunter. Her family who are all ridges in a small town protected by magic guard the demon prison which lives under their local cemetery. Tempest goes outside of the town and captures escaped demons as well as other demons causing problems in the world. She comes back to town when finished two turn the escaped demon over to the angel squad who are basically the local police. She also owns a local tavern in the town. It is very unique and entertaining and a fun series to read. Check it out
No one messes with Tempest’s family and gets away with it!
Tempest is blackmailed into security at the local museum when a well known researcher is found dead in one of the exhibits. At the same time, Aurora’s possible wedding to the evil warlock consumes her mind. Another murder happens and all hell breaks lose! Its up to Tempest to figure it all out because the angels sure aren’t helping!
I feel like this series has such potential and always manages to miss by a hair. In this case, Tempest is put in a position to solve a murder mystery. Her method of doing so involves deciding each potential villain is guilty, or not, and then just moving onto the next involved party; never really logically finding the murderer, but rather stumbling upon the answer. Not very satisfying to my way of thinking.
I’ve grown to love this series as a whole and I couldn’t wait to read this book. The mystery was as good as ever, Wiggles was his funny self and the suspects always interesting. What I did miss was more of Tempest with her family and Rhett, he’s hardly in it! The next book is going to be good and I hope Tempest finally takes down Toby.
A new museum is opening in town, bringing in a few outsiders as consultants. When there is a murder, the head angel is on retreat and her subordinates are useless, Tempest is asked to step in. With twists you won't see coming, fast paced action, and wonderful characters, this a a must read!!
Wow, this was intense! The twists and turns had me as confused as Tempest was trying to figure this out. The angels are totally worthless when Dazielle isn’t around. I was surprised how bad they are at their job. His whole Toby thing has to be solved soon. He’s bad news. And Wiggles is still awesome! I love that hellhound!
Wow. Lots of twists, turns, and new discoveries. I am anxious to see what Tempest does to Toby. I knew he was a sleaze, but he outdid himself this time. Tempest has more in her than she lets herself believe.
It is awesome that Tempest catches bad demons for her side job and always helping the angels solve any murders. Now she is solving two all by herself while the boss angel is away and the rest are useless. Very funny and full of cake!
Tempest agrees to act as security for the opening of a witch museum, when a murder occurs. I like the pilot and the humor. It is funny to see Tempest put up with incompetent Angel's, and and all of Wiggles's schemes to get sweets. I enjoy thus series.
I like the books, characters but at the end of 5 books the story is left hanging with the advice to read more books in the series. I find that frustrating
