Brave Lion, Scared Lion tells the story of two brother lion cubs, Jake and Jasper. Jake always acted brave and showed off while Jasper was shy and liked to watch. Then one day Jake was in trouble and his bother, Jasper saved him and they learned that being brave was not the same as showing off but facing danger and using skills to get out of trouble. The mother lion showed approval and love for both brothers throughout the story, which is the feeling that the book gives young children of being safe in the loving family.
I think this is a book many chldren can relate to. All children can think of a child that's either "brave" or "shy". The story of the lion cubs makes the idea slightly more fun and different than if it had been children.
Enjoyed this read. I can used this book when instructing students about being disobedient and not listening. You can also use this book to talk about being prideful.
