Poseidon's Academy and the Deadly Disease: A Magic Boarding School Series

Rate this book
Battling psycho sea-nymphs and monsters was so not how Hailey imagined spending her time at high school. Hailey returns to Poseidon’s Academy for her second year of high school. She hopes this year will be less eventful than the last, but with the nereids still intent on resurrecting the gods, she doubts it. They become the least of her worries, though, when a special ops team known as PET infiltrates the school, taking everyone hostage. Their mission is to explore the palace and procure anything of value before reporting the palace’s location to their superiors. Hailey doesn’t think things can get any worse, but then students start falling sick with a deadly disease that not even an Asclepius can heal. So now Hailey must keep the nereids from resurrecting the gods, stop PET from shutting down the school, and find a cure to an incurable disease. *** Scroll up and click ‘buy now’ to join teenage demigod Hailey for high school in a magical academy where adventure, monsters, and vengeful gods await. _________________________________________________________________________________ Here's what readers are saying about this middle grade fantasy
“Funny fast paced good light read. Recommended to my kids can't wait to read the next one.” Heather, Goodreads ★★★★★ “Sarah A Vogler leads us through a mind-boggling maze of Greek mythology, Gods and some serious villains. I’m in awe of such an entrancing story and can not wait to dive under the waters and beneath the pages of Hailey’s continued adventure.” Kellie, Goodreads ★★★★★ “This story and the whole series is really good. I agree it is a great way to introduce kids to reading and encourage an early love of mythology and history. If any age enjoyed Harry Potter read this series you will enjoy it as well.” Vickie, Goodreads ★★★★★ “What an incredible book!! I was swept away in this wonderfully written book. With the impulsivity you would expect from high school freshmen, we watch friendships grow and individuals learn who they are. It was a very unique spin on mythology with plenty of adventure. I think fans of Rick Riordan will greatly enjoy this book but it also has a bit of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer feel to it as well.’ Amy, Goodreads ★★★★★ “A very fun read with lots of action and daring. I liked that a part of the message was facing one sphere no matter what.” Ciayrra, Goodreads ★★★★★

Going into the second book with excitement after the first and I wasn’t disappointed. From the first chapter there was twists and turns and mayhem at Poseidon’s Academy. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the ending and I really can’t wait to see what happens with that.

OMG 😱 I LOVED this book!! Poseidon’s Academy and the Deadly Disease was even crazier than the first one. Hailey’s second year is full of so much drama, mystery, and danger—I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time!

Greek mythology + magic + school life + this awesome squad = PERFECTION. Okay, I need to talk about Aaron. I thought he was t heir best friend, but then he goes and betrays everyone by working with PET—the special ops team that infiltrated the school. Like, what?? 😭
But let's talk about the rest of the book, because WOW. Hailey’s second year at Poseidon’s Academy is even crazier than the first. There's a deadly disease spreading through the school, and no one knows how to stop it. Hailey and her friends—Jayden, Hailey, Demi, Alec, and Aaron—have to figure out how to save everyone while dealing with the chaos PET is causing.
The action is nonstop, the twists are wild, and the emotions are real. I couldn't put this book down! If you love Greek mythology, magic, and epic adventures, this series is a must-read.

Great storyline.

Hailey and her friends sure fall into messes. This was a great story. I liked the flexing of old myths. Would have liked an explanation of the vision Hailey had of Hope in the sick room with the seed. I wondered if the trees that Zesus made were a cure. Guess not. Looking forward to the next book.

Still a very original and entertaining setting, but I felt this one lost its way a little - a bit long and repetitive, and the government threat felt really random. We don't know enough about the world outside of the Academy for the government to be brought in out of nowhere.

The book wasn't necessarily bad. I read the first book around four years ago when I was still young enough to relate to the characters and I enjoyed it, but now that I'm older I guess all the constant teenage whining bores me.
But Demi forever remains annoying ever since book one.

Just got done reading this second book of the Poseidon's Academy series. I thought the first one had potential, so I went into this second book with my hopes up, and thankfully, those hopes were well met.

The book doesn't really introduce us much to the characetrs or the setting, leaving it to the reader's memories of the first book, but everything that was established in the first book is here but upscaled. There are dire threats, good times, bad times, classes, activities, hanging out, adventures and misadventures. We get to meet new characters, including welcome additions to the student body that Hailey and her group end up befriending, which leads to a big positive, in that a good number of the other students outside of Hailey's four closest friends are given a good amount of attention, both friends and enemies, as even twin bullies Nerissa and Cleo got a chance to shine and do more than just blindly follow Venus around. And I was especially glad to see Tahlia get plenty of dialogue, scenes and things to do, in big part because, out of everyone, her power is arguably my favorite of the lot.

Honestly, not much negative I can say about the book. If anything, it's that, much like the first book, Hailey's still often a huge worrywart to the point of coming across as very negative and paranoid, this because in just about every situation, her mind instantly jumps to the worst possible outcome, even if said outcome doesn't even exist due to reassurances by people who are in the know about said situation. She almost always thinks things are going to go badly, that this place or that isn't safe, that there are monsters, death and danger lurking around every corner. It can get very annoying, but fortunately, as the book moves along, she does step up when she needs to, displays moments of bravery and tenacity that were needed to get her to develop as a character, so I was glad to see that. Hopefully her paranoia and negativity is lessened as the series moves along and she can display more moments of bravery and badassery.

Overall, I quite enjoyed this book thanks to improving on what the first one set up. I'll definitely be reading the next one.

This book was incredible ... I enjoyed it even more than the first instalment. Kept me guessing and the pace was so perfectly intermixed with action, description and the building relationships of characters.
Love this series and can’t wait to read more.
