Ah yes the rulebook we’ve all been waiting for, it’s nice to finally have peek inside.
The Necromunda Rulebook contains everything we saw in the N17 boxed game rules as well as the Gang War rules.
As the title title suggests the Rulebook is a ‘how to play’ guide. This book contains the general principles of the game as well as the core rules such as; movement, shooting, close combat and game structure.
This book also contains rules for running Psykers; their powers and how they are applied into the game.
There are rules on how to a (Dominion) Campaign as well as a handful of scenarios (from all the gang war books).
The book looks good and everything is easy to find. Gone are the days of posted notes having to spruce up your rule book. The table of contents in the beginning really helps you find the main points as well as the quick reference in the back also helps in being more efficient.
There are no specific rules for any of the gangs however, for that you will need to purchase ‘Gangs of the Underhive’. Bounty hunter rules are found in the later ‘Book of Peril’ along with the badzone environment rules. The rules for enforcers will be in the upcoming ‘The Book of Judgement’ along with the new ‘Law and Misrule’ campaign.
The Rulebook is well made but the split of the two main pieces of content is a blatant money grab ($182 AUD for the first two book alone).
Pretty fantastic hardback presentation with full-color interior. Even for someone who has played the previous version the rules look a bit complicated, but hopefully, that will smooth out with some practice. Unfortunately, there is yet another gang rulebook required before I get the chance to try out the game.
