“Clever, funny, heartfelt, moving, inspiring, and wonderful!”

In this humorous and thought-provoking collection Hutcheson kicks the door down on convention and pulls you into a universe where anything is possible. From true love to world peace, from talking clouds to drunk pixies this hilarious book reminds one how fun and beautiful life can be.

"I get inspired at around three in the morning when the rest of the world is sleeping. People start getting careless with their dreams about that time, and dreams begin floating down my street. I sit on my front steps and watch them drift by in technicolor stardust bubbles. It’s a good way to find out what kind of neighbors I have and if they have any imagination…”

Black Sheep Rebel Girl is the first book in the humorous/short story/prose Rebel Girl collection. It features irreverent tales, and whimsical thoughts and observations about life, love, and being human. If you like to laugh, and if you like out-of-the-box stories and feeling free, you will love Rachel Hutcheson’s book.

This book is a TREASURE!! The world SO needs Rachel Hutcheson's out-of-this-world viewpoint of life! She's funny as hell as she sweetly, yet irreverently, sculpts each of her highly unique short pieces for the benefit of us all. She brings out the "black sheep rebel" in each of us, which is so freeing and uplifting! You canNOT read these pieces without a smile on your face. You'll find yourself chuckling and sharing selections with your spouse or whomever. What a kickass breath of delightful fresh air!!

Sometimes I feel that all of this “adulting” malarky stifles any imagination or creativity. Perhaps it’s because there’s no time to daydream or play anymore?Thank you to @blacksheeprebelgirl for sharing a rainbow-hued slice of your imagination with me through this #gifted anthology. Your poems and tales of pixies, clouds and New York elephants made me smile and take the world a little less literally for a while.

This was a fun, imaginative read that I received from a Goodreads Giveaway. Not all of it was relateable and the stuff that I didn't relate to I really didn't like, but there was enough that made me smile and made me laugh and I love that. I feel like Rachel writes both for herself and without worrying what that means to those who come across her work.

Rachel is unique and authentic. The Black Sheep Rebel Girl grabs life by the tail and doesn't let go. It's a fun filled ride upright or upside down. Love this positive book and it's badass quips.

I was worried this book might turn out to be the random ruminations of a bored teenager believing themselves deeper than they really are, rather than the playful exercises of an experienced writer. Thankfully it’s the later. This book is a fun, thoughtful read. While some “stories” are better than others, it’s a mostly solid collection of creative pieces held together by themes of hope, humor, and a sense of peace sorely lacking from most works published nowadays...

I truly enjoyed reading this book. It was filled with warmth and laughter, several short stories and poems. It was light and airy off the cuff comical. This book is truly a treasure. A must read.

Creative, uplifting and amusing

This book is filled with wry, short vignettes, musings and stories. Some are very short, only a few paragraphs or lines. Even the longest seemed only a few pages. But they’re packed full of positivity, whimsy and light, which makes for a fast, encouraging read.

If you are looking for a more traditional narrative or a conventional, plot-driven story, you won’t find it here and this book may not be to your taste. If you are looking for light, fun, self-aware meditations on being the “weird one” at the party, you’ll probably enjoy this. I did.

Waste

This book cost $3.99 and got rave reviews, so I thought, "What have I got to lose?" Here is what I lost: 45 minutes of my life and $3.99. I wasted both. This book is an example of the saying, "anyone with a keyboard..." If this is not self-published, have publishing standards dropped to these depths? At least consider a new editor: in my kindle edition, in the musing ( is that what it is?) "Head Trip", there is a typo, second to last sentence ---subject "you" is missing. That may sound like a petty thing to point out, but that's the least of the problems here, and I'll leave it at that.

Common ground

I think I must be shallow, or at least too concrete realistic to get most of Hutcheson's writing.
Then I read Forever, Memories, and Big Old Knot. Those words were big, bold print because I've lived those words.
And Reading Minds. My eyes are both gray blue, that's why people tell me their problems even when I don't ask.

Hutcheson writes for herself. My experiences and thoughts aren't hers. But I found some common ground and it was good.

Interesting random fluff

I wasn’t sure what to expect, given the title. Some of the longer stories were quite delightful, like being caught up in the fantasies of a children’s book as it’s being read to you. Others were super random musings of a diary entry distracted. Most of the writings were upbeat and fanciful, while others were a bit sarcastic. Random but enjoyable quick read.
* I received this book for free from Goodreads for my fair and honest review.

A really compelling collection of short stories

A very relevant (and sometimes irreverent) and modern take on storytelling. Sometimes laugh out loud and at other times poignant. This is very well written with very few lulls. There are some great ideas bouncing around in there. Thoroughly enjoyable!

This book was another Goodreads giveaway win for me and I loved it! I read it as quickly as I could in one sitting. Funny stories and some got me thinking too. I even considered sending off for a love spell! 😂

This takes everyday events, much like Jerry Seinfeld's sitcom, and gives us a second look, to often hilarious and always thought provoking results. I laughed out loud many times. I will read this book over and over again.

This book is for those who want to get back in touch with their inner-child. It’ll make you laugh, smile, and hold back tears in the dark of night. Rachel’s view of the world encapsulates the reader and catapults them high up into the clouds.

I must be a plain Jane kind of person, because honestly, I didn't get this book at all. It is very clear, though that the author, Rachel Hutcheson, is very passionate about writing.

I found this collection of poems whimsical, creative and slightly rambling. While they seemed cute and fun, I personally did not get anything out of reading them.
