As with all short story collections, a few of the stories are really well written and enjoyable and some are just meh.
My least favorite in the collection was Sabrina by Stacy Reed. The story felt disjointed, like the author had a much longer story, cut out sections in the middle and never smoothed out the transitions. Also, it felt like it was written by a man, trying to write as a woman. The aim was very result oriented, instead of enjoying the journey.
One of my favorites in the collection was the story written by Kelly Conway. The character, was an author struggling with how to write a short story -- something I can relate to. There were surprises along the way and the surrealistic touch was elegantly done.
Each story in the collection, with the exception of Sabrina was filled with sensuality, touching moments and self-discovery.
My favorite story in this book is "Letter From New Orleans" by Catherine M. Tavel. This tale is a window into the unbridled passion of strangers in an exotic city. It is intense and satisfying.
This was the last of the series I read. I had gone through a long time of reading women's erotica and Victorian Erotica. It has some differences from the more immediate men's stuff I had been reading. I am not sure it is that different but there were pacing changes. There tends to be more varied expressions of desire.
I am finally going through a backlog of books and cutting away things that I no longer read or that I have grown away from. Much erotica falls into this category. I am glad that I exposed myself to it. It has outlasted many more volumes.
Picked this from a second-hand shop a long time ago. I wasn't expecting much aside from the usual but was surprised by the number of queer stories included.
