Left alone at Marlow House with Sadie and Max, Walt expects Danielle and Lily to return by the end of the week. When they don't, he begins to wonder what happened to them.
The ghost of Marlow House doesn't scare six-year-old Evan MacDonald. When the child sneaks into the house in the middle of the night, seeking Walt's help, the resident spirit learns something has happened to Danielle and Lily.
Can a ghost confined to Marlow House and a pint-sized medium bring the people they love home?
This is yet another great read. The twist at the end really really surprised me! And again I love the narrator. Definitely recommend reading this series.
4 Stars... This was a bit of a deviation from the norm of this series... Plane hijacking and kidnapping are not normal elements we have seen in this cozy mystery series... However, the author made it work and tied in the ghostly aspects to the main storyline brilliantly... I also enjoyed seeing more of young Evan and watching him navigate this story with bravery and honesty... With some twists and turns and an unexpected character change, this read was exciting and refreshing:)
Ooookay! Now I think I have a new favorite book in this series next to of course the first book. This was just wow and fun and I did some yelling at the book in the first half a few times hahaha. Very twisty in this one and unexpected things happening and yet so good. But overall, I seriously loved this one more! Now onto the next book!
No graphic blood and guts. No sex. Well developed characters twists and turns everything I need in a book none of the stuff that upsets me. I’m a nervous wreck due to hurricanes and husbands health and untold heartache. I need peace calm and diversions. These books help my soul with a break from stressors. I can read myself to sleep and continue to listen on the 2 hour ride to the doctor appointments all while diverting my stressors and calming my mind. Thank you for being that kind of writer.
Our friends take off for a romantic weekend ... Danielle and Chris, Ian and Lily, Joe and Kelly, Chief McDonald and Carol Ann . Walt is left with Ian's dog Sadie and Danielle's cat Max, while Chief McDonald's sons are left with his sister. Walt cannot keep track of time, but young Evan knows something is not right. He's heard his aunt and uncle whispering, and his Dad had promised to be home for a birthday party tomorrow. But no one has returned and they are a week overdue. So Evan makes a run for it to Marlow House ... where he knows he can talk to "someone". Can the ghost and a child help to rescue their friends?
3.0 stars (Audible). A departure from the typical formula for this series. I'm glad Evan got his 5 minutes of fame, but this story felt "incomplete" to me, so overall it's not one of my favorites.
The story starts out with a bang. What happened to Danielle, Lily, Ian, and Chris? Walt is alone with the pets and can’t find answers. The police chief and Morelli are also missing and presumed dead. Even Kelly and Carolanne are missing as they all took a trip together. Unfortunately, as the story unfolded it was less interesting to me than most and a let down from the suspension beginning. Story just seemed to drag. A must read or skim to keep up with the series however. Chris needs to give Heather a job with his foundation. I think he owes her one. I had suspected who was involved in the crime from the beginning and was proved right.
I cannot seem to get enough of these Danielle books! Fortunately, (Did I really say fortunately? !?), I'm home sick with the 2018 Influenza and am reading between naps. These books are so good that I don't even think about how miserable I feel. Great way to get away from your own fever. LOL Enjoy!
Plot for this one was far less interesting and I keep thinking that the potential is being wasted. The lady can see ghosts, and she keeps ending up in kidnap situations rather than solving old murders. Oh well, still fun enough I'll keep going.
Oohh... This time we don't exactly have a crime mystery but our entire cast of main characters consisting of Danielle, Lily, Ian, Chris, Joe Morelli, Kelly (Ian's sister), Chief McDonald with his gf, have disappeared and now it's upto our resident ghost of Marlow house to find their whereabouts.
But how can Walt do anything at all when he doesn't even know what has happened and when he can't even leave the Marlow house.
Bring in the twister, Little Evan, the chief's kid who can see ghosts and somehow figures out his dad is missing and feels that he can help his dad but first he might need the help of the Ghost he had befriended when he had visited Marlow house.
Ahhh.. I was so scared but also was hooked onto this ride, wondering how would Walt be able to pull this one. And I have to say, our author has brilliantly written the plot turns such that you feel hopeless and are quite surprised when little by little things start moving and you'll be like wow... This is so genius.
I loved how with the help of little Evan, our other spirit viewer, Heather and a surprise helper makes way for Walt to be able to plan things out and make things happen.
I oh so loved how they go about not only piecing together clues, while Walt does his best to try and dream hop but it's also tricky with not knowing when Danielle or her friends might be slumbering.
Another Unputdownable book with my favorite narrator, Romy Nordlinger with her perfect voice making this ride fun, suspenseful and such a gripping one. I had oh so much fun and couldn't stop listening to it. Can't wait to dive into the next one. Loved loved this one. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This was a completely different break from the norm and it was well done! Danielle and the gang get hijacked and kidnapped with everyone believing the worst. Enter Walt and Evan to the rescue! Young Evan was a star in the beginning, believing that his dad was still alive and doing everything he could to get help. Evan teaching Walt how to use modern technology and Walt taking care of the young boy was a fantastic exchange.
I found Heather to be a much more enjoyable character this time. She was much more alive in this book than normal. Needing to be needed definitely helps her character and I hope that in the coming books we see her find a career that embodies that. Her abilities at seeing ghosts is also growing and I am hoping with that comes more spirits that all 3 people can help in different ways.
I saw the ending coming just shortly before it was deduced in the book and I was still shocked. So many great twists and red herrings to bury the lead! This definitely broke up the series and made some great advances in the character development. As always I cannot wait for the next one!
I liked this book ... sort of (???) In this one, Chris inexplicably takes all the main characters on a trip on a chartered plane (because ... why not? He's rich!) to some event that he has tickets to. They all get kidnapped and held for ransom, so the Chief's ghost-seeing son comes to the rescue, along with Walt.
I do like the stories and the characters, but it at this point it feels like the author is stretching it a bit to come up with the improbable plots. And that's saying something, considering that we're talking about a plethora of ghosts here. And EVERYTHING revolves around how rich Danielle is and how rich(er) Chris is, and everybody in the story has plenty of money.
I don't know... there's just something off-putting about the whole thing for me, even though I continue to read the books and like the characters.
This book draws the reader in from the first page as the story unfolds. The mystery is suspenseful. I love this series and this one was the best one so far, although I've been known to say that before.
Chris, Danielle's millionaire friend, decides to take Dani and 3 other couples, a total of 8 people, via private jet for a trip to Texas. They are kidnapped and have no idea where they are being kept. The ghosts at home in Marlow House have to figure out how to find the missing people, which includes the police chief and another policeman, and get that information to someone who can rescue them. It was rather ingenious! I was truly shocked at who one of the perpetrators was.
This book is riveting and filled with lots of excitement. I couldn't put it down. I read until 3:00 am until I just couldn't my eyes open. Danielle and all of her close friends go on a trip that puts them all in danger (no spoilers as I hate reviews that give away too much and ruins a book for others). They are rescued by three people you never anticipated working together.
The Ghost who Stayed Home Haunting Danielle book 11
This was another winner. I love this series and this Author. She writes wonderful mysteries with ghosts. My favorite books. I highly recommend all her books and different series. I have read 11 books in 13 days. Once I start one of their books I read till I finish it, it took me till one minute to twelve to finish in one day. Diana Romano
None of these books let you down!! The mysteries are always solid. This book was good because it stated very differently with the whole group disappearing on a a vacation. Still has great humor and the characters keep developing well. I love the jabbing between Walt and Chris. It was fun to have quirky heather more in this book. This series keeps going and doesn’t disappoint. Book 12 here I come!
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. (Audible Membership)
What should have been four enjoyable days turns into a nightmare when Danielle and friends are kidnapped. Unfortunately, the one person who was to pay the exorbitant ransom was injured and in a comatose state. Luckily, Walt and friends were able to assist in locating and advising authorities of the groups whereabouts.
This is my favorite one of this series so far. It was a very different approach to telling the story but a very engaging one. I liked the introduction of some new characters and the development of some continuing characters. This was not a typical murder mystery but it was an interesting and challenging mystery. It was very interesting and clever how it was communicated and solved. Read it. You will enjoy it.
This has been my favorite book in the series so far. Had me guessing for awhile ( wrong a couple times I might add lol) but had it narrowed down to a couple. Glad to see more with Evan and Heather. Hope you enjoy and I can't wait to start the next book in the series
The past stories have been placed in Fredrickport, Oregon but not in book 11! What a turn of location and a twist in another Marlow House saga! I couldn't put the book down! These books keep building on previous stories while providing new and riveting storylines.
Is it just me, or was there a lot more profanity in this book? And I do not want to see a love triangle with a real person and a ghost. How are you gonna start forming a relationship with a real person while having make our sessions or even sec with a ghost in your dreams?? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 The whole giving millions away and someone usually a totally different name thing was dumb too
