I'm not sure how to judge this book, although it was set in the era that I enjoy reading about, this story was very different. The book introduces us to twins named Connie and Carrie at the time of Connie's wedding. After that the story focuses on Carrie as she starts work for a firm of accountants, and dates various work colleagues. Their father, Archie has returned to England after living in South Africa and he is involved in some incredibly suspect activities. I wasn't sure about this book to begin with but I did quite enjoy it in the end.

A nice read that my mum will enjoy.
Carrie is a nice interesting character, who does not have the easy life compared to sister Connie. As Carrie grows into her own person starting a new job, she finds out that being beautiful doesn't always grab the right attention and with her dad illegal business that starts to threaten her life and that other family.
Carrie is a strong character and that's what holds the story together.

Liverpool Gems by Anne Baker. Found this book at my local library. The story starts with a Wedding of one twin and ends with Wedding of the other twin. The story between the two weddings is an interesting one. Gems and where they came from, the settings the gems are put into.
