Entwined Fates #2

Star Crossed

Rate this book
Star Crossed By Trista Ann Michaels When a sudden twist of fate has Krista on the run with the arrogant and insufferable Galactic Senator Stefan Marcone, she'll need all her willpower to not give in to the seduction of the charming rake. She's had enough of men like him. But sometimes you have to just forget the past and take advantage of what's right in front of you, right now. Stefan hasn't stopped thinking about Krista since the day she dumped a bowl of punch over his head. Okay, maybe the kiss had been a little forward, but he hadn't been able to stop himself. Just like he knew he wouldn't be able to keep his promise to his sister-in-law and not seduce the beautiful blonde. Especially when they are forced to go into hiding together. The two will travel the galaxy, staying one step ahead of the man determined to see Stefan pay for his involvement with the rebel forces that brought down the previous dictator. Until the day Stefan decides he's had enough. He'll use himself as bait to catch the assassin. But it's not Stefan the assassin's after anymore. It's Krista.

Hi. I’m an erotic romantic suspense author. I write for Liquid Silver Books, Loose-ID, and Ellora’s Cave.

I live in the land of dreams, where alpha men are tender, heroines are strong and sassy, and villains are brutal and conniving. When not deep in the mind of my next serial killer, ghost or futuristic space pilot, I can be found in the mountains of TN, spending time with family and friends. At least until the next story calls.

This is my homebase. Make yourself comfortable.

I can't wait....to finish this book...uhhh...I'm not continuing after this one!! I mean it!! I know I've said it before about other books/series, but I cannot go on!!! And...the thing is, it's not that this is the most terrible book, it's just that I'm at the point, as a reader, that I am having an increasingly hard time finishing books that just don't do it for me...maybe my getting older is the cause, but I don't enjoy books with lots of sex anymore without the story being amazing or compelling...at first most of the books I selected had lots (and I mean lots) of sex with a decent back story. I'm more interested in an amazing story with some seriously good sex...guess I want it all now...are you feeling me?? I'm trying super hard at being more selective about my reading choices, but I feel really guilty about not reading a certain book beyond the "free sample" for fear that I may be passing up a really good book. But now that I really think about it, I don't think I've read a book that was "blah" in the begining and then turned out to be abso-fab after the freebie...sorry for the rant...

Another 100 pages and this one would have been GREAT. There was SO MUCH amazing chemistry between Krista and Stefan...it just wasn't long enough for me to flesh out their relationship. This book was just too short. These two barely got to know each other! They went from a punch bowl over the head to him taking her to Daego to sex on the first date to...bam! In love? We never really even got to see what Krista's issues were...and the plot was NOT as strong as in Captive. The sex scenes were hot, the romantic settings were on fire. That's about it. I hope the series improves.

I read book 2 of this series first, mostly for something to try and found I liked it. I went back to book one and I liked this one even more. To quote my comments on "Crossing the Line": I like this series. Nice world building (although as a sf/f reader I would love more detail about it and its history), very engaging characters, hot sex and the hint of lots more tales to tell.

The whole "we can never be together due to my personal insecurities" thing went on a bit long, but otherwise this was quite a fun read. I skim-read it while cooking dinner.

Stupid characters, lots of sex, and a cardboard villain...that about sums it up.

The main reason why I loved this book is because of the characters. The chemistry between Krista and Stefan is amazing! Just like the previous couple, the beginning of their relationship is based on the constant bickering and hot lust. Slowly they start to fall in love with each other.
The plot in this one is less interesting than in the first one, there is less action and suspense, but I didn't find any huge annoying flaw in this book of 160 pages so I didn't really care about the lack of a good storyline.
There are (of course, duh) a lot of sweaty sex scenes, and I believe the erotic is the major element in this book.
So if you're looking for a quick, enjoyable and sexy read, go for it!
