Does Elizabeth dare spend her life forever regretting what might have been, or does she choose a night with Mr. Darcy to remember?A Night with Mr. Darcy to Remember is just that—one night and quite a steamy one at that. At under 10,000 words, this story is best termed a novelette. It is short. It is provocative. A tale of two strangers in the night, it is also enticing.
P. O. Dixon has authored several Jane Austen "Pride and Prejudice" adaptations, all written with one overriding purpose in mind—falling in love with Darcy and Elizabeth. Sometimes provocative, but always entertaining, her stories have been read, commented on, and thoroughly enjoyed by thousands of readers worldwide.
Although this VERY short story isn't overly graphic, it is quite steamy, and the story revolves around Darcy and Elizabeth making love.
Jane and Mr. Bingley are married. Elizabeth is visiting them at Netherfield. Without the servants' knowledge, she changed rooms in the middle of the night because she is distressed and, with her original room in close proximity to Jane's, she doesn't want her sister to hear her crying. Mr. Darcy (whom she has never met) arrives unexpectedly in the wee hours of the morning and, by chance, he is directed to the same room. Both have different backstories than in canon.
Their sexual encounter is central to the plot. It's presented in the larger context of Elizabeth's hopelessness in her current situation.
The basic premise doesn't ring true for me. Elizabeth is already emotional and upset, and I would expect Darcy's appearance in her room would shock and distress her even more. What woman would NOT be agitated when a strange man suddenly shows up in her room at night, regardless of how handsome he is? Her initial reaction is way too calm, and she confides in him too easily.
The writing itself is beautiful and evocative, and both Elizabeth and Darcy are very sympathetic characters. Elizabeth is facing what she knows will be a miserable existence, and it's reasonable that she wishes for an experience of true passion to remember in the future. Really poignant. I think I would have been okay with the kind of comfort she begs from Darcy if their first meeting had been under different circumstances.
The end of the story offers an implied future HEA but leaves the reader to imagine exactly how that might come about.
Selling for $2.99 on Amazon, it seems like a lot of money for only 57 pages.
Hold on to your bonnets and beavers, you are in for a wild ride when Darcy gives Elizabeth a night to remember...
The sensual content was enticing but reverently done and did not take the senter of attention. The backstory was gripping, tugging severely on my heart strings. The story had depth and thoughtfulness, in the short spand of a novelette, which amazed me. It felt like nothing I have ever read before. I am being intentionally vague in this review as to eloborate would spoil your read and I want you to discover it for yourselves.

Very very short snippet of a steamy encounter with ODC at Netherfield. I wasn’t sure I would like this but it was well done and not trashy. And really not a story as such but you do get a set up for the scene and it makes sense. I did enjoy it.

Long after the Netherfield household has retired, a servant shows Mr. Darcy to an apartment thought to be unoccupied. The gentleman is more than capable of attending himself for the night, and thus the servant is dismissed. What is Darcy to do when he discovers someone else in his bed?

Utterly disappointed in her life, she is poised to embark on a path destined to cause her misery of the acutest kind mainly for the sake of her family.
Will Elizabeth put her own needs above everything else - if only for one night? Does Elizabeth dare spend her life forever regretting what might have been, or does she choose a night with Mr. Darcy to remember?
I, for one, love this author's work, and even her short snippets and stories are entertaining. She gives us a sometimes sweet and sometimes more sensual look at what might have taken place between Darcy and Elizabeth under different circumstances. I loved this sweet, sad tale of a young woman who believes that she will have no beautiful moments once she marries her cousin, as she has caught him in a major deception. She will go through with the marriage for the sake of Longbourn and her family. She makes the conscience decision to take some happy moments where she can. I enjoyed this book very much and can't wait to read the second part of the story.
This is what it says on the cover, a quick read about a passionate night with a stranger. Within six months, Elizabeth has lost her father, got married, lost her husband, got engaged again, found out distressing things about her new fiance. When Darcy is shown to her room accidentally they get to talking and more. Do not expect any resolutions here.
I usually like this author but this is not D&E. This is all sex and no character development. There is a significant change to cannon. This book doesn’t do D or Charles any justice. Her books that are the LONG variation are worth the reading.
This was a fun, short novella about Darcy and Elizabeth. I enjoyed reading this story and about both how Elizabeth and Darcy met and instantly connected with their similar situations and attraction to one another. This story was very short and it would be interesting to see it continued and if they find a way to be together in the future.
