Hope Cove #4

Whispers at the Bluebell Inn

Rate this book

Rumours travel fast in a village…

Josie loves her new life in the country with Sam. But she has a secret that she doesn’t want anyone to know. Unfortunately, it’s hard to keep anything to yourself in a tiny village.

Lizzie is adjusting to motherhood, and finding it more demanding than she ever expected. Life has become a haze of sleep deprivation and dirty nappies, and it’s taking its toll on her relationship with Max.

Emily has finally got the man of her dreams. However, life with Jack isn’t as straightforward as she expected. A certain ex-girlfriend and money worries wreak havoc on their relationship.

As the three couples reunite in the peaceful Devon scenery, what better place to catch up than the local pub? There are laughs, tears and rumours aplenty.

But one thing soon becomes clear: you shouldn’t believe everything you hear at the Bluebell Inn…

Please note: this is the fourth book in the Hope Cove series and is best enjoyed after the first three books.

Reading this series out of order is just going to rob you of an epic journey with this amazing bunch of characters. My advice is DON'T DO IT! Start at the beginning, you'll be glad you did.

This book was a phenomenal story of what relationships can be like in real life for the main characters of the series.

The ups and downs, the difficulty faced by a couple in their marriage when kids enter the equation. The insecurities and craziness that go hand in hand with learning how to just BE in a brand new relationship. The stresses that test us when trying to plan a wedding and learning to cope with loss.

And...

Here was me getting sad about not having an epilogue at the end of any of the first three books in the series which I didn't deduct a star as I usually would from the rating, I let it go because it's a series and that's the only time I let this kind of thing slide plus the books deserve full marks regardless.

But this book felt like the best sort of epilogue any reader could wish for. Not just a measly page tacked on at the end of the book. We got a whole book. YaY!

I'm totally delighted and with that I now declare that Hannah Ellis has become a favourite author of mine. I clicked the all important follow button on Amazon.

I only follow the WORTHY.

I'm going straight onto book 5 in the series. I'm excited to see what journey awaits me.

We’re back in Hope Cove with my favourite characters Lizzie, Josie and Emily. It’s the run up to Josie’s wedding and each of the women are going through their own problems which they are trying to deal with on their own. I love how the author highlights in this story how demanding a role motherhood is. Poor Lizzie is worn out looking after the twins. What I also liked is the reminder that there is no wrong or right when it comes to motherhood. Whether that being a stay at home mum or having a career. It isn’t a one shoe fits all role and no one should ever be made to feel any less for wanting different things out of life.

Along with the women, I do love Max, Sam and Jack. The books wouldn’t be the same without these guys and they are all wonderful in their own way. Supportive, caring and of course good looking always helps! In fact there are a great cast of characters throughout at Hope Cove that we have gotten to meet and I have a feeling that we will soon get to know Josie’s friends better as there is definitely a story with Tara especially!

Whispers at the Bluebell Inn is a delightful and lighthearted read filled to the brim of relationships, friendships and relatable characters. It’s like meeting up with dear friends every time you open one of these books in the series. They are welcoming, uplifting and you feel included in what is going on in the characters lives. I binge read the first box set in the series and can see me doing the same with the second box set as they are truly irresistible!

I just want to shout about Whispers at the Bluebell Inn- a fabulous feel good five star read!
I loved catching up with what was happening in the lives of Lizzie, Josie and Emily- would recommend reading the other 3 books first, but this one ties them all together beautifully.
Thoroughly recommend this and the other books in the Hope Cove series for fans of Chick-Lit and contemporary women's fiction.

Others seem to love this one best; I found it was the one I liked the least in the series. I prefer the books that focus on one character's arc rather than three separate stories. In addition, I guess I just don't like Lizzie and Max all that well--I find that I cannot relate to them easily, so while it's important to have their story continued, I just wasn't all that invested in it.

That being said, this is a must-read to bridge Book 3 with Book 5.

I really liked this book in the series. I have purchased all the audiobooks in this series and this is where my enjoyment of the series became more difficult. Since I am only listening to the book rather than reading, having the same narrator to all male and female speaking parts got confusing as to who was saying what. Sometimes I thought it was a male character speaking when it was a female. This is the book where having a single narrator doing all the vocals detracted from the story

I still don't really like Emily (boy, do I want to shake some sense into her!), but I feel like she's grown a little as a character. Or maybe I've got used to her? Who knows. I'd rather read about Josie (there were so many funny moments in book #2!) still, but hey.

In any case, I felt the ending was also far less abrupt/sudden in this book, which was one of my biggest complaints about the previous books. Other than that, I liked catching up with the other characters, .

disappointing

I have really enjoyed the clean nature of these books until this one. I think the situation about Emily writing erotic books under a pin name was unnecessary. I will continue reading the series and hope book 5 gets back to the more wholesome nature of the others in the series.

Another great addition to the series

My only negative is that the next book in the series will not be released for a month! Due to some recent events in my life I finally connected to Josie’s character. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Atttached!

I love the characters in this series! I am so attached to them! None of them are perfect and it's their flaws that make them so real.

I'm enjoying this series but I really don't like the character Emily, just find her whiny and irritating - unless maybe she is supposed to be like that.

I find it ironic that Emily needs someone to edit her book but it does not appears that someone edited these books.

Not real happy

I am really not happy with this book.
The characters seem very whining and needy.
I hope the next one is better.
