<>For all courses in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. The ninth edition of Kauffman’s classic text provides for its readers the most comprehensive overview and coherent conceptualization of the problems of students with emotional and behavioral disorders and the challenges their teachers and clinicians face. The unique framework of the text, five logically divided sections, each beginning with an introduction, aids professors and students alike to see and understand the big picture of the field and its issues, search the evidence that supports the identification and interpretation of the characteristics of students living with EBD, and learn about the necessary interventions teachers and clinicians use daily to address the needs of these students. It launches readers into a self-questioning mode and prompts them to think carefully and critically about behavior and its contexts.
Great overview of what emotional and behavioral disorders are and the assessment chapter give a strong insight on aspect of special education that might not covered in a mild to moderate disabilities course. I wish I got the case study book to go along with the text to get a wider picture of how ebd behaviors can be displayed.
Good read for a textbook. Kauffman and Landrum do a nice job of presenting issues and concepts from several different perspectives, most textbooks are one-sided, so this is an amazing feature.
