I bought this book to study for a CCPDT exam and found it so helpful for understanding canine body language. Barbara Handelman is fantastic at giving the key indicators to look for in assessing what emotions a dog may be undergoing and acting on in various situations. This book is an absolute must for trainers, and owners alike, in observation of body language signals. The pictures are very clear and show nuance. The author takes a great deal of care in explaining concisely the mechanisms of what is happening with the dogs in the pictures. The book is organized well and has a great range of emotions and actions to help the reader understand observable dog behavior. Canine Trainers/Behaviorists need this book in their library.

High quality and clear photos demonstrating a range of canid behaviour. Primarily dogs, with the odd wolf and relations. A handy reference for the more nuanced behaviours. This is primarily an illustrated handbook, so the text components do not go into much detail except to state the potential behaviour and associated emotions being presented in each snapshot.

Good, but a bit scholarly. I liked Aloff's book better as more approachable. Still, I like the way this is organized by body part.
