Season 1- complete 9/4/20
Season 2- ongoing @ Ch.97

Am I enjoying this? Yup it's fun.
But it's neither original nor compulsive.

Till season 1, I kept reading on and on, one chapter after the next but after season 2 starts, at some point I'm getting seriously bored. My mind wanders. My brain starts to go into recall and remembering all the things it wrote off as "later".

So apparently this manhwa accomplished the impossible and brought my brain up to it's "later". I will give it that, it's quite a feat. While great news for me, this did nothing for the manhwa ALTHOUGH it is picking up, if that last chapter has anything to say.

Also the author mentions how boring season 1 was for him and how he couldn't wait for it to finish so that he could get into this one and Yeah, that gives me hope.
So I haven't written this off yet!

Great Plot, great fight scenes, great concept however It doesn't really add up. Why the fvck did Desir choose Ajest over Romantica. You messed up the whole thing. Just because you like Romantica and Desir ship doesn't mean it will go on your way? don't fvck with me. The story wasn't even leading to that in the early stages. Why did you even bother putting up those scenes. Did you really plan all of this or did you just follow what most people likes? If you planned this at the very beginning, then you should've removed those touching scenes between Romantica and Desir. If you just followed what the reviews were saying, then you're no writer at all!

Interesting story and I love the thought out action. However, the manhwa doesn't do a good job explaining the shadow world. Another thing bothering me is like another reviewer said, if you have sentimental scenes with Romantica why is the romantic lead changing to Adjest? It makes no sense.

4/5 Stars (%74/100)

Overall, it was pretty good. These series tend to get better in time and one way or another, I was able to read 70 chapters and finish the 1st season. Desir is a good character and there are some cliche side characters but they are growing on me. The art style is pretty, the world is interesting and the story is mostly enjoyable. I'll be continuing with Season 2.

The premise: Desir Arman dies and is reborn (kinda) in the past and tries to do better so that he can change the future. He is a charismatic, mysterious, and powerful natural-born leader-type character. There is Pram the swordsman, Romantica the mage, and Adjest the magic swordswoman. The magic system is also pretty successful I would say.

Season 1 (1-70 C.): 3,5
Season 2 (71-150): 3,8
Season 3 (151-175): 3,2

Has interesting parts but is overall subpar. If the manhwa didn't exist I likely wouldn't have even have gotten past the first few chapters. Also, too many things don't make sense or go completely unexplained. Most of all, this type of self sacrificing character with trustworthy powerful allies should have done the obvious thing and confided in someone about the world ending events. Instead he mostly just becomes a personal trainer for people who are rather irrelevant grandscale. His inadequacy and shortsighted actions come off as childish, especially since he thinks he's taking everything so seriously. The only exception is his infrequent attempts at progressing technology by giving his genius friend hints and 'theories'.

“A Returner's Magic Should Be Special" takes place in a magical world on the brink of collapse. Despite the efforts of a final party of six—all that remained from humanity's defense—who come together to defeat a powerful dragon residing in a dangerous shadow world known as the Shadow Labyrinth—which had overrun the continent—they ultimately fail. At the last moment, Dezir, a skilled magician from the group, is mysteriously sent back in time without knowing why or how. With a second chance, his one goal becomes to prevent the deaths of his comrades and the foreboding events that led to the world's end.

I read the webcomic adaptation, not the original novel, and thoroughly enjoyed it overall. I know there are quite a few differences between the webcomic and the web novel, with the artist taking certain liberties, but it was still a very solid read.

The major downside for me was the inconsistency in translations, especially regarding the world-building and the magic system. Different translators made it challenging to understand some key elements, and even identifying some of the characters by name was occasionally confusing since the translations varied so much from chapter to chapter.

I also felt there was a lack of deeper relationship development outside of characters' direct ties to the main protagonist, Dezir. The romantic plots—whether the hints of Adjest and Romantica’s interest in Dezir, or vice versa—didn't bother me, but they felt strange because it seemed as if the characters had no other meaningful connections in this world. Their relationships with others felt underdeveloped, which made the social dynamic in the story feel a bit shallow.

That said, I absolutely loved Dezir's relationship with his past party members and wished it had been elaborated further in the new timeline. The story's major betrayal caught me by surprise in the best way possible, and the emotional impact there was well done. I only wish those past party members were more involved in the current timeline, so we could see even more of their interactions and camaraderie.

Despite some of these issues, the plot, magic, and characters were engaging enough to keep me hooked. The story had its share of highs and lows, but ultimately, it was a thoroughly entertaining read. If you enjoy stories about second chances, rewriting destiny, and battling powerful evil forces, this one is worth checking out.

Such a great story. It took me a week to read it all but I put the date as of 01/01/24 because I want it to count as my first book this year.

The world-building is phenomenal. I started the light novel before watching the anime or reading the manhwa. I can so understand why it was turned into those formats. The ambiance is so well described, and the rules of the world make sense. The protagonist can play with those rules but he doesn't break them.

The characters have depth. We don't get to know all their secrets, but there is always something behind them. Lost parents, a heavy burden disguised as responsibility, secret identities and more. It was hard remembering all the characters here but it helped that the names were anglo and not Asian. Gods, I have such a hard time remembering Asian names, especially Korean and Chinese. These characters had a unique flavor to them, and I could clearly distinguish them from one another. They sometimes behaved childishly but it wasn't as bad as the anime and manhwa portrayed it. It was fun, and I loved Pram for it.

The plot is intricate. The author leads you toward an ending all the time and then there is an unexpected turn. Then another. Then betrayal. The more turns. It never felt improvised: the author knew from chapter one how the story would end. I must admit that the final battle was not my cup of tea. I just wanted the story to continue. Things got more and more complicated when I just wanted a clean-cut battle. Well, the ending was worth it. And it's a matter of preference. In the manhwa it must look great, though.

This story took a long time to read but it was worth its length. I never felt like there was any unnecessary built-up. Every arc has its beginning and ending, and a purpose. I wish we had more time of Desir in class, but that would have been unnecessary and just for my enjoyment. What the author presented was simply perfect.

Gods, I had such a grand time.

This review is actually for the entire 270ish manhwa, but even as a first volume this was a really solid action fantasy regressor/reincarnation/OP isekai/transmigrator story. The regression was properly built into the story and explained, and the MC actually dealt with the emotions and effects that such a regression would bring.

The magic system was a little underbaked in the power scaling and different kinds/applications of magic, so whilst the story was at pains to illustrate that Desir is an "anti mage" and that's why he's special despite having so little power/mana, there are also plenty of times when he just randomly blasts people with uber-power for 'reasons'.

There's a really nice spread of characters who all get plenty of time to shine, including the villains. They genuinely grow over the course of the story, and their growth feels earned by their experiences. The plot is twisty and engaging, though there were times when the pacing was a bit slow and some of the sections felt a bit plot-tumoury. I don't think any of them could be cut entirely, because they end up making sense later, but at the time, I got very bogged down around chapters 50-70.

Another fun feature of this story is that the artist evolves with the story, so the art dramatically improves over the course of the manhwa. It was actually really neat seeing their skills grow and develop.

Overall, I liked this story for the engaging characters and the solid plot. I'm glad I pushed through the slightly soggy middle, because the second half of the story was absolutely banging, and the ending was satisfying.

The main problem with this is that the MC doesn't train, doesn't change, and takes no effort in any of his endeavors during the first and second season, and yet it's so strong and skillful because... time travel, I guess? So there is no tension, there is no sense of excitement. Nor progression. Yes, in the first shadow world he felt the tension of the situation... for like 2 chapters and then was miraculously resolved in half a chapter by romanica, so the MC barely learned the lesson "I can't do everything" by the route. Also kind of hypocritical with the wind-maker, but that's manwha bland protagonist syndrome. The rest of the cast feels so fulfilling and you can invest in them. For me, what I disliked of the MC is that he is a cryptid bastard for no fucking reason. It's so annoying how he keeps unnecessary secrets or goals from the rest of the party constantly because... he likes to be mysterious? That and he doesn't have a personality beyond "my friends died and have nightmares and I'm SAAAD". Like I honestly don't know anything about him at all beyond friendship

Season 1 - complete
Season 2 - complete
Season 3 - has not started

Season 1 and 2 were amazing. The adventures that Desir goes on was amazing and the story was very... intriguing? unique? amazing? Idk. But they're all that. I can't wait for Season 3 to come out. At first, I was wondering why it hadn't updated in so long. When I checked, the second season was already done. So I'm now stuck here waiting. Waiting, waiting, waiting. It's your normal reincarnation story and where he goes up the ranks to save his world from destruction but it's unique in its own way. I didn't mark it 5 stars because it's not as good as some other manhwa, manga and manhua's (Korean, Japanese, Chinese comics) I read but it's still pretty amazing so I definitely recommend this.

1/5 disliked. I got up to chapter 62. I actually forgot to write a review of this because I was sucked into World of Cultivation so quickly. Now that I have spent over 60 hours reading world of cultivation, I don't remember much about this story other than the fact that I dropped it.

From what I recall it's another boring regression novel where the mc finds the strong people and helps them, but for some reason he only finds two people and seems to do things randomly. His grand plans are only revealed when there is payoff, and it seems very deus ex. The mc and his two people are faffing around. It's very dry.

Read the manhua till chapter 199.
Decent plot, decent characters, the art gets really good the further you read.
At the first few chapters, the mc had an old man's face and a 16-year-old kid's body, it felt weird.
I especially liked the concept of the shadow world/realm. the fight scenes keep getting better and more complex and that's a great thing.
I still don't know if I will continue the story from the light novel or I'll wait for the chapters' update, but it was a fun ride.

Plot is amazing but i heard that the author will change ships to romantica? I hope not. I really want to see how the relationship of adjest and desir progress in the manhwa. And i want to see desir trying his best to improve not just training his party members and please dont chage ships. I like how adjest changed because of desir from cold/pround/arrogant to warm/caring/sweet.

The storyline is good. There is plot twist here and there. Reality hit you really hard when you realized why the world ended in the first timeline. Aside from that, the romance is just way too disappointing.
