Review: Again, another amazing book from C.E. Clayton! The adventures continue with Tallis and we’re in a new world. I loved the world building of this one and I felt that the mystery of Tallis is slowly unraveling. I liked that this book was a tad different than the previous one, we’re still left with a mystery at the end. This gives the book time to flesh out everything that’s happening and it’s A LOT. I also loved that the author included a LGBT relationship. The writing was as great as the other books and I can’t wait for the next one.
However, I do feel that this book is slower paced than the others and it unnerves me a bit to read it. I’m wondering if there’s a huge reveal that will happen in book 5 and I’m interested in seeing how this huge mystery comes to rest. But, just to be clear, it does end on a cliffhanger, so you might want to read this with book 5 if you’re not a fan of cliffhangers.
Book 4 was just as exciting as book 1 for me. It was full of intrigue, action and new characters. Some series can go off the deep end as they get further into the story (& that was my fear after book 3 started so slowly), but this one brought me right back in.
Loved it!! This is a strong continuation of the MOS series! Clayton does a great job pulling the reader in immediately. The book starts off with a gladiatorial type of competition that is absolutely action packed. The regular cast of characters are all present in this novel (Tallis, Tomas, Rosslyn, and Colben). They are forced to navigate the complex caste system and make a name for themselves in Arcadia’s society in order to get the support they need to ultimately return to Selkirk. Tallis discovers a lot about herself and being an elandili through the course of the book. Clayton builds the country of Arcadia with amazing clarity and creativity. It is a land of nobles, castes, and political maneuvering. We get introduced to some new characters. We also get introduced to some problems that still need to be resolved by the end of the book— as a whole you definitely feel the build-up to some major drama in book 5. Thankfully, book 5 is already available to read!
😍😍😍 Is this not an appropriate review? No? Alright, fine! I will write a detailed review tonight or tomorrow! Going to start the next book ASAP!
Here we go...Intrigues of Arcadia indeed! Absolute love, rolled straight into the next book already. This book contains so many wonderful bows I can't help but feel true bliss. Though it does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, it's not in a way that made me feel crazy/angry! Instead, I was left Elated! You enter a world of political plays taking advantage of our beloved group, using their dire situation to their gain. The benefactor, as much as she can be called, is indeed as shrewd as you can imagine. A perfectly cast character who you know, as a reader, to be wary of for our protagonists. Yet, the benefactor is only one moving part in this game of chess played within Arcadia. Desires for earning higher rank, pirates, loves blossoming, fruition of hopes and dreams all come together to lead into book V! The detail must be appreciated, as I could see and feel all that each character went through. A beautiful balance, for me, of the undercurrent of events, fighting, and romantic endeavors that wavered and crested. Read, Love, Enjoy!
