Written almost 40 years ago, this work provides historic perspective of how sexual violence emerged as a field of study. It's as direct and research-supported as a work can be, given how little there was to work with in the mid-1980s. An invaluable time-capsule of research, language and focus on the survivor. Now if only someone had spent as much time researching the perpetrators' motivations.
