The last thing Logan wants to do with his entire summer is go to some fake mythology-themed camp, but that’s exactly what he’s stuck doing. When he gets there, it’s even worse than he imagined. The moment you say that you like GREEK mythology but the name of the camp is Hercules who is a roman God
Heracles is Greek and Hercules Is Roman

Blatant PJO ripoff, and unfortunately not a good one. Plot development and characterisation especially leave much to be desired. As many others have mentioned, was any research about Greek Mythology even done? (Hercules, really?)

Plagiarism, mockery, idc what you call it but it's a disgrace. Off to reread the original to cleanse my eyes.

I'm sorry, but this is just a Percy Jackson ripoff. The one question I had was is this a Greek or Roman camp? It says Greek mythology, but the camp is called Camp Hercules. Like what? If you're gonna do a Greek Mythology book, get the right mythology. Hercules is Roman, NOT Greek.

If I had a child that was too young for Percy Jackson this might be the book for them. However as an avid Percy Jackson fan who can read those books and love it even at 22 this book is way too juvenile to the point where I couldn’t really start it. The first two chapters were pretty rushed, whilst Percy Jackson’s opening it didn’t feel rushed it felt nicely paced. The character seems to want to have Percy Jackson’s humor but falls very short. Honestly I feel like the writing not only is it juvenile but I really doubt anyone would like it? Reminds of something I could write at fifteen as a fan fiction self insert Percy Jackson.

I'm not gonna waste much more energy on this trainwreck of a book.

The characters in this book are all horrible in their own way. Logan is a massive jerk through the entire book. So self centered, hypocritical and just flat out dumb as hell. Harper is so unforgettable, I'm not even joking when I say I forgot her name half the time. Daniel is just a big coward with really nothing to offer except some bad mythological facts and dumb facial expressions.

Can't wait to never have to think about Logan and his hero complex ever again, as I highly doubt there will ever be a sequel published. One star is being generous, as this book didn't offer anything creative and original. Sure it's not copied word for word, but every new thing it tried to do just fell flat.

I would much rather have read about them singing in the rain like Mary Poppins.

DNF. I gave it a one star for the short chapter. I read to page 142 and was still no interested. Writting was bland, charecters were bland, plot was bland, there was one specific scene where they were getting attacked by monsters and then all of a sudden they’re “feeling the love.” And hugging. While the monsters are still running amok. The grammar needed work. Overall i think there needed to be another edit of the whole book.

It was too haphazard. Felt like a copy of PJO. Nothing feels thought out. All and everything packed in one book. There seem to be some interesting titles by this author but I just can't get myself to read them.

Sadly, this book didn't live up to the expectations I'd had considering it was based on Greek mythology, something I love greatly. I just happened to find this book while browsing on my Kindle and in retrospect, can see why there haven't been any sequel books released. I do hope that the author has found success in other avenues because it's rather apparent that what Rick Riordan did to the world in terms of Greek mythology with Percy Jackson cannot be replicated without seeming like a copy.

I feel like the author tried to make the book very adventurous and ended up fitting so many things into one short book. The scenes and characters were hence not very fleshed out and were extremely forgettable. Every resemblance to Percy Jackson was rather obvious but since it couldn't deliver in terms of characters and plot, it ended up being rather disappointing.

I thought this book was pretty good overall. It was a little hard to get into, but once you get into the story you can’t put it down. Their are several twists, but I half expected most of them. If you enjoyed Percy Jackson this is right down your ally. The main character, Logan, reminds me of Percy in several ways. He’s thrown into a Greek Mythology filled world , his best friend, Daniel, knows a ton about Greek Mythology, and his other best friend, Harper, is smart, witty, and intelligent. Overall this book is pretty good and I would recommend to any Percy Jackson fans.

The Curse of Hera by P. J. Hoover (released 2018) is extremely similar to Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan (released 2005). This is for many reasons. The first is that the main plot is about a boy named Logan spending his summer at a place called Camp Hercules, and in Percy Jackson it is Percy going to Camp Half-Blood. The second reason is that at Camp Hercules there is a rule where there are twelve bunks, much like the twelve cabins at CHB, which have to act out one of Hercules’ labors, much like the quests in Percy Jackson. I could go on forever, but this is a rip-off PJO and is just like the book version of the Percy Jackson movies from the fandom’s perspective. If you want a good book like this description, with lots of Greek Mythology facts, humour and a heartwarming meaning behind it, DO NOT READ THIS, read Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan.

I have no words. First, the freaking TITLE is incorrect ; its supposed to be greek, so Heracles, but they’ve went along with the roman version, Hercules. Also, the entire NOVEL is a PJO ripoff, it seems like the author was trying to make a watt-pad fanfic in an AU, but ended up publishing it instead. The characters were deprived of what they could have been, Logan in particular was extremely whiny and self centered, and apparently was trying to imitate Percy’s sass, hilarity and relatability. All in all, to any greek mythology fans who want something funny with a good plot, read Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Its great, balanced and interesting as well as having multiple contributing characters and other spinoffs, each as great as the original series. Also, DO NOT make the dire mistake of watching the movies, they removed everything that made the series good. Daughter of Athena out.

I’ve been a Percy Jackson fan for years now, and this is clearly a rip-off of it.
Also, if P.J. “first fell in love with Greek mythology in sixth grade,” then she would now that since it is a GREEK camp, then it would be called Camp Heracles, as Hercules is the Roman form of the god.
If I could I would rate it even lower, as 1 star is generous.
