Klassiker neu bebildert, neu GEFÜHLT. Ohne je Rilkefan gewesen zu sein, bin ich für ein paar Seiten Der Panther gewesen. Seufz.

Rainer Maria Rilke erzählt in seinem wohl bekanntesten Werk, das um 1901 entstand, von einem eingesperrten Panther, den er im Jardin des Plantes in Paris gesehen hat. Er verleiht dem anmutigen Tier mit seinem Gedicht eine Stimme und versetzt den Leser in die Gefühlswelt der gefangenen Raubkatze: Als sähe man dem Panther mitten ins Herz. Das Gedicht gilt als das berühmteste Dinggedicht überhaupt und ist ein literarischer Genuss für Jung und Alt!

anything else. It seems to him there are
a thousand bars; and behind the bars, no world.
As he paces in cramped circles, over and over.
the movement of his powerful soft strides
is like a ritual dance around a center
in which a mighty will stands paralyzed.
Only attimes, the curtain of the pupils
lifts, quietly -. An image enters in,
rushes down through the tensed, arrested muscles,
plunges into the heart and is gone.

Mit der Reihe "Poesie für Kinder" bringt der Kindermann Verlag großformatige Bilderbücher heraus, in denen jeweils ein bekanntes deutsches Gedicht aufwendig illustriert und in Szene gesetzt ist. Einerseits eine wunderbare Idee, um für kleine Leser Lyrik anschaulich und zugänglich zu machen. Anderseits kann man sich auch als Erwachsene sehr an dieser Leseerfahrung erfreuen.
Über diesen Band habe ich die Reihe entdeckt, und der Panther ist für mich zu Recht eines der bekanntesten deutschen Gedichte überhaupt. Es zeigt schon für sich allein wie viel Eleganz und Tiefe man mit wenigen Zeilen ausdrücken kann. Künstlerin Julia Nüsch meistert jetzt die Aufgabe, Rilkes berühmte Zeilen zu bebildern. Ihr Panther ist so müde, so erhaben und gleichzeitig bemitleidenswert, das er perfekt die Zeilen ergänzt.

I know this is not a whole 'book' in no way ever. But I just wanted to record somewhere which works of Rilke I have read. Someone suggested this poem to me. The three stars are not because I didn't like the poem - it's because I couldn't find the exact translation/interpretation of the last stanza in English. Hopefully, I will find it.
