A two star rating is perhaps unfair for this novella. For the most part I got what I expected after reading the preview and seeing the page count. It just feels wrong to rate this any higher when the story is so forgettable. It’s a reverse harem where the h is the Queen of England and it still managed to be both tame and kind of boring.
At the age of 25, Amara suddenly finds herself on the throne after her mother abdicates due to health issues. She’s told at the beginning of the story that in order to be officially crowned she must get married. Amara is determined to ignore that law, but she’s a little worried that her ambitious cousin will make an issue of it.
Amara meets a rather formal foreign prince and decides immediately that he might make a decent husband. She’s not sure she can give up her childhood crush though. His father was a gardener so he’s not someone she sees herself marrying, but that doesn’t stop her from sleeping with him when he sneaks into her room at night. As if Amara didn’t have enough trouble on her plate, her childhood nemesis shows up at court. These two constantly bicker, and she thinks he’s in league with her cousin. What’s a Queen to do with all these hot guys after her? And what trouble is her cousin going to stir up?
Amara isn’t a bad character. She’s feisty, determined, and self-assured, but she can still be vulnerable at times. The guys aren't that interesting. Albert, the prince, is a stick in the mud at first who does loosen up. There’s a suggestion that maybe he was just acting reserved to entice Amara. He almost seems a little mercenary since his motivations are a mystery. Carter is presented as sweet and devoted, but there’s nothing else to him. Vincent is the stereotypical boy who teases a girl because he doesn’t want to admit he likes her. I know nothing else about his character.
There is zero romance. Within minutes of meeting Albert, Amara decides she wants to make him fall in love with her. We see them go on two dates and that’s it. Amara at least has history with Carter and Vincent. Carter comes across as nothing more than a booty call though, and it’s amazing how quickly Amara goes from hating Vincent to having sex with him. The sex scenes are very tame, one guy at a time (and one scene per guy) for anyone who is particular about that kind of thing.
The storyline involving the cousin is dumb and kind of pointless
I didn’t expect much from this, but in stories this short I really want there to be one thing that’s done well whether it’s the plot, the characters, the romance, or the sex scenes. I understand there aren’t enough pages to fit in everything, but if you impress me in one aspect I’m more likely to want to read more. There’s nothing wrong with this, there’s just nothing much to it at all.

If you are looking for a sweet royal reverse harem romance novel then look no further then this. Amara is gearing up for her coronation at least she will be unless he cousin gets in the way or the supposed law of being married. While trying to still be happy she starts looking only to find more then just one man. Can she really find a way to have the men she needs while still serving as the best queen she can be? It was just great to find the answer to this amongst the royal politics. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Kneel For Me By Laura Greenwood is a contemporary royal reverse harem that I listened to on audio narrated by Nicole Blessing. The book is a standalone novella in the ME Series.
All I can say is wow!!! I just love Laura’s books! She always leaves me wanting more. I cannot wait to dive into Heard from Me!
Nicole did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future. I liked that she used a different voice/tone for the male characters to make it easier to follow along with the story. There were a few spots throughout the story that she repeated a sentence or phrase but not enough to distract from the story.

This is actually set in a sort of British-ish universe, but with alternative characters. Amara, the soon to be Queen, suddenly finds she has more opposition than she had imagined. One of the things that appears to be in her way is the sudden announcement that she will never be queen until she marries. However, which suitor will she choose…?
Much delight is inside this, not enough steaminess as I had hoped, but it was definitely a fun read. My main criticism, however, was that the author chose to use the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, complete with speeches and actions, which was long and dragging. I felt it had very little place inside this book. I liked the idea of it, but chunks really needed to be cut. Of course, monarchy likes their dated pomp, which the public enjoys, too, but in a book, it doesn’t fit so well.
Anyway, despite my criticisms, it was a fun read, which I mostly enjoyed.
This is a contemporary RH. Amara wasn’t ready to be Queen yet, but when her mother turns ill, she steps up to the plate with the grace and determination fitting on a good queen. She learns she must marry to take the throne. Enter Carter, the gardeners son whom she’s secretly in love with. Albert the handsome prince she will win over and then Vincent, the childhood nemesis. Great, short read. I recommend this for sure.
This series has continued to be so much fun! I really love the quick but great story. It allows you to finish reading a book during your lunch break. Laura is so amazing at giving you a full but short book. Vincent was my favorite out of this book. I loved his sneaky character. Can’t wait to read the next one.
Amara is effectively Queen of the U.K. Her mother absconded due to illness. Her advisor then reminds her of a tricky little obscure but important rule: she cannot be coronated unless she is married.
With no immediate candidates and a scheming cousin threatening to steal the crown, Amara finds herself in need of a husband. Conveniently, three men enter/reenter her life. Carter, her childhood friend and teenage sweetheart. Prince Albert of Belgium, whom she likes more and more as she gets to know him. Finally, Vincent, her childhood nemesis and landed gentry who sits in the House of Lords.
This story is nicely written. I would rate it 3.5 stars if possible.
*Spoiler Alert* I felt very sorry for Carter, who probably would have wanted Amara for himself, but was selfless because of his love for her. I cannot say the same for Amara. I felt she was weak and indecisive. Carter was educated, and as the gardener's son, marrying him would have endeared her to her people. Yet she used the excuse of his background for not marrying him, instead ensnaring three men into a lifetime of lies, since they all understood the relationships needed to remain private. It didn't add up, and I lost all sympathy for Amara.

This was a quick read. A fresh spin on the Royal needs a spouse storyline. This Queen NEEDS a husband but she also WANTS 3 guys. Royal Reverse Harem anyone...
This is a very quick yet highly entertaining heart racing adventure filled with exciting charters, witty banter, emotional twists and unshakable passion...... was a edge of your seat read from beginning to end. I really enjoyed this journey!
Amara has always known that she would be the Queen, one day. She never expected that she would have to take over at her young age but when her mother's health deteriorates Amara is called into duty and she does so with grace. However, when the court advisor tells her that she must marry to keep her crown and her conniving cousin arrives at court with a fiancé Amara's life becomes even more pressured. She's never had time for official boyfriends although she did have a secret crush on the gardener's son Carter. At her first royal engagement serving as Queen, she meets a foreign prince, Albert and decides that although reserved he would make a good partner. When he won't drop the formality of their roles, Amara becomes determined to win him over. Then her childhood nemesis Vincent shows up making Amara suspicious of his motives and wonder what is really going on between them. Amara might be confused but the men seem to know exactly what they want and exactly what she needs. She is the Queen; shouldn't she be able to claim what she wants!
Kneel For Me is a contemporary royal RH. Amara is a lovely main character. She's intelligent, poised, commanding, and regal. She's also a woman. She's placed in a difficult position and then given impossible choices. Three men who each bring something different, something vital to her life. Three sexy men. Carter is her childhood sweetheart. They have a shared history, childhood adventures and later teenage first love. Albert has the royal pedigree. He fulfills the role expected as her consort, demanded by her position. They are well-suited professionally and personally. He's hard-working but when he becomes comfortable he's quite entertaining. And his hidden side is very intriguing. Vincent is more of an enigma with his covert network. What appears to be animosity is frustrated sexual tension. These two may always clash but the energy they produce together can't be denied.
This is an enjoyable quick read. Palace intrigue and royal romance. What more could you want! More, more, more. Always more!
Amara is about to be queen except there is pressure to be married first. She only ever wants to marry for love. After her mother had to abdicate due to her failing health Amara has become even more in the limelight. Enough so that people from her past as well as world royalty are surrounding her. Too bad her cousin is trying to steal her crown.
Vincent appeared as her nemisis but the opposite of love isn't hate it's indifference- neither of which possess.
Prince Albert- is a visiting Belgium prince who is letting formality slip so they can get closer.
Carter is her childhood friend, teen sweetheart and someone she's missed since he left for University- but he's back to reunite- especially as her first love and first partner. Sadly his station in life doesn't allow her to publically out their relationship.
What women doesn't want three successful, gorgeous men that want to please, support and give all that they can to just you? The pleasure alone in this story makes it very appealing. Though I do wonder if it's just one partner nights or if her other partners watch or if there's a hetero menage happening at times.
This story blends a little of royal protocol with a blend of what and English queen could battle. Using Albert and Margaret as characters reminded me of a spin on residing royalty.
Amara is a strong women owning her sexuality. Lucky lady gets three.
I am curious how the portion of having kids works. Will she have to out that her relationships with Vincent and Carter- aren't really affairs and that resulted in illegitimate children comes out publicly. It's easy to explain to their kids but not so much outside that. Or maybe she'll keep it under wraps until after her death except of course to her children themselves.
Three guys to help raise kids- that would be a great village to help.
My first book by this author and I really enjoyed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a really short book, which I didn't expect. It reminds me a bit of Serena Akeroyd's Kingdom of Veronia series. But what lets this book down is the writing. It's straightforward and simple. Everything is told to the reader rather than letting the reader discover and feel it for themselves: Amara does this and Amara does that. Amara feels this and Amara feels that. This results in little depth of emotion.
It seemed a little hard to believe that Amara, the crown princess who is days away from being coronated as queen, could be having an affair with the gardener's son without any of the palace staff finding out about it. It also seemed preposterous that she believed she could "make us fall in love" -- i.e. make Albert fall in love with her, and also make herself fall in love with him. And the idea of her school bully actually liking her all the while is so cliché that it made me want to roll my eyes. If he had been taunting her outwardly but secretly did some nice things for her, at least that would be something. Then again, he's called the "bully" but there are never any details about what he did to her when they were children. He's also so insolent and disrespectful when he meets her, that it seems entirely the wrong way to go about getting into her affections. You'd think he'd want to show that he has changed and that he really does care, but nooooo.
The writing feels mechanical, like ticking things off a checklist; and the sex felt like it was there for the sake of being there. I didn't get a feel of the personality of any of the men; they could have been robots or puppets for all I knew. Then again, Amara doesn't have much personality, either. She's told about this law that says she has to marry, but doesn't make any move to verify for herself that the law actually exists. Doesn't really give me the feeling that she'd be a good queen.
I feel really 'meh' about this story. Wish there was more meat to it.
Amara is the Queen in waiting since her mothers abdication due to ill health. She loves her kingdom and her people and is waiting for arrangements to be made for her coronation. When one of her advisors informs her that their is a law that states she must be married before she can take the crown she feels like she’s been thrown back into the dark ages. She is reacquainted with her lover from her teenage years Carter, who often climbs into her quarters at night. Although now an accountant, Carter is the son of the gardener and as such would never be accepted. Amara not only doesn’t want to get married, she doesn’t want to give up Carter. When her cousin arrives with a fiancé in tow, for one of the arranged balls to find Amara a suitor, it becomes clear that she has her eye on the throne. Amara meets Albert, a Belgian prince and although she wants to get to know him better, she still doesn’t see why she should have to get married. Amara introduces Albert to Carter and much to her delight, the men reach an understanding. Amara’s playground nemesis Vincent always seems to be around and Amara suspects that he is working with her cousin. In fact Vincent is trying to catch Amara’s eye and when he and Albert and Carter reach an understanding, they all work together to see their princess become a Queen. This is a well written and enjoyable reverse harem story with an interesting plot and interesting characters. Loved it :-)

I really enjoyed this story by Laura Greenwood (I could have seen this being a whole series actually but totally understand Laura has so many amazing ideas they cant all be trilogies haha). I thought Laura did a great job on including the political and strict nature/behind the scenes of being a royal in this novella/short story. I liked Carter and Albert the best I think because we got to see the most time with them and totally loved how funny and surprisingly kinky Albert was hahaha. I loved the way the group got Margaret to stop stirring up trouble haha, taste of her own medicine. I couldn't help but squeal and giggle with the epilogue, love HEAs ❤️
Audiobook: For the narration, I was kinda on the fence to be honest. I think it got better as the story went on, but the beginning was pretty rough for me. I had an issue with Nicole being monotone and her the lack of inflections. I think in the middle, she let loose for a couple chapters and it was great, but then went back to more of a monotone/no emotions or change in expressions. I would have given a higher rating if she had been consistent the whole way through (I was closer to giving a 2 stars but couldn't do it). I did enjoy this story and the narration took away from it sometimes, but not enough to make me stop listening.
Kneel For Me is the story of Amara and Carter, Prince Albert and Vincent. Amara is about to become Queen only there is one little obstacle in the way as she has to get married first or her conniving cousin will get the crown. So Amara has to figure out quickly who she can marry and who will be presentable. Prince Albert is from Belgium and as she gets to know him she develops more and more feelings for him. Because he has grown up as royalty he already knows what is expected of him as her Royal Consort and can fulfill this position with perfection. Carter is her first love and childhood friend but he is the gardener's son, although he is educated. Carter would be her love match plus a marriage to him would ensure the people are on her side. Vincent is a Lord and was her childhood rival. He is secretive and it was hard to get to understand him. They have a lot of tension between them which turns out is more sexual than anything when they clash. Amara has a big decision or does she? I enjoyed this RH but I found there were a few things that did not work fully for me. But once I ignored those the rest of the story was interesting and more than a little Kindle smoking goodness.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Amara I'm to be queen when my I'll mother abdicated or am I some one has just said it I'm to take the crown I must wed there's something fishy about this. But I will try to do my duty until something is worked out then my childhood love Carter come back but he isn't suitable for the crown there's Prince Albert of Belgium he's a little stiff but sweet. And why has Vincent suddenly decide to interfer in my life we faught like cats and dogs when we were younger and now I just want to strangle him but then he's kissing me and telling me to trust him he can fix everything and now my cousin has shown up it's never good when she's around the little sneak. What's a future queen to do when all these lovely men want her will she give into her desires and whom is plotting to take her crown she can only choose one or can she have more. I wanted to give this book 3 1/2 stars it reads well know errors it's just kind of ordinary and tame for a reverse harem book. Also the men in her life were one damintial Vincent had promise then he fizzled out not very edgy.
I was allowed to receive and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I absolutely LOVED this story! Kneel for Me tells the tale of Amara, a Princess about to be crowned Queen, who fights tooth and nail against the bigotry that is the law of marriage before she can ascend the throne. But when evil befalls her Kingdom she does everything she can to protect her people, even if it means fighting in the war herself.
Laura Greenwood has managed to capture four very complex characters into one spellbinding tale in a very easily readable way. With super sweet moments, to action packed scenes, and everything in between, this tale is a surefire way to get the little Princess in us all wanting to find our own Three Princes. A great RH telling of a fight in Royalty. 10/10 would recommend!
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author for review consideration**
Amara is the upcoming Queen, but she will be forced to give up the throne if she cannot find a husband. She must be married, or the law states she cannot become the ruler. Things are complicated for her because her cousin wants to be Queen herself and is making sure Amara cannot claim her rightful throne.
Not willing to give up on her destiny, the feisty Amara sets her sights instead on a foreign prince. But once again things are complicated when both her childhood sweetheart and her schoolyard enemy show up!
This is probably not like any other reverse harem story you have read, so don’t pass this one up! The story line flows well and the humor is perfect! The characters are developed well, with Carter easily being my favorite! But the important question remains: Will Amara be able to win her prince and keep her rightful crown, or will her cousin take everything away from her?
One understands that a lot goes on behind the scenes with monarchy but there's invariably a butler or a member of staff, the press or a photographer ready to dish up the dirt. Seemingly these characters were not under scrutiny which is most certainly not normally the case. Nevertheless this was a unique take on an about to be queen & her 3 consensual lovers & not only did I enjoy this story but it was flawlessly written, had intrigue, anxiety, & potential danger but the underlying strong current was the fact that one was fit to be king, one was a long time lover & another was an irritating friend but they all worshipped her, they had mindblowing sex but were happy to share. Don't we all want lots of hot as hell lovers? Likely? No! but still intriguing as hell.
I live a good royal romance and Amara was waiting for her official coronation as Queen. What I enjoyed about the story was the royal atmosphere being set in the dialogue and various settings. It was also adhered to in terms of who was suitable spouse material for the would be queen.
This was actually the first reverse harem book I have read and I was pleasantly surprised with the way the men had their focus on Amara’s happiness and therefore were receptive of each other as her men. It was endearing that she would be the one to show the spark of jealousy in certain situations, but the men had none toward each other.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really like this novella. It's a contemporary, medium-burn reverse harem romance. There is a little bit of steam, a lot of fun, and just a smidge of suspense. I especially appreciated the author's note before the story begins, where she says this story is going to be like a cheesy royalty movie. Since I have only watched a couple of those, I think this is a success.
Amara's story reminds me of the "Princess Diaries 2" movie, but sadly, there's no Julie Andrews. This is like if Mia had been more romantic with her fiance, a male best friend, and Chris Pine, and then got to keep them!
I would love it if this book was longer, so I could read about Amara falling in love with Vincent, while he proved his love for her.
Almost queen, Amara has never had time for romance - until she has to find a husband or forfeit the throne. With limited time on her hands and a cousin eager to usurp her, Amara sets her sights on a foreign prince. Things get complicated quickly as her childhood sweetheart and her schoolyard enemy are on hand to confuse just about everything.
Can she win the hand of the prince and keep her crown?
I enjoyed this book. I do want to say that it is a reverse harem book, so if that isn't what you like please don't try it an then give the author low scores because you don't like the subject matter.
Nicole Blessing does a great job on this book as always!
Amara has three men to choose from and she likes them all. How can she choose one as her husband? Amara has been told she has to marry before she can be coronated as queen. But the person she loves the most is Carter her childhood, the gardeners son, and he’s back after being away at university for seven years. Then she takes an interest in a visiting prince named Albert. She likes him and the country would accept him as a suitable husband for her. But how can she give up Carter? And she has to be careful because her spiteful cousin Margaret is gunning for the throne and wants to be queen. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Laura Greenwood, Once again you have a Winner with Book 2 from your ME Series "Kneel for Me." I enjoyed the New Queen had a choice with Suitors and she had opportunity chose who she wanted. Although, there's always 'A Hater' in the group who wants to Rain On Your Parade, but she stood STRONG and followed her ❤.
The narrator Nicole Blessing did a wonderful job as the New Queen but I would have liked to have heard more variation amongst the men character's.
I still recommend this novel to others. Now it's time for Book 3, "Heard From Me."
Four and a half stars. This is a great story about Amara who is the Queen-to-be and her men. There is a law that she must be married to become the queen and her cousin wants the crown for herself and has set herself up to keep Amara from the throne. Of course, Amara is not going to sit back and wait for that to happen. It’s an unusual story and how she acquires her “harem” is different from the typical. This is well worth reading if for no other reason - it is original.
