A fun, informative way to celebrate preschool with your little one. My preschool class liked this book a lot and I enjoyed reading it to them. The poetry doesn’t get monotonous like so many other rhyming kids’ books; it has variety and enough cleverness to stay fresh and fun. And the illustrations are colorful and have good personality.

This book was originally published in picture book format, which is suitable to the length of its text; converting it into a board book is questionable, as most of that intended audience won’t be able to sit for the long poems. This reviewer also found it odd that the first poem talks about Mommy staying at preschool (though the child eventually sends her home), which will set up unrealistic expectations for children who are just starting preschool. The rhyming text covers typical preschool activities, with one poem for each, including daily activities like playtime, and seasonal activities like watching caterpillars transform into butterflies in the spring. Many diverse characters are portrayed in the colorful and engaging digital illustrations. The writing is playful and the rhymes are simple, making for a nice read aloud for children ages 3-5.

Childrens picture book. This bright colorful rhyming text is sure to ease the worries of young ones about to start preschool. The routines of preschool are introduced in a narrative--rules, handwashing, outdoor time, art time, science time. The book cleverly goes through the year-- pumpkins, snowmen, butterflies, graduation-- without skipping a beat.

Here's a sample of this lovely verse:
We pile up the pumpkins.
Some are little, some are plumpish.
Some are big and some are skinny.
Some are smooth and some are lumpish.
To finish off our pumpkin fun, we set out orange dishes
and serve up pumpkin cupcakes, which are pumpkiny-delicious!

Recommended especially for preschool classrooms and families of preschoolers.

My son starts preschool THIS WEEK and this is his current favorite book about the topic. It's a collection of short poems about preschool, accompanied by adorable and lively illustrations. He requests it almost every night at bedtime, and while it is a bit long for reading out loud (every night!), he is starting to recite it along with me, which is super cute.

The different pages are different poems on various preschool topics, like painting and washing hands. kind of reminded me of shell Silverstein. these would be good poems to read to preschoolers, minus the punching bag. one. That kind of thing really isn't recommended anymore because it actually makes kids even angrier.

This one’s a guide for children starting preschool, covering everything from saying goodbye to parents to learning how to follow rules and make new friends. Preschool, Here I Come! is designed to help children feel confident and excited about starting school.

This was a little long for a board book. I loved all the rhymes and the intro to preschooling but this should have been a regular picture book. I'd still give it a read at a storytime in August.

Will definitely read before Peter goes to preschool one day (if preschools are a thing ever again).

I didn’t realize that this is a book of poetry! It’s very cute but I don’t think this would have kept her interest. I ultimately didn’t share it with her, but she might enjoy it in a year or two.

This is THE best preschool book. Amazing for kids going into preschool, and also littles still in preschool. ❤️

This straightforward introduction to preschool covers many of the experiences children can expect. I liked that it helps make preschool feel familiar and manageable. It is a useful choice for children who are getting ready for this new stage.

I can see this being useful to prepare for preschool, though I felt like it could have been edited down as 32 pages is a bit long.
