Wedding planner Paige Porter doesn't believe in fairy tales. She's seen too many bridezillas, randy grooms, and short-lived marriages. But would-be fairy godmother Beatrice Maitland has other ideas. Her grandson Siegfried is one of the city's most eligible bachelors—if anyone could drag him away from his computer lab.
As CEO of The Maitland Company and the latest in a family of inventors, Siegfried might forget to eat or sleep, but he can't forget Paige Porter. He might even have to put aside his all-consuming research for a new Project Paige.
Because when he saw her he It Had to Be You.

"I like to think of my stories as adventures," Simmons says. Most take place in Regency or Medieval England, such as her popular series on the thirteen century de Burgh family. But no matter what the setting, you'll find interesting characters, romance, humor, and mystery.
- easy read but pretty mediocre - could've been half as long if you took out all the repetition (SHE'S NOT "SUPERMODEL PRETTY" WE GET IT!!!) - the ending was just......lmao - every single character had max 2 personality traits - Siegfried......there was so much POTENTIAL - really appreciated the casual racism i.e. the sassy black assistant named LaTasha, the Asian nerd who can't speak English named Takeo - no plot - honestly now that I'm reviewing this I want to give it 1 star - but I guess I didn't HATE it - so 2 stars
The best indicator of a great story, for me anyhow, is how late do I stay up reading....well I'm running off three hours today because I was so close to the end I couldn't put it down. This book made me smile often, I loved the more modern fairy tale day story telling. Marching to the best of my own drum so to speak, I loved that the geeky guy got the girl. I would love to see more books like this by Deborah Simmons!
Just enough situational craziness to make the story a intriguing read.. The wedding planner has a unfulfilled attraction but staying professional she thinks its just temporary. There is shenanigans going on that are discovered. To my delight the ending is fairytale perfect.
I don't often write reviews of books but I really enjoyed this book. Although some of it was predictable, I thoroughly enjoyed all the individual madcap family members and seeing how they would all make an impression on the lovely Paige. I also fell in love with Siegfried, almost as much as Paige did. He was a social misfit but his transformation was sweet and just perfectly written. I would love to see more of this crazy family
2.5 stars. This had a lot of potential. My biggest issue with this book was there wasn't really a relationship between the hero and the heroine. Everything went through the family. While the family was endearing, it made it hard for me to really get into the book as a whole...I found myself skimming pages to get to Siegfried and Paige's interactions, which were few and far between. I wish there had been more from Siegfried's perspective...Paige was just meh for me. Kind of disappointing.
This book was hard to rate. I really liked the idea and, though the ending was very quick, I still liked it.
I think Siegfried was too odd at times. He was someone you just couldn't imagine or identify with. The rest of the family too were really odd. It sort of detracted from the story a bit. It's the reason why such a short book has taken so long to read.
I started to enjoy the story more when Siegfried seemed to wake up and become a bit more human. I did feel some of the story could have been fleshed out a little more though, like the takeover bid and Mia starting work. That's why I've settled on 3 stars.
