Ace and Vincent return to earth after training under Grom.
They bring with them training techniques and new allies. Earth begins to undergo a transformation that changes everything. After being taught by Grom, Ace and Vincent have learned that they aren't alone in the universe. In its current state, humanity is weak. They might be enslaved, or worse.
How will humanity survive after entering the stage of the universe? Who will lead them? Will they survive?
This novel is Volume 3 of the Desire: A LitRPG Adventure series.
I'm not sure if the books have been translated from another language or if the writer is young in his career but the books come across a little amature'ish. I try to visualise characters and they seemed a bit grey and forced. The time line jumps forward too much and whole years pass in some instances which are a bit jarring and disconnect me from this world. The main characters are slightly overpowered leaving no room for tense drama. But the story was great the universe and plot line shows a great imagination by the author, even though they are really early in their career I still felt invested in the books and looked forward to what happened next. There's lots of potential in this story and hope there's more to come.
Like the previous books the magic system is great but the characters and the story - not so much. Ace and Vincent go off world to explore the universe and get stronger. The spend the first half of the book acting as mercenaries and getting stronger and the second half of the book defending earth. Overall there were the same strengths and weaknesses from the previous books.
Why does Vincent have literally 0 motivation to do anything. It is very annoying to read, He is okay to just sit in the background and do nothing . he is okay being weaker and im pretty sure hes gay and in love with Ace. he used to be my favorite character now i wouldn't even notice if you took him out of the entire book.
the author forgot to develop his characters, in this book 15+ years pass and we don't know if anyone got married, have childrens or even a life outside of missions, what do we know? stuff is buyed with points, the planet is repopulated' other planets are terraformed, africa is gifted to the orc race they in exchange teach key technics and grow food stuff that feed the world from then onward, vincent is forgotten he is there.. but all we learn in the entire book is that he learned a new technique after hoarding money for 10 years and that it! Ace? apart from he is the king of earth, goes on missions' starts really interesting, then it's just... I rather keep the missions going for the rest of the book at least they could have been more interesting rather than what actually happens..
I really enjoyed this book and series. Unfortunately, this book ended in a way that felt like there was much more for the main characters to do. I normally wouldn't consider that a bad thing, at least as long as more books were going to come. In this case however, all three books were published in the same year, and it has been two years since they were published. I am very doubtful that the author will continue the series after noticing that. Still, the books didn't have the worst possible ending for a series. It just left a number of loose ends and great amounts of possible growth for the main characters. I would recommend the series though. It looks like Cameron Milan decided to start a new series the year after this series was released and gave up on this. Then he started a new series the year after and gave up on the previous new series with only two books. I wish this author would not get bored with a series so easily.
If I could give 2.5 than I would as it is 3 will do. The story pacing is all over the place in book 3. First you have action and training then out of nowhere two new villains a significant time skip. More battles after that and... it’s over? I completely understand if the author has a writing block or trouble completing the story but he should of taken more time if that was the case. The entire book seems half finished and I’m probably going to pass on book 4 unless it’s also on Kindle Unlimited.
I still like the story and the authors ideas but I really feel like the next book will require a Great deal of revisions before it should be released.
This is all the Earth turn into a Game rpg/cultivating place. We find out we are not alone and way behind the rest of the universe. Best friends one a Good guy Hero the other like a Dexter type, work hard to be the most powerful beings to protect their friends and families. Cultivating to stargates and spaceships are in this series. First quarter of book one is slow and the last quarter of book three is rushed and should not exist if more books are planned.
I’m looking forward to the next book I can see how ideas developed here carry into other series by the author. I am enjoying the quick reads and how the story develops and we are seeing epic battles but still and low kid tier levels and understanding. A little disappointing it is always Ace being the ultimate weapon especially when you would think Vincent is stronger but that doesn’t add or detract from the story just a path for the story
Just got done with reading the desire series to date and I have to say the story is very good, I really like the way it mixes litrpg, sci-fi, and eastern fantasy. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that while the story is awesome the writing could use some work, but saying that I still can't wait to read the next book
Like the premise of the series. The 3rd book did feel pretty forced/rushed though. The characters weren't developed (50 years - you would expect some details on how things have changed with the people! ). I also felt the introduction of the AI threat so focused on only earth was a bit of a stretch.
This book was very poorly structured, with no discernible, consistent story arc. It starts out with one antagonist and, mid way through, shifts over to a completely different antagonist, with no rhyme nor reason connecting the two.
Overall, it felt far more rushed than the previous two installments. Not sure if this is the end of the series, but it’s the end of the series for me.
ok this is wide open for at least a dozen new books please dont keep us in suspense too long, i dont mind if you need ot make it a series of 3 book arcs i mean that ending was like mass effect 3 (before and after the patch... ok maybe i'm toom much of a nerd and you dont know what i mean)
First half was good, but then it just kinda...wandered to a close. It feels like there needs to be a real resolution, or more continuation in the setting, even if with different characters. Still a decent read, but just...kinda stopped.
Great addition. Reading this series is like reading through the growth of an author. Cameron's skills steadily progress through out the series and this is the best yet - looking forward to more!
A weird turn in direction but a good one. Ace is the man and everyone knows it. But on Earth, everywhere else there are dangers and higher beings. I hope more are to come as this is an excellent concept and has great characters.
This series is good but I just wish they didn’t time jump and gain their powers so quickly. Still a big fan of this author and look forward to his next book.
