I’ve never known what it’s like to have a dream that’s really mine. To live a life without fear. Being the niece of the most ruthless mob boss in Las Vegas has made any sort of freedom impossible. Francesca Rossi has spent much of her life balancing the weight of running the family bakery with avoiding her uncle’s life of violence and corruption. When Maddox Black forces his way into her life, sure of himself and of her, he’ll force her to see that there’s more to life than fear. But when fear becomes reality, Maddox and Francesca will have to decide if their dreams are worth fighting for. This is the story of Francesca and Maddox, the second installment in the Ride Series Second Generation. Maddox can be read as a stand-alone, but it's recommended that you read the First Generation Ride series. * Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I liked the story just wish the ow drama wasn't involved. For the safety readers, he slept with club girl once a year ago and regretted it. However that girl causes the ow drama. Maddox stands up to her and won't let her disrespect the h. H slept with others in past, h has one past sexual encounter. No cheating, he clearly loves the h. ( I also think she forgave to quickly about his lie.) Can't wait for the next one.

This book was the best birthday gift to myself! Started it really early, had my celebrations in between with family and then resumed late in the afternoon reading again 😍 Loved Maddox and Francesca’s story. Maddox goes to Vegas to see the niece of the man who is trying to take over their territory in their small town but when he meets Francesca for the first time, he is smitten❣️ Suffice to say a relationship between them could be deadly, but Maddox perseveres much like his dad did for his mom and finally gets her to Hawthorne. Absolutely loved the ending and I’m hoping Emmie and Gunner might be next 😉

I've enjoyed each of the novels in the Ride Series. This one could use a bit of editing, though. There were a few inconsistencies - one moment there is no coffee table, then it's magically there. A towel is thrown off, but the next second it's around her again. Otherwise, a good continuation of the series.

3.25-3.50 RATING - I've read all the books in this series (original generation as well) and while I've liked some more than others, I've been happy to read them all. I liked Maddox but it wasn't one of my favorites. Maybe it was the mob story line, I'm not sure. Still it was an okay read.

Looking forward to the next one.

I really am loving this series and this is the second instalment of the second generation.

Francesca is pretty much alone in the world, having lost her parents when she was ten and having nowhere to go other than to live with her hardworking grandparents, she helped them run the bakery but that was years ago she’s now alone with only an uncle connected to the mob and his slimey cohort Bruno, she knows what they do and wants no part of that world. But recently she’s losing business and barely making ends meet. Her world changes when Maddox walks through the door of her bakery. Knowing that there is tension between her uncle and the MC that Maddox is a member of they are forced to keep their relationship a secret that is until Francesca’s life is in danger. She’s lost everything and all her memories but can she trust Maddox with her life and her heart or will she lose him like everyone else she cares about?

Maddox has been looking into the Rossi family and once he learns of Francesca’s existence his curiosity gets the better of him and he’s in Vegas to scope her out but once he walks through the bakery door he’s confronted with the woman who is going to be his future. Knowing his family aren’t going to like this union they keep it a secret until his family and his woman are in danger, she’s in his life and there is no way he will let her go! But will she stay when she learns he’s keeping secrets?

Great short read and loved catching up on the other characters in the series. Can’t wait for the next one! Hoping it’s Gunner and Emmie though.

Francesca Rossi has been doing her best to keep her families bakery afloat, but everyone she has been close with has died and with her mob boss uncle always lurking she is worried that her bakery will be the next thing he destroys. When Maddox Black comes in for a cup of coffee everything changes. Maddox expresses his interest in Francesca and asks her to give them a chance. She is willing to but it has to be on her terms, she is intent on keeping what they are building hidden and Maddox safe. Maddox knows what she is dealing with though and he and his club will protect her no matter what, will it be too late though?

Another fantastic read from Megan O'Brien. Maddox was different then what I expected he is a bit more of a mystery that slowly unfolds. Loved Francesca, she is sweet and been dealt a bad hand where her family is concerned. Page turning action packed story.

The Ride Series first generation books are favorite comfort reads of mine so it thrilled me when Ms. O’Brien started writing the second generation books. I was a little nervous about reading Maddox, because I had a bit of trouble when I read Max’s book, the first in the Next Gen series. There was a definite passing of the torch feeling I both loved and hated, especially with Cal, the old club president as his book is a personal favorite. I love we get to see him enjoying his retirement but I hate he’s retired. I liked the book, just not the thought of some of my favorites getting old.

Thankfully, I didn’t have that problem at all with this installment. Maddox and Francesca’s story was sad in places but had lots of action plus a whole load of sweetness to it. I enjoyed my time spent with the characters from the original series while I immersed myself in their children’s lives wholeheartedly.

An all grown up Maddox was impressive as hell. He’s the perfect blend of alpha and sweet, but he definitely takes no guff off anyone. He was all about protecting his girl, whether it was from her family or his club family which was darned refreshing. He did make one decision that had me waiting for Francesca to drop an anvil on his head, but I forgave him for it.

Francesca was super sweet, but she was a bit timid which I struggled with since some of her actions required a strength of character that belied this. In fact, she was a tad too sweet for me but that’s no surprise as I’m all about the badass heroines. I know most will eat her sweetness up with a spoon and love her for it.

One of the best parts of the story was seeing the both generations work together so seamlessly. This group is a family, and it shows, not only in their little squabbles, but in the fact that when something threatens them they stand together with loyalty, respect, and a whole lot of love.

This was a quick, action-packed, super sexy and sweet read I had a lot of fun reading. I can’t wait to see what comes next with this family of bikers.

I am very sorry to say that (Megan O'Brien is one of my favourite writer) but this one didn't work for me.

It's safe but absolutely nothing is original. Maddox talks like Cole, Sal, Axle, Ryker, Cal and Max, they are all the same.

The word BABY is overused.

Didn't feel the connection between the MCs.

I'm quite sure is my fault because I am fed up with bikers stories.
Can't stand them anymore.

It could have been 3 stars but the mention of that disgusting TV show on FX with the blond idiot and his bunch of bikers pigs made me cancel one star.

Love the next generation

I love reading about the next generation falling in love and finding their HEA. It was a sweet love story with a touch of heart ache, betrayal and family angst. A must read!

Maddox grew up in the Knights MC, his parents are Axel and Sophie who had a great love story of their own and now he's also a brother in the club. When he goes to Vegas to check on Francesca Rossi, he never meant to fall for her. Francesca grew up as a the niece of a mob boss, but she never wanted anything to do with him or the organization. The day that Maddox walked into her bakery she felt things she never felt before. From then on they talked everyday and he made her feel wanted. As her feelings grow for Maddox she starts listening on her uncle's conversations to help the Knights. When she ends up giving wrong info, the club is a bit mistrustful, but she comes through for them when Wren is kidnapped and helps save her. But she ends up at the hands of her uncle who wants revenge. The moment Maddox got the call he went to her but finds her beaten and stabbed. I really liked Maddox, he was passionate and fell pretty fast for Francesca and wanted to build something real with her. Francesca was OK, she was nice enough and just wanted to have a bakery and be happy. Maddox gave her everything she ever wanted in life, a big family with the club, and unconditional love from him. The club had to go up against the Vegas mob in order to protect Francesca and they ended up winning and Maddox and Francesca got their happy ending.

I loved this story.
Maddox and Francesca.
This book is second generation so it may be a good idea to read the previous book in this series plus the original generation series but there is a review of who is who as the story unfolds.
That said I have read all the previous books although not recently so i couldn't keep track of who was who.
There are a lot of family plus club members which is great as it provides a catch up and potential for future storylines.
There are no intimate details of anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Neither are virgins though the heroine is fairly inexperienced as her family are mob connected so although she has tried to remain distant from anything to do with the business it frightened a lot of men away.
The Hero has a small amount of ex drama in the form of a club girl but he doesn't come across as a manwhore type and there are no details.
There are breadcrumbs dropped for future books of different couples showing interest in each other.
I liked the small references to the mob in Vegas and I was interested in future books looking into that.
Excellent secondary characters.
HEA.

Always a five star

I can't count the amount of times I've re-read the Ride series but I'm so glad to add another one to list. I wouldn't expect anything different but I absolutely loved this book. I didnt think any of the books could beat piper and Ryker but I definitely have a new favorite. I love when the man sticks by his woman even in the hard times above all else and Maddox was an awesome H with an even stronger woman by his side. If you haven't read all of the books in this series do so now!

Maddox black,♡

OMG I love everybody from Megan O'Brien. This series is so damn good and it just began I can't wait for the next book.

Francesca how's lost everything that she loved she thought she would never find a true family and someone that she can love unconditionally. Not until Maddox Showed up in her life. He saved her and loved her. He's the type to love with his whole heart and although when he brought her home it was a rough start with his Club and family they to love Francesca. Such a great story.

Francesca and Maddox were awesome together!

I’ve been working my way through The Ride Series, and now the second generation books over the last month or two. My reason for mentioning this was that I have relished my time with each book but this one not so much. The drama when it hit was intense, but it appeared quickly and seemed to be over in no time at all. Not that I wanted the gruesome scenes to go longer, it was more that I was missing the suspense element in the drama.

Am I going to read on? You bet I am!

Another great story in the Ride series!! Mad & Francesca have instant chemistry, and their drama comes from some scary places involving her family, but it's all done well & kept me on my toes!

I loved both main characters as well as getting to catch up w/ Max & Wren & the whole Ride family. I feel like the mark of a truly good connected series is when reading one makes you want to go back & re-read all of them. This definitely fits into that category!! : )

Mad's lady

Mad and Francesca at her bakery. The attraction is immediate and intense. Francesca's days are occupied by working the bakery she interferon her grandparents.

Mad has an ulterior motive for showing up at her bakery. He didn't expect to end up falling for the sexy owner.

There are some nasty villains, including her uncle and his cohort. I enjoyed the pace of the story and it's resolution!

I'm enjoying this series!

I loved this book. I bought it when it first came out but held off on reading it for a while. Boy was that a dumb decision. I couldn’t put it down. The story was great and really made me want these characters to get a happy ending. I’m looking forward to some of the other characters to get their own book too.

Love this series

I love this series. After reading the first generation books, I was so excited for this next generation and I have not been disappointed. Maddox and Francesca’s story was a fast read. Typical insta-love and alpha tendencies from Maddox. Some crazy dangerous situation that Frannie finds herself in. And a HEA of course!

Sweet ride...

Francesca’s family is the Rossi crime family but she doesn’t have anything to do with them. I fact she is scared of them , but she helped save Wren from her horrible cousin (last book). Maddox falls for her brings her home and into the family. Great read. Love this couple.

I think every woman deserves a Maddox, the man is alpha to the core, but such a loving heart it made me tear up in places. I liked how Frannie stood up for herself, she didn’t let anything or anyone walk over her, such a strong lady, the kind I’d love to hang out with. This whole series is pure joy to read and I highly recommend it.

I almost DNF'd it (SPOILERS AHEAD)

I didn't enjoy if as much as Max, but I was willing to give it a shot and then we got to the whole creepy incestuous uncle, oops now she is pregnant bit...even worse... With twins. It just killed any chance it had. Also, what's with the super controlling men? Like what's the appeal!?

Maddox is the the perfect amount of alpha with a beautiful sweetnesses that’s super endearing. Francesca is sweet, charming and shy but the two together make a perfect couple. I enjoyed every single thrilling moment of this journey.
