The first sign of trouble was the rough, masculine voice.
The second was the Scottish accent.
God, Cecelia loved Scottish accents.
The last was the scent—his scent—familiar and uniquely Colin.
Cecelia had been through bad breakups before but none had compared to the two, yes two, that had come at Colin’s hands, because she was apparently glutton for punishment and didn’t know better and was young and stupid and in love.
Had been in love. Twice.
And she’d had her heart broken. Twice.
Well, the third time wasn’t the charm and CeCe wasn’t going to be stupid about Colin. Not again, not now that she knew better. Nope. There would be no brooding, gorgeously sexy, Scottish hero in her future.

I didn't care for this book and thought it was the worst one of the series. I just don't like it when a couple is separated for any length of time, it was six years in this instance, because of an evil relative determined to break up the couple and the Hero goes on to sleep with other women. Gives me an icky feeling that he had so little faith and trust in the woman he supposedly loved and leaves her at the altar on their wedding day without a word. He wouldn't even see her to hear her side of the story.
Really liked the first book in the series. I cannot recommend this book, however. After how upsetting it was and what a horrible hero we had I haven't read past this book and don't intend to. There is no way I could ever read this again. My first read was a year ago and the book still troubles me.
Bad Breakup is bad. Really bad. The characters does not have chemistry at all. Hence the conversation is stiff and weird. It is like Miss Faber cut and paste it from somewhere. The flow of the story need better editing.
I did not enjoy listening to the audiobook. Not at all.
This book was okay but honestly there was so much that felt missing for me. The flashbacks to the past kept frustrating me because for the most part they didn't add anything to the story or give me any insight into these characters. Which was annoying since they clearly had a very messy past that, even by the end, I felt like I knew nothing about. I'm not a fan of books that jump back and forth in the timeline anyway, but if it adds something to the book then I'm perfectly okay with it. That just wasn't the case with this one though. I just felt like certain things needed to be explored more, in both the past and the present parts.
Overall I did like both of the characters and their story was still an interesting one to read. I'm also very curious about the next story in this series so I'll be reading that one soon.
dnf@20% What can I say, some days you you feel life ticking away fast so why waste time. I'm out. h meets ex H by accident. Even though he's really hurt her, she is fantasising about his body from pretty much on meeting him. Weak much? That was irritating but as soon as I got to
Skipping this one because it’s unclear if the hero remained celibate during the separation, but most signs point to no. The heroine did stay celibate, so fuck that noise. There are reviews that are contradictory regarding the hero, so I’m not sure what exactly to believe.
Meh Third times the charm in this second third-chance romance for Colin McGregor, and Cecilia. The couple last broke up on their wedding day six years earlier due to manipulations/framing by his hateful family, and a wannabe OW. It's told in dual pov’s, and is fairly short. There’re no discussions of partners during the separation. The secondary characters are previous/future MC’s of the series, so they’re around, and maybe I would have liked it more had I been invested in series, but it also works as a standalone.
It’s well written with no grammar/format issues. Other than billionaire Colin being unable to locate Cecilia, there’s nothing OTT or unbelievable. There’s no cheating/OW/OM drama. The meddling family is a very small part of the plot, but they do get their comeuppance towards the end. The reconciliation moves along, after the original issues, so the couple aren't spending the entire book arguing. The epilogue sets up the next book.
Bottom Line- Easy read about two people that do love each other, but allowed others to interfere. Totally safe and moves along fairly quickly. It’s pretty sweet, and a smidge humorous at times; not exactly edge of your seat exciting, but it’s short enough that I didn’t have to skim.
Second chance romance. A good story. The Hero and heroine are split up by manipulative family on their wedding day and Colin refused to sort it out with her as he got so drunk, then his father died. Years have gone by.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. HEA. Breadcrumbs dropped for future books.
This was book 2 in the "Billionaire's Club" series. Cecelia who was the nanny to Hunter goes on a vacation to Finland with a stop over in London a trip that she is looking forward to. Before the plane takes off her past sit down next to her. Colin McGregor let Cecelia slip through his fingers twice thanks to his families meddling in their business but he is not going to left her go a third time. This was a good read CeCe and Colin had lot to work through they had trust issues. CeCe tries to run from Colin leaving him in London while she goes to Finland and when he shows up she gives in to him he also tells her about the things his mother and sister showed him both of them realize that his family broke them up they wanted him to marry his sisters friend. I was glad that CeCe got her happy ending. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
3.5 Stars Bad Breakup by Elise Faber is book Two in the Billionaire's Club series. This is the story of Colin and Cecelia. This can be a standalone book if you wish to do so. Colin and Cecelia Story in this book goes back and forth through their relationship showing each points of views. They also broke up a few different times and when they meet again it has been several years from their last breakup. This was a different type romance for me with this type of story line but it is always a nice change to see some struggles of the characters trying to work out a relationship. Some of the things they did / said I couldn't connect with but overall enjoyed their journey.
Let me just say that I loved the audio. Avery Caris brought Colin and Cecelia to life. She did such a good job not only on Cecilia but the voice she gave Colin was amazing (nailed that Scottish accent!). I also loved everything else about this story! Colin and Cecelia were quite the match, you could see their love for each other even through all the anger and hurt from their past. But once everything comes out and they realize everything that tore them apart in the past was lies and deception from others they rekindle their love and begin anew. This has a sweet and funny HEA.
I read the sample and thought this one would be a good read. It wasn't a bad read but wasn't doing it for me. To be honest I skimmed through a lot of it.
The author failed to explain fully the two times that the MMC broke her heart or why. The author failed to fully reveal the MMC’s cutting behavior on those said occasions. Then the author failed to have the MMC grovel enough to win the FMC back. All he did was say he was sorry and that was pretty much it.
While I did find the book pleasant, once I realized there was really no point to this story I lost interest. It was a getting to know you and falling in love book but not really a second chance kind of plotting. It failed to be about the history and more about let’s forgive and predominantly forget everything that came before. It was nice enough, but I would have preferred the history with massive groveling.
The author also tried to make the FMC seem like a strong independent women but in one scene the author actually wrote that the FMC was thinking how much she hated adulting and being a strong independent woman. WTF!! You just turned me off of this book massively with that. That was pretty much in the beginning of the book. After that the author made the FMC into a wimpy horny nympho who only wanted to s e x up the MMC throughout the book. I just couldn’t respect this character or the author for this character’s story arc.
As it stands, I was bored, uninterested and I won’t read this book again. Enjoy.
**Was given an ARC by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**
This was a second chance romance story.
Cecelia, CeCe, had her heart broken by Colin twice now, and she's not looking for a third time. The first time she met him was when she was visiting Scotland and they had a beautiful love affair. When she confessed that she loved him, he got angry and told her to leave.
Two years later he reached out to her, When he finds out that she's been hurt and had surgery. She ignores him at first, then she gives in. He mails her a plane ticket to see him, and she goes. His family hates Americans, this goes back to the 1800s from a business deal gone wrong. His mother and sister set her up really good, and he leaves her at the altar.
Six years later, Colin is the passenger on her flight to London. She can't believe she has to sit next to him on this long flight. He tries to get her to talk to him, she ignores him and listens to her earphones instead.
He has terrible regret for not finding her. He still loves her. But he doesn't remember what he said to her because he was drunk and he has no clue what his mother and sister did that ruined CeCe.
Can this couple can over their past and begin their future? Or has too much happened?

There was so much about their past, yet it was only ever lightly gone over. There was no big explanation for the past misunderstandings. No clear timeline of how different circumstances and issues affected the past. I felt like I was reading part 2, and must not have been aware there was a part 1 I needed to read. Definitely didn't feel like a stand alone book.
3.5 stars CeCe has always wanted to see the Northern Lights in Finland. She finally has the chance and everything is perfect. She is on her way. The last things she expected to happen was to be seated on an 12 hrs flight with her ex! Colin and CeCe has a doomed relationship 6 years prior. Friends and family help them have the worst breakup ever. When they meet up again can Colin and CeCe get over the past hurts? They want to try but CeCe still has some insecurities. Colin will admit that he was young and immature. He let his family take advantage and manipulate him. What they did to CeCe was harsh and unnecessarily cruel. CeCe was also too young. Neither fault to stay together. Now they are older, smarter and stronger together. Colin I will Melt your heart. He always says the right thing. Fun story with great characters. Love, forgiveness and
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
He’s a Scottish duke and she’s an artist who is traveling. They broke up twice before - 2nd time was on wedding day where his family convinced him she did all kinds of bad things.
So I did not like this book… nope… maybe 1st chapter was ok… but it quickly just made me go - “are you kidding me?” Ugh he says nasty stuff to her on her wedding day - then 6 years later is like I’ll follow you everywhere- what an ass. Then her - taking part of the blame for the breakups - um just no - no - no. And then her falling basically immediately into bed with him. And the reasons for the breakup were so childish. I pretty much hated their relationship- wish she found someone new. He wasn’t worth forgiving- two times… and once on wedding day - was hoping something in the story would keep me routing for them but - no.

This was a cute second chance romance. I thought Cece had it rough after Bad Night Stand but we really had no idea just how rough it all was until we got more of her backstory here. I wasn't really sure what to make of Colin at first. Faber was pretty masterful at giving us scraps of info that seemed pretty damning about their past, but it was clear we weren't getting the full story for awhile. I liked that he mostly seemed to be in redemption mode pretty much right away.
I'm finding each addition to this series makes me like this set of characters more and more. They are so all so fun and we've only really scratched the surface on most of them. I'm absolutely dying to jump right into Heather's story! That epilogue was AMAZING.
This book was different. I enjoyed the fact that they kept having things pulling them apart and they found each other. Cecilia and Colin both have misunderstandings on why things ended. Cecilia thought she got left at the alter and realized it was because of his family. She finally got thr details that she needed for closure and being able to move on a decade later. Colin thought she left with his best friend and it was all a ploy from his mother and sister. The hand written letters, using Scottish lingo rather than the American that he did not pick up on. I am glad he fought to find her to get the reap answers so many years later. I am glad they are able to get the closure they both deserve. There were some awkward parts but I enjoy how all the books in the series come back full circle and connect into each other.
This Author tends to say that her Heroine's are strong but they are total doormats, whipped. Some of the same lines are repeated from book to book in this series.
This book has everything from laugh out loud moments, to swoon melt your heart and some angst and heartache. I loved this book!! From start to finish I could not put it down
Thoughts & Notes: All the good details of the story were skipped over & everything happened too perfectly.
Genres & Tropes: Second Chance Romance
Summary: Cecelia had been through a bad breakup, that had come at Colin's hands, because she was apparently glutton for punishment, stupid and in love. Had been in love. Colin had broke her heart. I liked the sound of this, wasn't expecting intense, but sometimes though I love drama, angst, intensity I want something a little softer and this sounded great for that.
Sadly it wasn't a good fit for me, nothing wrong with the writing, the characters or the story in itself, it was the characters actions that spoiled the story for me. I don't like the way two “so in love” characters wouldn't even speak to each other after a major event like that, especially after they've already had one bad break-up. Having got past that would they really not talk about what happened? Most of us would want to know why at least, its human nature to want to know why we weren't good enough. That let the story down from both characters, I really liked them but didn't feel that behaviour was reflective of the people they were – or seemed to be.
The past/present format is one I quite like, it lets me see the past as it plays out, not via a POV of someone who may have slanted opinions. The Present in this novel covers so little time though that I just didn't really get a sense of reality, of the seriousness of what was happening. It felt like events were very lust driven when both characters were the strong type that I felt would have wanted to know they whys of the past first. I couldn't see that Cecelia would have caved so quickly given what she thought would happen, and likewise Colin. Would he really have pursued her believing what he did? I know it was a pretty convincing lie that was set up, but to so easily be duped when you supposedly love someone enough to share the rest of your life with them?
Its a shame I couldn't empathise with the couples' actions as the story plot and set up was excellent. I could see that others actions may well lead to That Event, in just the way its described. Its the shock factor, the sense of betrayal that governs immediate reactions, not the side of our brain that says “this person loves you, would they really do that?” so a short breakup is understandable. I don't feel either lead behaved in the way I'd have expected them to, by letting it go on not just months but years. Its hard to believe either would just let all that time pass without trying to find out what, why and how, for a couple so in Love to just let it drop, fade away without challenge. Maybe a much shorter separation, a few weeks say, and more reality in the present actions, and this would have been a perfect read for me. Still, as always what I want isn't what everyone wants, and this will be perfect for other readers as it is.
Stars: Two and a half. I didn't dislike all the book, loved the characters, and the cause of breakup number two was so cleverly done. Sadly the actions, or rather the inactions, of the couple let to it being a story that didn't work for me.
While this review is of a singular book, the book I downloaded is a compilation of the first three books of the Billionaire’s Club Series and one novella never before released. The name of the book I downloaded is Bad Billionaires.
Cecilia, Cece for short, could have thought it was destiny. She booked the last first-class seat to her dream destination and got the last available room at her preferred hotel. Cece was going to enjoy every bit of this vacation until the last first-class passenger sat in the seat beside her. It was none other than Colin, her ex, the man who not only broke her heart once but twice. He had left her there at the altar, never bothering to show up. That was six years ago. Now she was older and more experienced, but damn if he still didn’t have an effect on her. This is the first time each other had laid eyes upon the other since that fateful day. They had not even spoken on the phone to each other, let alone trade notes, but what was their collective truth?
Well, if the start of this story is not an excuse to join the mile-high club. :) But alas, that was not the story. The MCs had a sorted past and needed to find the truth. The physical world-building is very hazy, only letting the reader know if they are in a room, hall, or w/e. There is no content unless the characters interact with the object. The ethereal world-building is personal but well-defined. The character interaction is very interactive, as it should be, and the character history is full and well thought out.
WARNING: ADULT CONTENT: There were, however, some misspellings or gender confusion “...sucking him deep into his mouth.” Unless Cece has been secretly a male this entire time... So you can see the confusion, I hope. I give this romantic tale four stars out of five stars.
Bad Breakup by Elise Faber is book 2 in the Billionaire's Club series. This is the story of Colin and Cecelia. This can be a standalone book in the series. This tells the story of Colin and Cecilia and how their love story went off course then how they ended back together again. I like that Cecilia's story is told in the past and the present; this helps to fill in the gaps of what happened between the main characters and how their love affair went astray. It's curious that the main characters both have differing viewpoints on what actually happened all those years ago on what separated them. I have to say that I love Cecilia's sassy and fierce personality. She just has a huge weakness for Colin but I have to give her props for not melting all over him when they first cross paths after all that time being separated. This series is about 3rd chances and misunderstandings and for this couple, having been together and broken up twice before with an aborted trip down the aisle, this is their 3rd chance to get things finally right. There is chemistry and connection between them. I will say there is a few starts and stops but when the story starts going, it really starts and just going. It is a swoon-worthy, heartbreaking and yet just epic story full of heat, drama, angst, twists, turns, passion, and romance . What a deliciously awesome romance read.
Bad Breakup (Billionaire's Club) by Elise Faber is the first book that I have read in this series and by this author. I found the overall storyline to be engaging. The story goes back and forth between Colin and Cecilia. I like that Cecilia's story is told in the past and the present for me, it helps to fill in the gaps of what happened. I find that it curious that they both have differing viewpoints on what actually happened those years ago. I have to say that I love Cecilia's fiery personality. She has a weakness for Colin but she doesn't just melt all over him when they cross paths. I enjoyed the story but I found some aspects of it hard to believe. I know it's a fictional story, but I wanted a touch more reality in certain scenes and situations. I will admit that I like the chemistry between the two characters. While their history is less than perfect you can tell that they care for each other and I find that sweet and it pulls me into the story. While I do have some issues with certain scenes I still enjoyed this story. For that reason, I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. Since I haven't read the first I'm sure I am missing some aspects of the novel overall, but it is a story that I found enjoyable as a whole.
This book is about Cecelia and Collin, who end up sitting next to each other on a plane after being apart for six years. This book was just ok. After reading other reviews, I’m curious if the book I read was a revised version. Other people wrote about there being flashbacks, and I don’t feel like there were any real “flashbacks”. I felt like I was missing something. Like there was a whole other book out there where we learned about this couples past. The way the author stated many events made it seem like us, the readers, already had this information and the author was just recapping it. I found it hard to like this couple because of this. I’m sure these characters had growth but the whole history of this couple was glazed over and their history was a big part of their current relationship and who these characters were. I’m not sure if I would recommend this book to anyone. I was pretty disappointed in this book. I may eventually pick the rest of this series back up at a later date in the hopes that this book was just a fluke.
