Whether you are at home or at work, on your daily commute or traveling, you can practice mindfulness to decrease stress and improve your health and well-being.
It is often challenging to weave mindfulness into our day as we get caught up in the busyness of life. It can feel overwhelming sometimes to know what to do and how to start doing something different and having to decide stops us doing anything at all. Mindfulness on the Go is designed to address this problem. It introduces the essential pillars of mindfulness and how to cultivate it, then offers 52 daily suggestions, divided into practices and activities, to start using it. Practices are mini meditations to do while you are out and about, while activities focus more on becoming aware of your habitual patterns of behavior, as well as how mindfulness can help you to cultivate new ones. By focusing on just one thing per day, it makes it easier to remember rather than just feeling you should be mindful all the time. As you become familiar with the type of practices, you will find that you begin to do them without the prompts, and mindfulness will become part of your daily life.

I picked this one up on a whim when I was at the library, because Mindfulness was mentioned in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple: 10 Strategies for Managing Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Panic, and Worry book. It's a quick and easy read with lots of pictures and worthwhile exercises. I, personally, didn't learn anything new, given the superficial handling of various concepts. However, it definitely is a good starter book to get exposure to mindfulness if you don't want to invest time delving too deep into other CBT / Mindfulness related books.
Mostly it's just a big list of suggestions on different ways to be mindful but that's what I was looking for out of this. I liked that it acknowledged (repeatedly) that sometimes sensations can be overwhelming and if that's the case just stop.
I didn't 'get' some parts of it, "breathing into your foot" makes about as much sense to me as "baking cookies in your suitcase" might if the author had suggested that as an activity, and the explanation (essentially - imagine the breath going into your foot) didn't help clarify. I don't know if that's my neurodivergence, lack of experience with formal mindfulness, or if it's just nonsense.
Toegankelijk, makkelijk, goed leesbaar. Vooral veel oefeningen en voorbeelden. Ik leerde niets nieuws, maar zeker een aanrader als (praktische) introductie met mindfulness.
