I really enjoyed this sweet, fell-good story about Mr Walker, a gorgeous Labrador who is adopted by a family who manage a hotel. He becomes the hotel's ambassador - a job he takes very seriously and enjoys very much (even if he sometimes creates problems when trying to be helpful). The illustrations throughout are so gentle and engaging and are a lovely compliment to the story. I especially enjoyed reading something that was so positive, given that often books even for younger readers now are filled with such serious topics and themes.
This is a story about a dog who goes to live in a hotel and the adventures he has there. He helps foil a robbery and helps a famous pianist feel at home. It is based on the real dog from the Park Hyatt in Melbourne. https://www.guidedogsvictoria.com.au/...
I liked that font was large to help early readers, and the pictures were delightful in colour. It would make a lovely Kindergarten/Yr 1/Yr 2 read-aloud, and many children of that age would be encouraged to read it for themselves.
Such a cute book for all ages. Mr Walker becomes the Labrador Ambassador for Guide Dogs Australia living at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne (which much to Mr Walker's initial confusion was not a park at all). This is a cute collection of stories told from Mr Walker's point of view as he settles into life living in a busy hotel. Beautiful Illustrations as well (I listened to the audio but I have the print copy as well)
This Australian fiction book is beautifully produced and told. It is inspired by the real Mr Walker, a Guide Dog Ambassador who really does live in a hotel in Melbourne. All told by Mr Walker with quirky illustrations throughout, the chapters are short, fun, engaging and easy to read. It made me smile.
With a classic feel, this collection of short stories relate to the adventures of Mr Walker, the Labrador Ambassador of the Hotel Park Hyatt. Based on a real-life dog and story. Suitable for bedtime read alouds and independent readers. Loads of fun, with a dash of mystery and even romance. Delightful line drawings too.
A great read for younger readers. Based on the real dog Mr Walker who resides at the Park Hyatt melbourne Great emotion is created as we visualise Mr Walker on his doggie adventures within the space. Opens up plenty of discussion.
A sweet book about a dog who becomes an ambassador at a hotel in Melbourne. There are several stories in this single volume and they would be suitable for shared family reading or as a classroom read aloud.
A true story that will delight young readers. Divided into four stories, lower primary students will love joining Mr Walker in his adventures at the Park Hyatt hotel.
Charming! Based on the real Mr Walker - Labrador Ambassador - the four stories in this book are totally delightful and entertaining. Highly recommended.
There are four tales included in this omnibus and it explores the adventures of Mr Walker and his life at the Park Hyatt. Black makes Mr Walker act and behave like a dog, but he also has his own thoughts and understanding about what is happening around him. The story is entirely through his perspective and it was heart-warming to see how he loves and adores the people he works with and lives with.
Having these tales be based on the real Mr Walker who has been living and working at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne since 2017 is even better. As a failed guide dog he is a wonderful ambassador and Black includes a bio at the back of the book so you can get to know the real Mr Walker.
The four tales included are filled with mystery and drama, Mr Walker gets to investigate and solve problems, help out and help people by being himself. There is real heart in the stories and having Mr Walker be at the centre of it you get to see all these stories and see people interact with a dog they may not with another human.
There are wonderful dog moments like seeing Mr Walker manoeuvre on marble floors, seeing him play in the park with his dog friends, as well as a great representation of how he uses his nose and tracking to understand the world around him and using that to find things.
Acton’s illustrations are adorable. The simple water colour drawings are scattered throughout and depict Mr Walker in many delightful and humorous ways. They are mini inclusions amongst the text and it gives off a great storybook feel.
There are many more tales of Mr Walker but having four in this first book gets you invested in his story and I’m certainly looking forward to reading about more of his adventures.
This is my night time readaloud with Zac, we have had so many laughs already reading it together, it is lovely. There are a few in this series, I think we will enjoy them all.
This author has a wonderful way with words, and is a delight to read a loud with children. To make it even better, it is based on a true story, the adventures are truly charming.
