I was lost in midst of an eerie silence. It was cold, and darkness was all around me. My hair floated lightly in the air. No, not in the air, in water. I was immersed in water. Icy water that burned in my lungs. I was drowning and couldn’t breathe.
Desperately, I kicked my legs and moved my arms, but I could never reach the surface. Little by little I felt my strength ebbing away. It was too dark and I was so tired—but I couldn’t give up.
I didn’t want to die.
I tried to push off with my feet, hoping to feel something solid beneath me, but there was nothing but the fluctuating darkness. It was swallowing me and I didn’t know what to do. The two things that had always scared me the most were water and darkness, so I wondered how the hell I’d ended up there. Why couldn’t I have an instantaneous, painless death?
The lack of oxygen was making my head spin. I kept fighting, though every cell in my body was screaming at me to give up. I had to breathe. Opening my mouth, I inhaled desperately. Water flooded my lungs, but it didn’t hurt anymore. My body became heavy and rigid and the darkness devoured me.

Meh...
Emma Jones is not your average teenager. She has a very special ability to see the future. But she doesn't just see the future she only sees what COULD be, instead of what actually will be. And when she meets the new boys at school things start shaking up for her real quick.
The author writes well. I have no complaints about her writing style with the exception of the fact that she seems to repeat choice phrases over and over again throughout the book.
the one thing that I really had an issue with what this book is the main character. And for me having a serious problem like this with the main character is a deal-breaker. The main character of this book, I know she's only a teenager but, she is annoying as all hell. She puts herself into situations due to her own stupidity, which is different from a lack of experience. She doesn't think things through, or think at all before she does things.
And the one thing that I absolutely cannot stand above all the rest is the fact that she is being abused "but I love him..." BULLSHIT! I'm sorry but I just can't handle that kind of stupidity. The character that is supposed to be our hero is a complete, insecure weakling! Not good. I wanted so badly to get through the book and have it be like a coming-of-age and watch Emma grow up and make better decisions for herself. It is unfortunate that she never does either one.
I did however like the storyline premise. I thought that it had a lot of potential however the execution was lacking. I'm going to stay again, if this were a true coming-of-age where we got to watch the main character grow up and blossom into a better person then this would be a much better book.
I finished this book wishing that I had gotten more out of it than I did. I hope that the author does not take these criticisms to heart but instead uses them to build upon her books and make her characters stronger and more relatable in future novels.
Many have liked this one and if you like paranormal romance you may like this novel as well but I cannot guarantee that due to all the problems I had with this book.

I was with it for a little while. I dug the FMC's work ethic, her mechanic skills (which never come up in the book again), the trauma she handles, her taking care of her father—the set up was really promising. And then 50% through, the book went haywire.
MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD (But we know everything there is to know about the book about 40% in, weirdly. No secrets after 40%).
Every single chapter was a new contradiction.
—The guys want her as a bargaining chip, oh but now the guys want her for her worth. Oh, nope, now they are bonding with her to trade her still.
—"everything in this relationship is your choice; we'd never force you to do anything you didn't want to do" okay, except you are still thinking about trading her and literally JUST bonded with her against her will AND forcibly dragged her from her house AND told her she couldn't continue her job and yada yada
—"the mayor said I was fae too" okay, cool, no one has any reaction to that statement? but then a couple chapters later, they're up in arms about her dealing with the mayor who is a special kind of fae. Whatever, man.
—She gets visions and sees the future and KNOWS this is weird but trusts these visions to be true (sounds, based on the black-eye locker scene, that they've been proven true in the past), but she finds them being dragons or having her energy sucked out impossible? Hypocrisy much?
The stunted dialogue and absolute break-neck pace (four weeks pass between chapters and we get a long, multi-paragraph of "this is what happened." What? If it was so important, why not just let us read the weeks? This also happens in many paragraphs where days pass in a single sentence) had every moment lackluster. The scenes that should have been 5–10 pages were 2. The characters constantly flip-flopped between not wanting the MC to basically lusting after her—and her emotions were just as weird—before going back to nonchalance. The plot kept twisting itself around, where something's important one minute and then shoved aside the next. And where the heck did those random (not romantic) siblings come in? Like every quarter mark through the book we are introduced to another family member they had lost recently.
IDK, the first 30% of the book was a 4-or-5-star read. The middle of the book was maybe 3 stars. And the last 40% or so was a 2-star read.
The grammar isn't bad though. And the older love interests weren't gross about it. Credit where credit is due.

Emma is a high school student who struggles to take care of her father with his declining health, his business, their home and finances, and attend high school. She is bullied by pretty much everyone, led by her ex friend Serena, the mayor's daughter. She also works as a dancer at a nightclub even though she is 17, but because she needs the money she does it anyway.
Four brothers move to town just before school starts back up. Two are twins on her same grade, and tell are teachers at the school. Her life immediately becomes intertwined with all four of theirs.
This is a paranormal reverse harem series with so much potential. I look forward to seeing where the author takes us. The characters are intriguing. The twins Cam and Kai and the other two brothers Dave and James are dragons and aren't from Earth.
The plot is exciting and the concept of twin flames with physical marks that match appearing in the body at the birth of the twin flame are similarly constructed tropes I have seen before. However this seems fresh and inventive since we can only guess the potential powers Emma has.
I look forward to continuing this series!

A good start to a career as an author.
I just now finished this very first book by new author A.C. Pontone. I enjoyed her new take on soul mates and being Fae. Emma is living a very hard life for a 17 yr old senior...her father has a severely debilitating illness forcing her try and handle a his responsibilities at his garage as well as find ways to continue paying for his medical care. She is bullied everyday at school by Serena who until a few yrs ago had been her best friend. When a family of four insanely sexy young men start to school there...Emma finds herself more and more intrigued and attracted to all four of them... I dont like spoilers when reading reviews so I will stop here and say please give this young new author a try. You won't be disappointed. 😉😘

Just a warning this has small spoilers, but not enough to ruin the great fun of reading this book.
I picked this book because I was curious how it would go, and I am glad to say that I loved this book and want to continue the series. Emma has a strange power of being able to see the future, she has a nightmare every night about how she will die. Drowning. She is terrified of water. She is bullied at school, by someone who used to be a friend until High school. She starts having feelings for multiple guys, but just figures its hormones. Emma's dad is very sick, and getting worse, she struggles to pay the bills and medical. Her mom was gone at an early age, so it was just her and her father.
There are some twists in this book that can shock you and some will even make you smile. I think many will enjoy this book, especially if you are into any kind of romance novels, that has an actual plot to it.
It took me a bit to start the book cause I haven't been feeling too well and have been studying, but once I started the book I didn't stop until I was finished (well small breaks for food and such).
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. (While it was free, it doesn't change the fact that I loved the book)

I wanted to read this book since the first edition but never got the time so I was glad to see that a second edition was out.
I really like the blurb but I has some problems with the MC. She goes through the book believing some things about the magic world that she just discovered but other things she thinks it's impossible.
And she hides things from her mates that she has no reason to.

*big sigh* Where do I even begin?
Okay, this book was filled with sooooooo damn many holes and fell to sooooo many tropes, that I almost couldn't deal. I started this book when it first came out, but the elementary and uncomfortable cast dialogue made it a DNF for me. However, I came back to it to try again, after book 2 was released, and I wish that I had left it as a DNF. Seriously. I would not be pounding my head against my kitchen table at this very moment if I had just listened and trusted my first instincts on this one.
ASIDE from the fact that the book has a very flimsy storyline and subpar character development, the H in this book is absolutely ridiculous and extremely hate worthy. Within the first few pages, we are led to believe that she is an amazing technician, and I say this because she is working on the engine of a vehicle as a technician, but those first few glimpses of her play NOT A FUCKING SINGLE role in who she ends up being in the story. I really question why the author chose to introduce us to the H that way. I mean, if you are smart enough and strong enough to be able to physically work on car engines at the age of 17...you are probably pretty bad ass, right? LOL.....NOT IN THIS CASE. It's almost as if the author does not know--or does not expect any of us to know--the amount of skill, strength, and intelligence that it is involved with actually doing engine work. Either way, introducing us to the H in such a way, I believe that she was trying to portray some sort of "bad ass" image of the H for the reader and set up the reader to expect some really kick ass things, but we don't get ANY of that. NOTHING. We are given an H that is childish, weak, annoying, and naive AF!!
So, I'm supposed to believe that a character is smart enough, and dexterous enough, to know how to "do an engine job" on a vehicle (think about it, if it was THAT easy, wouldn't we all do our own engine work? Hell, most of us don't even change our own vehicle's oil because we don't know what the hell we are doing...much LESS fucking with the engines of our vehicles), is not smart enough to KNOW when being fucked over and can't walk without tripping over her own shadow??? Yeah, I think not.
If you are going to start this book off with giving me a main character that is smart enough and bold enough to do mechanical work on a car, then please follow that shit up. Don't give a main character that can do engine work, but then does not know how to navigate high school. It does not make sense. Nor does it make sense to have a character "SAY YES" to a binding a mark, because it OBVIOUSLY (per the book) has to be accepted, but then turns around and gets super pissed off for being forced "against her will" into a binding mark. BITCH PLEASE! You OBVIOUSLY don't understand what "against one's will" means. If you think that saying "yes" to something "without all the facts" is being forced "against your will", then you have another think coming. No..that's called being manipulated. I suggest you get your wording, definitions, and indignation right before you get all huffy and puffy about saying something was "against your will".
I have SO MUCH MORE I could say about this book (such as the H being a stripper--or "dancer" rather--and supposed clairvoyant, and the inconsistencies following these ridiculous claims too) and why it wasn't for me, but I honestly don't want to spend more time on this book. With the RH genre still being a bit new, I would encourage anyone to read it, but if you are anything like me, then I suggest taking a few tylenol before hand, because the H in this one is migraine inducing.

Dragons!! Yum
This was the first book in The Lost Fae Series, I thought it was a great start. Emma's a seventeen year old senior who has way too much responsibility taking care of her ailing father, but soon meets 4 brothers who flip her heart and world upside down. The guys are great and of course very protective and Emma fights them pretty hard at first do to the amount of bullying she endures at school. It was a wild ending and even though I have some ideas as to who the mystery person is, it's definitely one of the reasons I can't wait for book 2!!

When it came to ideas this book suffers from lack of editing. The author threw everything she possibly could at it and it is just cluttered. High school senior, mechanic, stripper, clairvoyant who sees visions of her own death and has frequent nose bleeds, dead mother, a father disabled from both Parkinsons and Dementia, a mob boss style mayor blackmailing business owners, a frightening and mysterious stalker and to top it all off she is the least popular girl in school, hopelessly bullied by her rich and beautiful former best friend, Regina George style. It is way too much. And with all that there isn't much of a real story. I won't be finishing this series unfortunately.

definitely recommend reading!! I really enjoyed this book, I read it in one sitting 😊 good storyline, amazing characters that had depth and descriptions that were awesome for visualizing. I love the spunk and sass that they all had and the story was both awesome and devastating (no spoilers here lol) I love reading new authors books and A.C Pontone has definitely made it on to my list of great authors. I'm really looking forward to the second book... That cliffhanger though !!

I couldn't get past 11 chapters. This is one of those 'everything and the kitchen sink' situations. Fantasy/Paranormal elements, reverse harem, bullied high school girl, student teacher romance. It was entirely too much and it was delivered with an extremely immature voice.

Flames of Truth is a compelling story about a 17-year old girl who doesn't know she's a fae and the dragon shifter brothers who discover her. Emma is a very strong, independent character, working multiple jobs to support her ailing father and trying to survive her senior year of high school. The Drakon brothers are drawn to her and she to them but secrets threaten to keep them apart. As the plot unfolds, more about Emma and the Drakons is revealed, keeping the pages turning. The creative world building progressed throughout the book as well. I was disappointed that the book ended where it did, with a major plot twist and mysteries left unsolved. I will definitely read the next book to find out what happens.

This book had me from the very first page. I ran through alot of emotions, I didnt like the guys when they were introduced, then I understood that they are broken, and needed their twin flame!!! Oh I even forgot about the stalker there for awhile until the end...loved it!!!

This is really a page turner always to see what is happening next and what Emma would learn as she grew to know and trust her dragons. The author was amazing at making you feel as if you were there, seeing what everyone was seeing and feeling what everyone was feeling.

I wasn't quite sure if I'd enjoy this book or not, but boy did i..I loved the characters, dialog, story, and the fact that the story continues. Yes, I'm glad, excited actually, there will be a book 2...I anxiously await book 2...A.C. Pontone write the book, and release it soon, plz

I really enjoyed this book and I recommend this to anyone. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Very well written, the plot and characters flowed from page to page.

New reverse harem novel
This is my first A.C. Pantone novel... I'm not sure if she has any others. (Just checked Goodreads and it looks like she has 2 others). The main character Emma was a bit of a contradiction. She was a tomboy/mechanic, but she also worked as a dancer in a stripclub. She was responsible and took care of her father, but she seemed unable of actually thinking out choices. She just kind of jumped right in. The main guys James, Dave, Cam , and Kai are all brothers. They are Fae and Dragon shifters. Some of the details are a bit confusing but I'm sure we will learn more about the world in the next book. I'm really interested in her stalker of 3(?) years. Is he a harem member or the next bad guy? I'll have to see in the next one.

good. my favioute part was the stalker it will be interesting to see where it goes in the future, though it did feel like they had forgotten about her future seeing powers halfway thro.:)

Holy smokes
Well, I just finished this book. My heart goes to Emma trying to survive the trials if highschool while dealing with a sick father. Trying to be an adult in a world that she thought she knew. Enter the dragons. She finds herself with 4 incredible dragons. I'm not a spoiler so I'm stopping here , but I cant wait for the next book ...the only tragedy in starting a series before they are all released. I would definitely reccomend this book if you like me, love fantasy set in the real world with a discovery awaiting the main character.

The idea of the story isn't the worst. Lost fae princess, dragons on a mission to save their sister and end up finding their true mate instead. But the issue, mostly, is Emma. On the surface she seems ok, girl working 2 jobs to help her sick father....but go any deeper and she is just the worst. I don't know that i can properly explain it so here are a few examples...
-A bitchy customer gives her attitude and she's like ok no charge, I mean you could have tried a little harder to talk and/or just given a discount. The whole martyr thing is a bit much.
-She goes to the guys house to get answers for all the weird things that have been happening. When they try to explain she mockingly laughs at them. Which ok it seems like a tall tale but she litteraly went there because things she can't explain were happening.
-Then she does a complete 360 and apparently believes every story she's ever heard and doesn't want the guys to be with her because of magic. So she turns martyr again and distances herself.
-She is constantly bitching at and about the guys and then remarks that it's nice to have people around to talk to. Then why does she act like such a bitch?!?!
-She gets mad at one of the guys and storms off into the woods...at night...because there's never any issues with women alone at night.
I just feel like there has to be something in between a heroine who immediately jumps at every word the male says and a heroine who is a complete bitch and tstl because she's "tough". I've had my fill of both of these.

Could have...
Could have been a good story. Main character is weak. Cam is a jerk and a bully. I don't care what happened in his past her being with him after he helped bully her is the definition of an unhealthy relationship. All of the other 3 brothers are golden.

One word... dragons. Last year I started getting into more books with dragons and I love them. All the dragon books I've read are about shifters, which are one of my favorite type of supernatural. Also love a good reverse harem so when the opportunity came up to read Flames of Truth, the first book in a paranormal romance reverse harem I was so on board.
The story centers on Emma a girl who lives in a small town, who is poor, and trying to make due, taking care of her sick father all they while trying to survive the horror show that is her high school. New people come to town, things get weird and then things get dangerous. Emma's world has been turned upside down and she is going to have to navigate her new (all be it strange) life all with the help of a few new faces.
I really enjoyed Flames of Truth, I pretty much read it in one sitting which is unusual for me but I was enjoying the story so much. The book does have the typical stereotypes, girl is beautiful but doesn't know it, she smart but poor, she is a chosen one and etc. but I was also surprise to see it didn't follow the typical reverse harem theme.
Emma goes through a lot and a lot of darker subjects are highlighted. A sick parent, a child being the parent, bullying and other adult themes. I have to admit that Emma goes through a lot more than another protagonist I have ever read about. I don't like the fact that she appear meek by letting the bullies treat her like that but I understand it because in real life bullies (most of the time) get away with doing things. While she does stand down to the bullies she realize that high school is not life and that things will get better. Another aspect of Emma is that she is so stubborn and when it comes to the guys she does hold her ground.
The guys... I think they are okay but I still need to warm up a little more to them. I think it was because this was not a "you are my mate so I love you" type of situation. Both sides of the equation had to work towards some kind of relationship and not exactly a romantic one at that. This is more of a slow burn romance, while things are tense the relationships aren't moving a break-neck speeds. I can't wait to see how the relationship between them develop in the next book.
Lets talk about plot. I enjoyed the basic story, it was able to keep my interest throughout the book and everything flowed nicely. I do wish I got a little more background to the supernatural world. I know this is the first book and that more may be revealed but I just got a basic look at the world and I would really love more details.

Good ideas and plot...but poor execution. There were many parts in the story where the writing was just stellar, but most of it was a little lacking. The pace was too fast and important plot points were sped through. Like way too fast. To give this book the flow it needs, to aid in the story itself, another hundred pages needs to be added. The story itself is good. I like it and it has potential to kick ass, but not as it is.
First, James mentions that when you find your “twin flame” it’s all consuming. He says “They say that when you find your Twin Flame, the earth trembles under your feet. All at once you realize that up until that moment, your life has been incomplete. The moment you enter into contact with your other half, the world as you know it begins to crumble and a whole new world takes its place, only this time it’s different because it’s whole and complete.” But none of them realized she was their twin flame at first, so they treated her like dirt. I like the bully trope, don’t get me wrong, but this wasn’t that. This was “bully” to “mate” in the span of a few pages. They only changed their tune because of who she was, not because they actually started developing feelings.
Second, there was an overuse of exclamation points. I have trouble taking characters seriously when everything is written with an exclamation point. Especially with Dave and Cam. They’re the more serious ones, yet their inner musings are full of them. They also have very similar demeanors. RH should have very distinct personalities to keep the story/relationships spicy and to add real elements. My favorite example is Power of Five by Alex Lidell. She made her men very distinct. If she were to put out a new book, and gave us all quotes from the book, we’d be able to tell who said what. That’s important. Otherwise, they all just blend together in tedium. Kai was the only one who was really different. James was the “leader” and was closed off. Dave and Cam were essentially the same personality.
Third, and most frustrating, is Emma herself. Emma seems to have a split personality-emotional teenage girl and brave hard ass. This isn’t to say that feelings aren’t cool, because they are, but this was too conflicting. This girl had the weight of the world on her shoulders and managed it with her “walls” and determination (sound familiar?). But then, a few pages later, we’d read the emotional side for a long time. She “doesn’t care” what the bullies think, yet is always crying or fighting tears. She’s both incredibly mature and incredibly immature.
I hope that the author can go back and rerelease the series after some work. It has the potential to be soo much more.

Emma Jones is seventeen, she's just trying to get through her senior year, avoiding the bullies and her personal stalker, as well as taking care of her sick father. She works hard to keep her father's repair shop running, working a second job, and keeping up her grades since her father's health declined. On top of all of this she see's the future, in particular her death and she doesn't believe she's going to make it another year.
Enter the Drakons into her life, at first they are her tormentors then they become her protectors as she is revealed to be their Twin Flame and a whole lot more. Two of the brothers are in her classes and two are teachers at her school. I struggled with believability several times in this book especially with teachers being allowed to teach their own brothers and that she was seventeen to their adult ages. Their being dragon and she being Fae seems to make it all okay for the author but it felt uncomfortable at times.
There is a lot going on in this first book in the series and it's only the tip of the ice berg as the ending is only the start of their story. While Emma just wants to avoid trouble it always seems to find her, and she's not very good at avoiding it. The book starts off with her working on engines and appearing to be this smart, tough girl then the rest of the book she seems to descend into helpless, stupidity, I was surprised she didn't heed her father's warnings about the Mayor. I wanted to see more strength from her, and less too stupid to live moments but it is the beginning of her story maybe she'll get there and the strength I thought I saw at the opening of the book will reappear in future books in the series.
This is a to be continued story, with almost nothing resolved at the end, and lots unanswered threads to be resolved at some future date and though this is billed as a reverse harem not a lot of focus is placed on it in this book.

Interesting Idea But A Bit Clunky In Places
I’d probably give this book 3.5 ⭐️ if I could.
This book had some great ingredients but it seemed to a lack a little on execution.
Emma is 17 years old and holds down two jobs as well as going to school. Her life is hard and unhappy. Her Dad has Parkinson’s and her mother died when she was so little she can’t remember her. In order to keep the family business going Emma works as a mechanic in her father’s garage. In order to make ends meet and pay his medical bills she gets paid under the table working in a nightclub that also expects her to pole dance. She hates this job but it pays well.
At school she is bullied relentlessly by someone who used to be her best friend, who is the daughter of the town’s mayor, so she manages to draw the rest of the school into her bullying. On top of this she has visions of the future that are so debilitating she has nosebleeds. Oh and she’s had a stalker for the last four years, she hasn’t told anyone about.
Into all this unhappiness steps four brothers, two who are her teachers and two who are students and she is drawn to them.
These bones of the story are great and the concept of what the brothers are to Emma is interesting. However, though the relationship with the brothers starts out shaky and ends well, how they transition from one state to the other is done in a very choppy way. One day she resents them, the next everything is fine and there seems to be little to demonstrate how that happens. There is no gradual change in emotions it just happens because ‘magic’.
I really wanted to like this book because it has lots of things I enjoy in it, but there was just something lacking and I can’t put my finger on it, except to say it was clunky and that lack of subtlety annoyed me, because it could have been so much more with a little bit more finesse.

However, though the relationship with the brothers starts out shaky and ends well, how they transition from one state to the other is done in a very choppy way. One day she resents them, the next everything is fine and there seems to be little to demonstrate how that happens. There is no gradual change in emotions it just happens because ‘magic’.
I really wanted to like this book because it has lots of things I enjoy in it, but there was just something lacking and I can’t put my finger on it, except to say it was clunky and that lack of subtlety annoyed me, because it could have been so much more with a little bit more finesse.

Flames of Truth (The Lost Fae Book 1) Kindle Edition

This book was good enough that I immediately picked up the second one to read.
While there are issues, including unexplained time jumps and stereotypes
from the world of Reverse Harem, I found the story and the characters compelling.
Emma, the heroine, is complex. She is a teenager thrust too soon into adulthood. She is forced to care for a father slipping into advanced early onset dementia/Alzheimer's. She is regularly bullied at school and can see no future for herself other than caring for her father. Everything seems to be this kind of normal until the Drakon brothers appear.
The four Drakon brothers are on a mission to bring the Heir of Faery back to the illegitimate king in order to save their sister. Everything was going to that horrible plan until they run in, physically in at least one case, into Emma. She is their Twin Flame, and now they want nothing more than to care for her.
Pontone does an excellent job of feeding clues of Emma's identity, and creating tension. Pontone also gives a great explanation of where the Fae and Faery come from.
This is a slow burn, we only have one on-screen love scene and it is pretty tame.
All in all good enough to want to read on, but not quite enough to be on my top 10 of the year.
