Rumblewick is a highly qualified right hand cat to the most unwilling witch in the kingdom. He's contractually bound to shape her into the most well-rounded, disgustingly terrible witch she can be, but unfortunately, Haggy would much rather be a normal little girl than do things like boil frogs and frighten children. Poor Rumblewick Haggy's antics keep him on his toes, endlessly dodging the wrath of the Hags on High.
Here's the latest problem: Haggy Aggy's made "bestest" best friends in the whole wide world with two very unwitchy girls. And they have asked her to sleep over tonight and she's said YES. That certainly isn't what a witch who WANTS to be a witch does, is it?
Through humorously illustrated diary entries that are perfect for emerging readers, Rumblewick details life with Haggy, the loveable witch who just can't get with it
Hiawyn Oram is a very successful author of children's books in Britain. Her books include the popular Not-So-Grizzly Bear Stories, the Animal Heroes series, and Mona the Vampire. She lives in London.
Rumblewick has one giant problem: being a cat to a witch who doesn’t want to be one. The book is his published, stolen diary of his life with Haggy Aggy and her trips between the Other side (where humans live) and This Side (where witches reside). Although the characters fall a bit short, the cleverly font-ed (not a word I know) text and humorous illustrations lend a whimsical air to the story that may appeal to reluctant readers.
On this side of the Horizon Line, Rumblewick the cat has his hands full trying to train Haggy Aggy to be a decent witch - conjuring spells and scaring children on the Other Side. But he is the unluckiest familiar, since Haggy Aggy is fascinated by all things Othersidely...so much so that it is now rumored among the familiars of the High Hags that Haggy Aggy is trying to ditch the witch way of life and become an Othersider all together.
After a scolding from HA's Aunt Pondernot, HA accidentally ends up on a roof on the Other Side, and sees Otherside girls in the building doing JIM. All of that tumbling and leaping in the air seems like so much fun, she can't wait to try it.
Forced to tag along (and miss practice for the Grand Steeple Chase Race), Rumblewick can only stand by helplessly while HA befriends two Other Side girls - Zinnia and Tulip. The girls invite Haggy Aggy to sleep over at Tulip's house, and she is absolutely thrilled...to the horror of Rumblewick.
While Haggy Aggy is at the sleepover, Rumblewick discovers that the High Hags have a reward out for anyone who can catch HA in the act of being Othersidely. Yikes and triple yikes! Poor Rumblewick has to scramble to find a way to stop HA, or they'll both be in a ton of trouble.
Full of delightful names and "this sidely" phrases, Rumblewick's diary made me giggle throughout, and is sure to do the same for any younger reluctant readers. I'll definitely be looking for more.
My unwilling witch is a series of 8 books in a format of a diary about an unwilling witch called Aggy Haggy who isn't your traditional Hubble - Bubble - toil and trouble witch but a strange weird ( but wonderful ) witch who wants to blend in with humans! I would recommend this book to children6 to 10.The books text looks like its actually was written by Rumblewick because the way its written is sort of scruffy but readable. There's illustration throughout the book so good it makes you get a really good idea of what's going to happen before you've read the writing!!
In My unwilling witch sleeps over Aggy Haggy ( the witch ) gets invited over to a humans friends house for a sleepover and rumblewick ( her cat ) is forced to save her AGAIN! As she cant stop using her spells the humans might find out about her witchcraft!!!!!
The second book in a series that is perfect for 2nd and 3rd grade girls. This time the witch watches girls having fun in "JIM" class and decides she wants to take part. She soon is taking part in JIM class and becomes friends with the girls. She is then invited to a sleep over with the girls. As the witch learns all there is to know about sleep overs, her cat tries to get her to scare the girls so the other witches don't catch her acting like a girl. Funny and in an easy-to-read diary format written by the witch's cat with lots of pictures.
i would like to read this book everyone is telling me that this book is good and its a two sided so when i am done with that side i can go write to the other side so cant wait
Hagatha Agatha is a perfectly unwilling witch. The comparisons and stories her assigned witch's cat tells are hiliours. It reminds me of when I slept over at Reese's house.
