Wrapped in Ink is the 12th book in the Montgomery Ink Boulder Series. Liam Montgomery is a tatted bad boy author who loves his family, tattoos, and writing. When he lands in the hospital after a mishap at a family member’s wedding he meets the sweet girl next door Arden Brady. Arden is no stranger to the hospital and she would love nothing more than to live a normal life without illness and heartbreak. Liam and Arden begin to talk and a friendship forms quickly. Both have big families and both work in the romance industry. But even with so many things working in their favor, is Liam willing to commit his forever to a girl dealing with a life long illness?

description
"Did I just see you flick off your brother at a very fancy event?"
Told in multiple POV, Wrapped in Ink is a sweet romance with passion and a lot of heart. The family dynamics enhance the plot greatly as both main characters bring their own family drama and humor to the plot. The passion between Liam and Arden is smoking hot and the way in which he cares for her makes him a perfect match for Arden.
"There was only one."
Overall, Wrapped in Ink will appeal to readers who enjoy a sweet contemporary romance with tattoos and a plethora of family drama. This is my first Carrie Ann Ryan and I look forward to reading more. If you are looking for a light and sweet read, get this tatted baby on your Kindle now!

This book comes with a sweet surprise for me. I was not expecting a sweet, simple story. But i end up liking it very much. All credit to Liam. He is such a.... quirky hero. With a very normal side dish of vulnerability. And thats makes him a human being.

I love how the characters interaction. Sweet banters. Sweet realistic dates. A a pup in the middle of it. When i read the blurp, i though the story will be angst and full of drama. But it is the opposite actually.

The love is slowly build from the character development. There is that attraction but their lust also develop over time. It is a very sweet sweet story.

I love getting lost in the world of the Montgomery's and now we have a whole new bunch of them to fall in love with in this new spin-off series located in Boulder Colorado. Wrapped in Ink is Liam Montgomery's story and it is emotionally charged so be prepared!

Arden Brady has been dealing with an illness that isn't visible to the naked eye and it has made her a prisoner in her own life. Autoimmune diseases aren't easy to deal with so she has lost all of her friends and her last boyfriend, now it's just her online friends and her brothers but she's happy in her own little world, or so she thought before she met Liam.

Liam and Arden met in the hospital, it's a chance meeting but they each felt something so when he asked for her number she gave it with the hopes he would actually use it and not just toss it away.

I never like revealing things in my reviews and try to keep them as spoiler free as possible so I won't go into detail but know things happen to shake Liam's world and there were plenty of tears shed while reading this book both for Liam and Arden.

For me Liam and Arden are a special couple and truly were fated to meet, you'll understand why once you read the book. I absolutely loved them and their story. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Jasper, Arden's adorable puppy that has a sweet tooth a mile wide, this little fella made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion and deserves to be acknowledged for it.

If you haven't read any of Carrie Ann Ryan's books before this is a perfect time to start, grab your copy today and see for yourself how special Liam and Arden are.

Happy Reading!!!

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and while I really wanted to love this story I found I couldn’t stay in it.
The fact that Arden has Lupus was a great premise that I hadn’t encountered before. While I did learn a lot about what someone with Lupus may go through I found that this was not enough to keep me invested. Some of the conversations that happened between various characters just didn’t seem believable to me and drove me a little crazy, to be honest. Maybe it was the writing style.
I stopped at 78%. I know, I know. I was so close.

3 Liam and Arden Stars

Low (no) angst read about an ex model turned author and a woman who is trying her best to maintain as normal an existence as she can whilst she battles major health issues.
Liam Montgomery discovers information about himself that throws him for a loop. At the same time he meets a woman who captures his attention. Arden suffers with lupus which means she can struggle with health issues at times. These two have an instant , and rather sweet , attraction. But is it the right time for either of them to get involved?
Lots of secondary characters are present in this book - both H/h are from huge families. There is a good build to all the sexy stuff and the two of them are well suited.
I feel bad for saying this but I did find this book a bit gloomy at times. Overall it is well balanced with humour but on occasion I felt a bit overwhelmed by Arden's physical health problems.

I think there will be lots more to come in this series and I am very intrigued to find out some of the other characters stories. First books in a series always have the daunting task of setting up plot lines and characters for future books.

HEA? More HFN
Cheating? No chance. This one is very safe with no other love interests or any scenes with OM/OW.

I listened to the audiobook with Joe Arden narrating. (Great narration)

Content warning for anyone with grave medical concerns, this is not light reading. It involves the h living with Lupus, an auto-immune disease that is non-curable merely treatable, it is chronic and it can be incapacitating. In my opinion the story focuses largely on Arden’s symptoms and the romance was secondary.

Arden is best described as being the baby sister to four over-protective brothers and attributes her reaction to Liam, as a ‘Lupus-induced fantasy’. They first meet at the hospital, as Arden gets an infusion treatment from sun exposure.

Liam and his family were attending a wedding reception. The impact from falling scaffolding injured him to the extent he’s in the bed next to Arden at the hospital.

At home, his brother reminds him that for insurance purposes, the hospital needs his birth certificate (this is unprecedented), hospitals and the healthcare system in my experience, do not require a birth certificate.

“My birth certificate? Shouldn’t an insurance card work?”
“They said they needed a copy for something. It’s probably for insurance or something. Or whatever.”
“I found it. But…I don’t think it’s right. It…it has Mom’s name. But…there’s something wrong, Liam.”
“It doesn’t have Dad’s name. It doesn’t say Timothy Montgomery. It has
some guy named Steve on it. Who is Steve?”
At the sound of a shocked gasp behind Ethan, Liam turned. There was his
mother, her face dead white, her hand over her mouth, and his father, Timothy
Montgomery, looking as if they had seen a ghost.

Before he was born, his parents fought constantly...they did not take a break, but ended their relationship. She goes out, has one too many drinks, makes bad decisions, takes precautions and ends up with an unplanned pregnancy. They reconciled the next month and based on the timeline, Timothy is not the father.

“I adopted you, your mom and I got married, Steve signed over his rights, and I adopted you. In the state of Colorado, you can get that changed on the birth certificate, especially within the first year. I am your father. I raised you. Your mother and me. I have always been your dad. You are Liam Montgomery. You’re not that guy, Steve’s.”

His paternity revelation at thirty-five has him unraveling...and resentful by the secrecy of their misguided intentions.

“What if I had done one of those AncestryDNA kits that are all the rage right now? What if I had figured something out on my own? Why the hell did I have to figure it out this way?”

“We should have found a way to tell you what happened, but we didn’t. I’m your father. I was there when you said your first word. Dad, by the way. I was there when you took your first steps. I have always been there. Your mother has always been there. We’re your parents. Not some guy whose name was on your birth certificate for a month of your life.”

Liam was once a model, but he got tired of the lifestyle and his marketability was abating as he aged. Therefore he decided to enter the second stage of his career, as an author.

Arden’s life is remote, living the best life she possibly can. Her isolation is not self-inflicted but a matter of circumstance. Her visits to Senior citizens are sometimes a chore, not because it infringes on her time but because, despite her being significantly younger, she feels positively ancient.

Arden’s condition is challenging, she has limited energy to expend and oftentimes, she is confined from doing other things.

Despite Liam asking for her number, initially he doesn’t ring her because of his inner turmoil, but ironically he lives in her neighbourhood. They bump into one another as she’s chasing her Siberian Husky, Jasper. Jasper plays a featuring role and he was my favourite character.

Coincidentally, Arden is a fan of his writing recognising his name and serves as a researcher for his book compendiums.

Arden is battling her disease as she tries to have as normal a life as possible and Liam was sympathetic and understanding.

Wrapped in Ink is the first book to the Montgomery Ink Boulder series and this one starts us off with a highly emotional and heartwarming story. Liam and Arden cross paths and with just one smile this might just be more than a fleeting moment. As a shock discovery turns Liam’s life upside down Arden might be a welcome distraction. Arden has spent her life in and out of hospital and also watching people walk out of her life as it all becomes too much for them. Can Liam finally be the man who can weather the storm at her side or will her illness, his own problems and her very overprotective brothers be too much. Their story grips you hard and will have a stronghold on your heart until the very end. Liam and Arden’s story will touch not only your heart but will dig deep into your soul. A poignant journey of love in the most profound way.

This is a case of “it’s me and not the book”. I had a hard time getting into the book. I was able to stick with it but I struggled. The hero was in his mid 30s but he came across as younger. He was in his head alot of the time. I also felt like some of the words and conversations from the brothers sounded more like women having conversations. I found myself squinting a lot in confusion about the characters. I didn’t really get them.

It was not a bad story, it just didn’t click with me.

This was an okay book I guess. I just didn't feel the connection between the mcs and there was way too much drama and too many cliches. The book doesn't seem to flow right. A couple of times I thought a couple of chapters were missing but I guess that's this authors style.

Not my kind of books so won't be reading anymore from her.

I was Wrapped up in all the “feels” in this book...

Taken with these characters from the very beginning. The drama for this Montgomery family may be different than for the Denver family, but it’s just as heart wrenching. Liam is very enigmatic, protective, and in his own way happy go lucky. Arden is so brave. She’s had to put up with feeling badly and being in hospitals for so long she could be bitter or could totally shutdown. Instead she tries to make the most of every day. They both need a distraction, what better than each other. This sweet falling in love story is thought provoking and spicy hot, don’t miss it.

Wrapped in Ink is a fantastic addition to the Montgomery Ink saga. I love that the author looks outside the box and believes that everyone should have their happily ever after. I LOVED Arden and her fantastic outlook on life and her resilience. I’d already liked Liam from his bits in other stories but getting to watch him fall was terrific. This story will tug your heartstrings and make you smile.

The heroine has lupus and we spent a majority of the book seeing her flare ups and the fall out from it. I just never felt like the connection was there between Liam and Arden. I wish there was a little bit more romance because we went from strangers to madly in love but it felt like something was missing.

I loved this story and I love all the siblings in both families as well as their friends. Liam and Arden are great characters who are both dealing with a lot in their lives. They are looking for a safe and secure place in port. Can't wait to hear the rest of their stories

2 distracted stars

Well I finished it, that should count for something. The girl had Lupus, you know this because that's all she talks about. Her whole identity is her disease. I appreciate the representation of an autoimmune person in romance, but did it have to be in every conversation on every page? If it wasn't lupus it was over protective brothers trope. That's the book. Oh and some weird family cult thing where everyone wears a family tattoo. Also, WTF with his sister just showing up? That's beyond weird. So many things made me say WTF, the amount of times the word distraction is used, the fact a hospital needed a birth certificate (never in my whole life has that happened), the discussion of how big the family is, sigh. I should have DNF.
How I rate a story. (In order of importance)
Does it keep my attention? I skimmed so not really
Is it plausible / logical? Yes
Grammatical errors or odd, repetitive language? Distraction, distraction, distraction
Do I like the characters? Not at all
I'm giving it 2 stars because I finished it 🌟🌟 but won't be reading the next one and overall, wouldn't recommend.

Did not finish

I couldn't finish this book, chapter 12 out of 22 and I'm throwing in the towel! This book is extremely juvenile and there's nothing interesting within to make me force myself to finish it. The main characters are boring and the author repeats the h's "poor, pitiful me" act throughout. It's highly repeative and if you've heard how the h doesn't have any real friends or how her lupus effects her life, you'll hear it at least a dozen more times before you hit chapter 12. The dialog between the characters is odd, for what there was of it. There was no chemistry or spark between the characters so, I'd have felt more comfortable had they hooked up on a whim. You won't really get to know the H because the book surrounds you with the h and her poor me attitude and doesn't venture out from that.
This is a stand alone, you don't have to read the others in the series before this one to understand this one.
I do not recommend.

DNF!!!

It was quite terrible! It was as if it was written for young adult. Too much family meddling and a lot of explanation of sentences that were unnecessary. Like for example oh I stole your address because I wanted to know if you wanted to do girls thing because you don’t get out much so therefore there would be no girl to do those things with. Not word for word but that’s how the entire book is written.

Nope

This book is just sooo painful to read. There were just too many ramblings that had no substance, that just did not add any value to the whole story. Some ramblings (in other books) can be cute. They made the characters adorable. But that did not happen in this story. The endless ramblings were just super annoying.

So depressing

Haven’t read a sick main character story that was so dreary in a long time. The H’s family saga was so unrealistically handled, just wanted the book to end and put me out of my misery. No angst, no drama- this despite, tons of characters being introduced but never used. Started in a hospital and gets wrapped up there. Then the end.

Lightweight / Poor.

Poor, didn't live up to the title. I expected a far better read. More of a Juvenile lead rather than an Alpha main character. Very disappointed. One for the bin.
