Sleep Around the Farm

This is a beautiful storybook written by Ken Baker. The storyline is great for little ones, 2-5 year olds. I think an older child would use this as a read together or a read myself book, 6-8 years.
The great illustrations by Steve Gray are vivid and whimsical.
Belle , the cow, is trying to find the perfect place to sleep around the farm. The hay is to scratchy. She found a feather bed, but it was to lumpy and loud. So she moved on. She wanted a drink and went to the well. What happened is for you and the other farm animals to discover.

My first graders loved this book. They were laughing throughout the whole book. We also loved the pictures and all the crazy eyes. This is also an AR book for anyone who might want to know. I would recommend this book to others.

A little on the advanced side for my one-year-old, but he'll grow into it, and he's crazy about Steve Gray's hilarious illustrations. I too am pretty thrilled with it—the first pre-lit book I've actually laughed aloud at since I was at the age where I was reading them for myself. Another that hasn't been in the house long enough for me to gather data on repeated readings (though we did read it again last night not long after our first go-round with it) or how the little guy will react to it over time, but first reaction: this is going to end up being one of our favorites. Good stuff indeed! ****

Belle the cow is having a hard time falling asleep. In her search to find a comfy place on the farm, she causes such a ruckus that she awakes her fellow barn mates! The writing is simple and clear, with an emphasis on adjectives. The pictures are bright and interesting. I think it is a good book that will be accessible to a variety of children. It would be a good book to read before nap time to remind children that their actions affect others.

Belle the cow can't sleep in the barn. The hay's too itchy. So she tries different beds around the farm until she finds one that she's comfortable in and allows her to stay. The "feather" bed (ducks) didn't particularly like her sitting on them while they were trying to sleep.

However, her final bed for the night may work for the one night. After that, there may be problems.
