Book : Minuscules , when less is more
Author: Priyanka Bhatt
Pages:141
Publisher: Notion Press
Well, for once I will not call this as my review . These will be more like my thoughts, more like how it made me feel .As most of the details about the book has been covered effective in the blurb hence I would get straight to what I have to say about it.For starters , the size of the book, the texture , the cover everything in its physical form was soothing . The book is filled with tales and poems with no particular theme yet it manages to excites the reader . It ranges one liners to poems , from micro tales to short stories. And it deals from love to horrors , from violence to social issues.
There is just one word to describe the book and that is beautiful for it does what the author wanted it to do . It conveys the feelings , just plain simple feeling without any characterisation , categorisation or background . It's just simply thoughts and words .
So here is a 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠 from me to the author for the simplicity , beauty , initiative and courage .In short a thoughtful book filled with thoughtful words.
I highly recommend this book to everyone as it does not demand a lot from the reader due its shortness and simplicity.

Minuscules is a collection of micro tales and short stories representing its author’s life and worldview. The themes of the nuggets of evocative words range from love, betrayal, pain, hope, books, religion, to faith, horror, etc. There are rants expressing the sentiments of the author. They explicitly portray her grim experiences of life and her courage to withstand it all. The writing style is fairly simple. One would be comfortable and quick to connect with the words of the author.

It broke my heart when human lives are put on the stake because everything is fair in love and religion. The recognition of a raped woman’s distress and her expression of it gave me a jolt. How quick are we to judge and produce a verdict. How difficult it is for a victim to get on with her life and fight. I am moved when I stumbled upon this – Ageing isn’t a problem. Aging with a wrong person is. It speaks a lot if we try to measure its depth. Aditya’s story taught me the best that the old memories that bring desolation and disillusionment must be buried to lead a peaceful life. Aeons was a compelling love story which was never said but felt in the actions of the lover. The account on Art was my favorite. Here, I could relate best to the author’s whims and heartfelt emotions.

The book is a bundle of colorful emotions enwrapped in a black cover with a red feather. A feather symbolizes a brush and here, the author has painted her heart with the mighty pen. Indeed, a pen gives the wings to fly.

36th Book of 2018

Quote from the Book I Liked - 'any form of art brings joy; it carries an essence of beauty. Art is anything you desire it to be. It can be an abstract painting, a painful poem, an immortal tune, a drop of rain, an invaluable gift.'

My Review - This is the Debut Novel by Priyanka Bhatt, filled with all the pain and hardships she's been through. She writes down about all the pain she endured during her grown-up years and till now and how she cope up with the world and society she lives in. She penned down all of this in some short stories and some very short stories in 4 to 5 lines.

She wrote about Love, Romance, Betrayal, Relationships, and some Goofy stuff. All the stories are quite good but some are just and some are better from the perspective of a reader. Through this book, Author poured her heart out by letting all of her readers know and letting herself free of Grief, Regret and Remorse.

Conclusion - A short read which can be read after some Book-hangover.

“Minuscules by Priyanka Bhatt” is a debut novel.
About the book:
This book is bound by emotions rather than a story. Its more kind off poetic writings, where one can feel the inner wound faced by the author. The pacing is so intact and precise. It’s a combination of poetic stuff and micro tales.

She has penned down her pain and sentiments that one can experience it while reading. We can sense all kind of feelings like love, fear, romance, hurt, hidden scars, cry, happiness, anger etc., In Tamil we say “Hykoo Kavidhai” for small or four-line poems, I could see the similar pattern of writings.

I really appreciate the way she has taken this book, its entirely different concept compared to other books. I could sense Ruskin Bond and Rupi kaur in her writings. I really loved this beautiful book and I would recommend to all readers. It’s a short read and you would never regret for reading the same.

I would like to rate 4/5 for this fantastic book.

Lately I have been reading a lot of Women authored books on microtales.

I absolutely love books on such  abstract writings now a days.

Authored by Priyanka Bhatt "Minuscules"  is a beautiful book filled with loads of Microtales and some short stories that are based on varieties of topics of life.

Starting with the cover, the cover is simple yet beautiful. I love black – red combination. Title is totally relevant. I loved author's writing style. Her poems directly connected with my heart. The way she has written a short story after few poems, I liked it. Each and every poem has expressed a deep meaning and every page depicted a different emotion. Language is simple, making it easy to read. I found it to be an engaging read and finished it almost 2 hr. Recommended : Yes esp. To poetry lovers.

Wow! Such a nice change. From reading the romance genre since ages, I finally got a chance to read something drastically different. With a gamut of topics - horror, love, self love, career, etc. The Minuscule is a refreshing read.

The book contains snippets of 2-3 liners from various themes and some 1-2 pagers too. I started reading and couldn’t keep it down until I completed the book which won’t take more than an hour.

While the book has some really nice snippets on love, relationships and happy things, all of a sudden there is a horror snippet which isn’t less scary. Though the only thing I felt was that I’ve heard those snippets and anecdotes before and it wasn’t very new, but the author has made good effort overall.

With no characters, no mushy plots etc, it’s a perfect quick read.

Book Title: Minuscules
Author: Priyanka Bhatt
Format: Paperback

Book Title:
The title of the ' Minuscules ' is very unique and engaging.

Book Cover:
The cover image of the book is a red colored single feather on a dark black ground which is abstract yet impressive. The red colored feather looks fascinating and stands apart.

Inside the book:
That abstract feeling when a reader who is an outsider gets to understand the life events of the characters created by the author or the events from the author's life is perfectly presented in this book.

The book is a nice amalgamation of every possible human emotion in the format of a quickie poem and tiny tales. Like every coin has two sides, every incident in one's life has a darker side too. Such emotions are also very nicely portrayed.

What I like:
1. The language with which the book is written
2. The presentation, both the content and the print of the book are pleasing
3. Good mixture of poems and stories in the queue is a novel idea of presenting one's thoughts and the author did the task greatly.
3. Every page carried out a different emotion, a perfect ala carte of feelings.

What I didn't like:
The book is so good that I could not trace any drawbacks.

Narration:
A very soul touching narration of every incident in the form of tiny poems and small stories is carried out with much care.

Language & Grammar:
A blend of colloquial and literary language is used.

My Final Verdict:
Quick bytes but with a tinge of good emotion!

Book Title: 4/5
Book Cover: 4/5
Inside the book: 4/5
Narration: 4/5
Language & Grammar: 4/5
Final Rating: 4/5

This collection of short stories and micro tales is something that you would find as subtle, light and easy to comprehend. The writing was done so metaphorically and every short story had a twist and a deeper meaning. The writing showed the author's capability to metamorphose. There were tales told from a dead person's perspective, a killer's perspective and many more.

Most of the tales were so unpredictable and were of varied genre that one wouldn't be able to tell what is coming. At times, I went like "okay...that escalated quickly." I liked some of the short stories which portrayed human emotions pretty well and made me feel nostalgic for the most part, thinking of my childhood, the barber shop, slam books, candies, it felt like a good trip.

But I couldn't relate to most of it as promised by the blurb. And I wished to feel more. I did smile while reading some of the micro tales but I couldn't connect to the sorrow of some. And that is something that is essential for me when I read short stories or poetry.

For me, the book was nothing like Rupi Kaur's poetry. Both cannot be compared. While the style is very similar, the essence is totally different. So, if you like the style, do go for Miniscules. This one did impact me more than Rupi Kaur's poetry, though.

The author has a commendable style of writing and I really appreciate it. But one thing which irked me is some of the tales that revolve around love. They were mostly cheesy and a little bit unrealistic for me. It felt forced.

And some of them did feel like facebook quotes, to be honest.

Thank you to the author @priyanka_bhatt2016 for sending me this review copy in exchange for an honest review.

The book talks about the experience of the author as a whole in the form of short stories interspersed with short musings.

🔸You will know the experiences the writer has gone through, the good and the bad.

The memories, the heartbreak one goes through, the trauma of being a rape victim as mentioned in a short story, the insecurities and the uncertainties of growing up in a broken family, the obvious pain of being born a woman, the helplessness of seeing your own mother going through pain everyday.

So many sensitive issues have been dealth with in this small book.

Each page is filled up with genuine undertones of a voice that is reaching out to the one reading the lines as if both are engaged in a life long conversation.

✔️The language is simple, straightforward, hard hitting

✔️Covers all the relevant experience about life : childhood, schooldays, parents, love, relationships, loneliness, bitterness, depression, worklife, and lots more; plus the creepiness quotient that is hard to ignore 👍

✔️ Overall this was such a good read.
This is one of those books that even if you try to look for flaws, you will not be able to point out one. 😋 Maybe the only flaw is you picking this book up and start reading it 😉

Because it is difficult to put down this book.
Yes! I totally loved this book.

***My favourites : "All the male members of my family are afflicted.
Unfortunately, patriarchy is incurable." "I'd wanted to keep him my secret.
But my dog ruined the game.
.
.
.
He discovered the body last night.' How creepy is this?! I thoroughly enjoyed every page. This is one such surprising good read.

I have recently read Priyanka Bhatt's Minuscules which is published by Notion Press and marketed by Half Baked Beans. The author has penned down her thoughts, emotions and feelings in a praiseworthy way. Myriad themes and topics have been covered throughout the book. One can find heart-touching tales of romance, politics, war, abuse, horror, love and loss. These tales are sometimes written over two pages and sometimes in just two lines. The book has a universal appeal and the readers will definitely find something to spark their interest. The author has given the readers an insight into her painful past and has still attached a silver lining to it. It is an example of how to live with pain, how to embrace it and how to stand tall even after all of it.

“Minuscules: when less is more” is a collection of unique micro tales and short stories which touch on a wide range of topics. Right from Social Issues to Society to Romance and Personal Life, there is nothing unwritten. The book begins with deep micro tales, soft as well as harsh enough to move you. Mask, Hope, Solitude, Gift, everything is intense as you begin reading.

The book is short as it contains micro tales and short stories. So, once you began reading, you are bound to finish it in one go. I wasn’t able to keep the book down until I finished it. The book is plain yet simple and heartwarming and heartbreaking. The author simply knows how to use simple words but at the same time stab a nail in your heart with every line. Murders. Everything just oozes as you read.

Here’s one from the book:

“When I look at the birds,
I think of their ability to soar high.
I wish I had wings.
‘You’ve a pen instead,’ God replies.

Highly recommend to anyone who is fond of reading short stories or micro tales. If short stories and micro tales excites you irrespective of the theme, then you should give this book a go.

I recently got a chance to review this beautiful book “Minuscules” and I couldn’t put this down for a single moment. Each poem is written so wonderfully. Every verse brings out an array of emotions from within. It feels as if every verse has a character of its own, so dense that it leaves a mark.
I truly believe that this book has something for every person regardless of whether they are into poetry or not, some poems are deep, some are dark. The book holds on to the realities of life & that’s the reason everyone will connect to it.
It’s rare to across such a book these days. I wholeheartedly recommend it to all of you.

Miniscules is a collection of unique micro tales and short stories that spread over various themes. From horror, to social issues to romance, these tales leave no topic unwritten about, no emotion unexplored.
🌟
It is difficult to express our feelings in very few words. Though the words are less, emotions are sharp. This reflects the writer's talent. Each of the lines has flames. Every trouble that the writer experienced in his life has been put in the mind of the reader.
🌟
The cover picture is so beautiful. I loved it very much. I think the cover picture has something to say. A red feather on the black surface. The black mark indicates the misfortune of the writer or of each one of us. At the moment when everything seems to be over, we will look into a ray of hope. That feather might have been a symbol of hope. But what is the red color for the rays of hope? Only the writer can say the real reason. But one can even guess. And that's probably the origin of the hope was from the pain that the people in her own gave to her.
🌟
Overall it is good and easy to read. As a debut work she did a fantastic job.

Minuscules when less is more .... the collection of micro tales and poetry's in the form of some deeper meaning. That unique inclination when a peruser who is an untouchable gets the chance to comprehend the existence occasions of the characters made by the writer or the occasions from the writer's life is splendidly displayed in this book. The book is a decent amalgamation of each conceivable human feeling in the arrangement of a fast in and out ballad and minor stories. Like each coin has opposite sides, each episode in one's life has a darker side as well. Such feelings are additionally all around pleasantly depicted. The author, with her lines and insights can associate with the perusers.

The contemplation behind every poetry and microtale is so important and contacting. The creator has put together her depiction with respect to subjects like relationship, love, family, contempt, misuse, repulsiveness and so on.

The cover picture of the book is a red shaded single quill on a dim dark ground which is unique yet amazing. As the spread legitimizes ,the issue inside additionally has some dim substance, some genuine and severe truth of our life and society..

One thing that’s very new in this book which is and bunch of poems are together to form beautiful thoughts. The writing style is simple, eloquent and described beautifully. Most of the poem or tales I found has some pain , agony and in the mode of betrayal form . The positive, optimistic way are hardly mentioned in the book and that’s some sort of disappointment for me. The diverse subjects that this book contacts in a touchy yet genuine way influenced me to revere it. You could tell that the creator was cautious with her words and ensured she didn't alarm you or make you feel overpower, simply made a point to express her contemplation in a fair way that you can acknowledge and identify with without feeling like it's excessively.

Overall, the book is fantastic read! I would totally recommend for all short story lovers. Priyanka Bhatt has really jotted down some beautiful collection of tales which is just so good to be felt.

Genre : Micro Tales /Poetry

Only Time Will Tell, What Time Holds. You don't need to know anymore What it is.

The Plot
Minuscules is a collection of unique micro tales and short stories that are spread over various themes. From horror to social issues to romance, these tales leave no topic unwritten about, no emotion unexplored. Though told with brevity, the impact of these stories can be more lingering than that of novels. To-the-point, poignant, relatable - this micro fiction book can be read by anyone in today’s time - a teenager and an adult alike. Its varied range of themes is the cherry on the cake.

Minuscules is a book that is sure to bring a smile to your face and tears to your eyes – and stay with you for a very long time.

Getting stuck is a common thing , it doesn't need sympathy from others it need empathy for oneself.

My Views
Books can be many things as much as you want to shape it. First the cover of the book is so good, representing a red feather in the black background. The debut novel of Priyanka Bhatt content many micro tales explaining many emotions you can relate to. Words have the power to feel certain emotions to make us realise what is writer wants to tell us. These stories make you realise life is not as easy as it seems until you going to make effort towards it. Every small things we left or avoid, how much value these things have the author wants to tell us by her small stories.

When I look at the birds , I think of their ability to soar high. I wish I had wings. You've a pen instead, God replies.

Writer select wide range of theme to explain her readers why micro tales are so important. Words are the power to teach many things without even struggle for it. This book make me smile, sad, excited, horrified, optimistic and many more.

Don’t leave me the way you leave others. Some things are permanent indeed. Like love, like regret. And trust me honey, I’ll be your both.

Book - Minuscules
Author Priyanka Bhatt
Genre- Musings and Microtales
Publisher Notion Press

The reader's attention gets grabbed by the contrasting red quill on the black cover of the book.It subtly hints to the poignancy of the creatives inside it's cover.
The book has an array of emotions displayed in the form of tales or verses.
It either tells us the grief, happiness, tragic events or a healing emotion of a bruised soul sometimes felt or seen by tge author.
The small verses touch us with it's crisp and simple depiction of human emotions .There is a surprise element the way these lines are expressed. For example "Alive" - "Stood in front of the mirror. Withered and dry, I looked pale. Only my eyes glistened. I knew I was still alive." - A striking way of depicting how few words have the maximum impact proving author's lines true that "Less is more".. yes a withered look ,a drooping soul finds life in their eyes and feels grateful of being alive.
"When two opposites are placed together, it is known as an oxymoron. Like ‘Happily Married?’" these lines from 'Oxymoron' hit you hard of a love less married life.
Infact all short verses catch our soul with uts variety of appeal decked with different emotions.
Now the microtales - Fast paced, subtle depicting all emotionsof love, despair, lonliness, societal pressure and rejection on women ,agonies of childhood abuse, heartbreak, broken families all ate covered .The language is simple, error free ,style is lucid .Taking the author on a ride of a roller coaster of emotions.
The pain of a departed soul, the spookiness runs a chill in our nerves ,yet it touches the emotional mind.
Tales like 'Aliyah','Feet','priyority','Stuck",'Rape','Love Candies' - and many more touch every bit of our lives ,inspires us,asks us to express.
Such brautiful expressions indeed inspire us and make us stay glued to the book.
A must read for all.The book is "more" much more to all of us nothing is "less" about it.

As the blurb suggests, Miniscules consists of micro tales and short stories of very diverse themes. From the pain of heartbreak to solitude to spooky tales about dead sister whose voice you can still hear. I am a firm believer of the power that words have.

They have the power to shape you, change you, lift you up and also break you down. The different themes that this book touches in a sensitive yet real way made me adore it. You could tell that the author was careful with her words and made sure she didn't scare you or make you feel overwhelm, just made sure to express her thoughts in an honest way that you can appreciate and relate to without feeling like it's too much.

The writing style is simple, way too simple for my taste for I like to get challenged. When I read a poem, I want to be able to interpret in different ways, to analyse the theme that's lying underneath, to get curious about the metaphors the poet has used. In short, I like old school poetry. But I get that not all people like that and it's completely fine. I actually like that people are keeping poetry alive in the form of micro tales and I just wanted to point out my love for old school poetry to make it clear that even though this new age poetry is not my cup of tea, I enjoyed this book despite of that fact because I think it has potential to make you feel things and that's what poetry is supposed to do, it's supposed to make you feel different emotions and this book delivers what it promises.

I liked the different themes and some poems really made my heart flutter, I wish I could've said that for all the poems but that's not the case and that's completely fine.

Just because I didn't enjoy all of them, doesn't mean you won't. In fact I'm pretty sure people will adore this book as it has something for everyone.

The mini tales are worthy enough to be turned into mini standalone movies. I end this review by 2 verses from the book read and ponder.

“Art is a natural way of healing, it gives us the key to freedom. Where we like birds, can travel far without any constraints. I have always believed that anyform of art brings joy, it carries an essence of beauty”

“He drank the most expensive wine,
Climbed the steepest mountain,
Swam the deepest ocean,
Visited the remotest place,
The prisoner experienced everything in confinement,
Who said books are boring”

🔸This book is Author's debut book.

🔸 It contains some 4 or 5 liners mini short stories and some short stories.

🔸Some of the mini short stories are good but most of them are not meaningful.

🔸 It's a light book which you can read during the post hangover of some other novels to release your stress.

🔸I started reading it after finishing 'I am Malala' and it only took me one day to finish it.

🔸 The cover of the book is amazing. This is the only thing I loved about this book. I have a thing for simple things, and the cover is exactly like that, simple but gorgeous.

🔸 This book is a giveaway prize I won, but if you ask me, honestly, I will never invest my money to buy a book like this. And Obviously I am not recommending any of you to buy this.

🔸 Every people has struggle of their own, every people has to fight their own battle. A poor farmer also fights his problems but he doesn't have the chance to show off, because if he starts showing off his problems then who would feed us?? It's good that you're fighting your own battle, you have experienced a lot in your life, I appreciate you for that, but what's the point of describing whole of your struggles, problems and sacrifices in three pages of "About Author"?! What's the point of Seeking sympathy like that at the starting of the book?!

🔸I may sound a little harsh, but am being 100% honest with myself. The things which I felt about this book I wrote same to same. Because I don't want any other people to get frustrated or disgusted like me. I hope you all will understand that.

Minuscules. .
.
If I have to quote my favourite line, I’d have to write down the entire book. Least to say, this was a fabulous read on a very Mondayish Tuesday. .
.
Minuscules is a pretty little book that hides beautiful, dark and also thoughtful messages within its pages. This book of micro tales and short stories is spine chilling and captivating. When a page of few lines can raise hair on your neck, imagine what an entire book would do. Irrespective of being a small read, this book boldly speaks about mental health, crime, violence and also pain. There are few shades of romance coveted gently within the page folds. The stories are crisp and to the point. The author has done a splendid job in speaking her heart out when it comes to feelings and various norms of society. .
.
This was such a refreshing read! I could not put it down and finished reading in just an hour. They say simplicity often brings out the best of everything. This book sets a perfect example of how only a few words can keep the readers enraptured and strikes a chord deep within them. .
.
Priyanka Bhatt is a budding writer and with this book in tow, there’s no stopping her. She’s witty, genius and has a wonderful way with words. .
.
I would rate this book 4.5/5.

Priyanka Bhatt’s ‘Minuscules : when less is more’ is a beautifully written work filled with several micro tales and short stories. These tales and stories are based on various themes. Some of them are beautiful romantic tales, while some others gives you a hair-raising creepy feel. Some tales have happy emotions while a few others depicts pain. From stories ranging from love, betrayal, horror to societal norms, there are no topics that is unexplored by the author. Though the tales are tiny, written in 3-4 lines, it did not fail to make an impact on me. Here are some of my favorite microtales from the book-

"The heavy makeup

hid all the bruises instantly.

Only her eyes spoiled the game."

"He loves painting.

Instead of brushes,

he used a knife to draw on my back.

‘Your scars, my art,’ he called them."

"I wanted to claim the sky.

Soar high, above the clouds.

Now, a pilot just fulfils

the same dream of others."

These microtales and short stories are written in simple language, with easy words and could be easily understood. This book is apt for anybody, of any age. With a voice so pleasant, the author has poured all her heart out, all her experiences and hidden thoughts through her writings. The various social issues talked about can touch your heart, while some tales can be pretty disturbing as well. Surely, the narration is perfect that it has the capacity to make an impression on you. Once you pick up this book, it would be difficult for you to put it down because every tale and every story is so engaging. Honestly, I am impressed with the writing style of the author and definitely looking forward to read more of her works. I guess I am growing a fondness towards this new ‘ttt’ format of writing. This book is definitely a thumbs up for me.

Minuscules : when less is more, authored by Priyanka Batt is a collection of musings, microtales and short stories that speak of hope, happiness, pain and many unvoiced emotions that fills the reader with powerful feelings.

The language employed by the author is simple yet admirable and she has left spaces for the readers to interpret. The revelations at the end of almost every stories and microtales makes it a worthy - page turner. They are cute, cheesy, meaningful, touching, though provoking and hard hitting, most of which deal with the current situations of the society.
The about the author section too got me, for it was hardly formal, unlike many other books. Reading it, the author felt my an acquaintance, rather than a person who holds the control over the book.

Apart from the fact that the microtales seemed to get repetitive towards the end, describing the similar incidents over and over again, I really enjoyed reading the book.
A simple yet impactful read, it is a stess buster that takes you in a roller coaster of emotions.

First of all let me start by appreciating the cover. Its simple yet elegant and classy. As the cover justifies ,the matter inside also has some dark content, some real and brutal truth of our life and society.

The author has quoted some micro tales and short stories. While some of them may make you emotional at times yet some others may leave you in a shock. I liked the fact that how unpredictable each and every tale or story was. Each and every page will provide you with something new.

You can find all the emotions spread across different pages in the book. There is romance, pain, horror and it also puts light on various social issues.Reading this book alone at night can give you a little bit of spine-chilling experience with its creepiness and it may also be quite relatable if you can catch the emotions expressed and if you have also went through those kind of painful experiences in your life.

I really liked this book and will recommend this one to everybody. And yes, it has an appropriate title " MINUSCULES : When less is More" as it really gives you much much more in those tiny tales and stories.
