2.5 stars. I really wanted to like this book. In all honesty the title confused me. I was expecting this book to be about our FMC Elise and Apollo but to be honest there weren’t just that many scenes with Apollo. It’s was like they meet insta love/lust and then exit Apollo. I felt there was way more chemistry between the FMC and Hades, I’m just really not sure what is going on.

Elise, part time photographer, full time monster hunter trainee, comes from a family gifted by Zeus to protect humanity. She isn’t immortal but she does have 3 lives...a lot of good that is going to do her, since all before her have used all theirs up and she is the last of her family. Heracles is her trainer but apparently forbidden to get involved in any way other than that.

There really wasn’t enough backstory or explanation as to why gods started showing up all over Chicago or why Death “X” just started offing people before their time. So Elise goes out to fight for humans and Heracles is all you can do it! You have to do it. It’s you or nothing. Meanwhile every other god who shows up is like No you can’t do this, he’s going to kill you and you’ll never come back... ummm ok. Apparently there is a plot here that I am completely missing. If I was her I’d be flipping them all the bird and thieving Apollo’s Ducati and never looking back. There was a semi interesting meeting with the fates that told us...absolutely nothing. I honestly am just sitting here thinking “ it’s over already?” “Where is the rest of this book explaining what is going on?” I honestly cannot tell you where this is headed...

Attention Shoppers: HoT MeSs on aisle 3..... I repeat: HoT MeSs on aisle 3

Ok.....
Where O where do I start....
We have Elyse, who is just a big mess...seriously...she is....
She’s a 22 girl, too TSTL at times for me to call a woman...
A girl who’s life supposedly revolves around killing monsters, I’m guessing are from the Greek pantheon, ( not enough info or backstory to know and I seriously doubt one lone family was supposed to cover all the different monsters than can exist from all the different pantheons) I mean seriously there could and should be more to this, their should be a whole network of informants and history and info out there to pull on because seriously his sorta thing shouldn’t ever be dealt with by brute strength alone .... Right ?
I mean ok, sure as readers of PNR we have to go in suspending plenty of belief,I mean come on, if you really love 💕 paranormal romance you know that going in, like nerds and their comic books or anyone into superheroes but even the quite “superhero’s” know you don’t just rush in w/muscles and might and hope to win the fight....
Sadly ?
No one has told Elyse that.....
This girl trains, supposedly takes pictures occasionally to pay her bills and trains some more and basically that’s it...
I guess Zeus is willing to give you a couple of extra lives if you get killed for him and extra strength etc. but no money to support yourself .... yeah.... right ... that seems fair ?
Anyway you start off wanting to like Elyse ( or I did ) but honestly there isn’t much here... not much in the way of world building or backstory , only that her whole family is dead, can’t let to have didn’t in vain, yada, yada...
Hercules was more background scenery than any thing else,Daniel’s mentor from “Karate Kid”, was his best friend, worlds best father and the best life coach ever created compared to Hercules... Hercules is basically as a prop, one minute pushing her to train soo she won’t die , next minute eating fruit 🍉 🍎 🍌 loops and saying “not my problem”...
Herc is only there to train nothing more, which makes him apathetic but also about as useful as the other two males in the story...
Hades and Apollo are sexy at the best and more or less useless cowards on average.... both mainly think with their pants 👖 when around Elyse and run when the odd bit of blood is able to actually make up to their big brains 🧠 away from their little ones...
Both Hades and Apollo HATE Mount Olympus with a passion and are terrified scared lil boys when around Elyse because they both fear Zeus will find out and send them there...
Personally I like some alpha in my men,and these two spent more time running from Elyse than just about anything else, and it was pathetic and sad...
One minute your in the middle of a hot intense moment between say her and Hades next he gets scared and runs off leaving her naked in a police academy supply room and Apollo was worse .... under a bridge outside of Chicago....
Supposedly Elyse thinks she has to “kill” X, X is supposedly death itself and is running amok and “only she can stop it”,
Cue eye roll, do we know why ? Or who ? Are anything pertinent about it ? No, no we do not... all we know is it can kill her true dead and No passing go and getting another life... but does this stop Elyse ? Does she research ? Or does she go off half cocked in full on TSTL mode bound and determined to get killed by “X” ,soo stupidly and foolishly determined the only to stop her if for one of her lovers to kill her... you know soo at least this way sh3 comes back ?
Dear lord, she was beyond TSTL territory here.....
The one who stops her by killing her runs off to have a pity party and the other takes her home cleans her up and waits til he can’t take it any more and runs off to get drunk 😵....
Seriously ? WhT the heck ? Right ?
Then, then when she finally come to she goes off to work angry at her lovers, coz self awareness is for sissies I guess or something and later that day accepts a date from a neighbor she has no reL interest in....
Yeah, that’s what you do right ? Push one of your lovers to kill you to “save your life”, then the next day you just go to work then on a date....
Oooooo Kay....
I really like the idea 💡 behind this story, but if your gonna do it, it needs fully fleshed out characters, some world 🌎 building, more backstory and characters who are trying to get more from each other than just sex and a main character who is self aware and has brains to go with her brawn...
Would I recommend this ? No.... there’s nothing here really and the h has more brawn and “courage” than common sense or any sense of self-preservation and the two love interests are more whiny cowards than anything else...

What happens when a human warrior woman, fated to keep humanity safe from unknown evil finds herself falling in lust and love with the gods who bring the very evil she is sworn to destroy?

APOLLO IS MINE by Mila Young steams with passion, tension and did I mention steamy passions? Elyse is one fierce warrior, doing the job her family was fated to do, or as she thought, cursed. When her libido and heart get in the way, she has some pretty tough decisions to make, if she survives…

Hot gods, even hotter steam, this fantasy reverse harem has action, action and more action! Pass the ice water, please…

This was an interesting start to a RH series. The Greek history connection was a nice change and the storyline with Elyse being a protector of human species, granted powers to prto3ct them by Zeus was a fascinating concept. Elyse was a bit hardheaded annoying and whiny but I managed to overlook it. The romance for almost all was instant and I’m not gonna lie some of the interactions were beyond cheesy and I guess a little unbelievable. I don’t know it was hard to see these hardened old as times Gods fall at Elyse’s feet. I’m interested to see where the series is going but it’s clear that the big bad of the series will be Death. Still not sure how he can be eliminated or killed when he is essentially a part of Hades but I guess time will tell. Since this book more or less featured only Apollo and Hades I’m looking forward to more from Ares and Poseidon in the next one. I saw people complaining about a cliffhanger and there is literally nothing I hate and fear more than a cliffhanger but this ending didn’t really hit me with intense need like most do, sure there’s some intrigue but I’m not going to die if I don’t pick up the next one immediately. Guess I’m not that attached, we’ll see if that changes with the next one!

You think you know the Greek Gods? Hold on tight because these gods are hotter than hot and they all want Elyse. She's the last of her family imbued with the power of Zeus and her role is to protect innocent humans. Apollo is already on Earth but gets in over his head when he engages with Elyse.
When Hades arrives on Earth, all hell breaks loose. Death (known as X) separates from Hades and goes on a rampage. Elyse knows it's her destiny to fight and *fingers crossed* stop X but she's only got three lives. Apollo and Hades both protect her as best as they can, both inside the bedroom and out. Can she stop X from sucking souls or will she die like the rest of her family?

WOW! What a great book! This was my first reverse harem book and I have to say, I quite enjoyed it. Who says men get to have all the fun? Steamy, sexy with good world building. I can't wait to see what happens when Poseidon and Ares enter the fray!

Please not again!

If you are going to take great mythical characters, or gods in this case, and make them run around doing stupid things or cowardly things, at least give us a backstory of why the hell they are doing so. I want to say the premise of this book was good but I don't think that will be true. It might have been good if it was at least well threshed out. Instead we get a story that solely relied on mythical gods-name-dropping to make it slightly interesting. Unfortunately all the Greek and Roman gods mentioned in this book couldn't help the non-existent premise nor the resultant poor execution of the story itself.

Apollo is Mine is the first book in the Gods and Monsters series by Mila Young.

Elyse’s story is one of strength, adventure, surprising twists and Gods who she’ll open her heart to. The first book in this series has a brilliant storyline with Greek Gods who have been well written.

I highly recommend Apollo is Mine, and I’m looking forward to the following books in the series.

Insta-Lust and Minimal Character Development

I guess it is what it says on the blurb but don't expect to get to know any of the characters very well. Take what you know about Greek gods and add some add contemporary mannerisms. Put a pseudo Mary Sue, perfect but temporarily flawed and freaking nearly textbook bipolar in their path. Accept that she's essentially a light switch flicking between lust and some nebulous righteous rage. Insert a few seriously hasty, emotionless sex scenes, unrealistic abilities in getting leather pants off OVER combat boots and a multi-orgasmic heroine who seems to just need a swift breeze past her lady garden for her to go off like a bottle rocket.

I was really into this in the beginning when we were getting a look into the world and getting to know our main character. But, when the sexy stuff started happening I found I was bored. This is a harem romance, which I haven't really read these kinds of romances before besides harem manga which is pretty different. I felt because there was so much sex I was like, OK can we get back to the story now?. I also didn't feel invested in anyone's relationship, because it was mostly physical.

Not sure if I will check out the rest of the series or not. It was a quick and easy read, I just didn't feel invested in the end.

If you like lots of sex and Greek gods in modern day then this may be the book for you!

During the resent year, I have been really interested in Greek Mythology and read a lot of books regarding this subject.

I really wanted to like this book. However, I have to be honest. It was nothing what I expected.

I didn't like the main character at all. There where something in her attitude and way if words that didn't connect with me. Okay, in here defence, her life wasn't easy and you might not be a sunshine if you go through things are going through.
I wasn't either the biggest fans of the gods and how they where portrayed in this book.

Greek gods are interesting and have a lot of powerful and epic fights. In this book the gods where more focused on their undenying and crisis regarding the main character. It didn't feel interesting. It felt that the plot didn't go forward regarding their enemy. It was more of the wierd feelings between the the main character, Apollo and Hades.

I'm glad that I read the first book, but will not continue to read this series.

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Apollo is Mine is the first book in the Harem of the Gods series by Mila Young. This is the first book I have read from Mila, but it certainly won't be my last. I think you guys all know by now that I am a sucker for anything greek mythology related. And when you combine that with my love for a swoony romance, well, you pretty much have a Michelle approved hit on your hands. Which is exactly what I found reading Apollo is Mine. I loved this novel and I am already itching for the next book in the series.

The set up of the series is super interesting to me. This book is set in modern times. Zeus has given Elyse Lowe and her whole family line some of the Gods abilities. They are given those abilities to help fight monsters and demons on earth. Elyse is the last remaining member of her family, so the task of fighting all of these monsters now falls on her shoulders. That is such a huge responsibility, I can't even fathom it. But Elyse does not back down from anyone or anything (a bit of her hubris perhaps?) but she is a warrior through and through. Zeus appoints Heracles to be her trainer. Honestly, he is the one t character that surprised me the most. We meet lots of Gods in this story and I expected to like all of them, but I really expected to love Heracles. I mean, he is the one that was in Elyse's corner first. But he was kind of disappointing to me. I felt a huge disconnect from him. But luckily, he is the only character that I felt that disconnect from.

We get to meet Hades, Apollo, Ares and Zeus (momentarily) in Apollo is Mine. And actually, I have listed them in my order of preference. I seriously love Mila Young's Hades. He is so intense and he really matches Elyse well. I also love Apollo, but that's not surprising because he is an easier character to love. I didnt' really get to know Ares much in this one, so my opinion on him is still to come, but I am the most interested in seeing more Hades in the next book. (And Poseidon)

The coolest part of this novel is the Death storyline. I can't wait to see how that plays into the larger plot of the series. Bottom line- if you are a fan of Greek mythology and of a sexy romance featuring a kick butt warrior heroine and lots of Greek Gods (literally) then this is going to be great series for you to check out. I loved the first book and I am super excited to read book two!

(DISCLAIMER: This review is based on my opinion only.)

Elyse has been trained to fight monsters, to protect mankind from legendary monsters. She has never fallen in love, until she meets Apollo. But he isn’t the only god on Earth, Hades captures her attention too, and with him comes a deadly shadow that kills where it lurks.

I like that we get 3 different POVs (usually I’m not a fan of so many POVs), but we get to get into their heads to see how each character handles what is going on.

Imagine Shadow Hunters combined with the Greek gods plus a ton of steamy scenes.

I love that Elyse is a strong heroine, she’s a fighter and she’s determined. She knows what she needs to do and gets it done. She doesn’t stop until the job is done. I personally was a fan of Hades.

This book was sexy, dangerous and seductive, like the Greek gods that appear in this book. I also liked that we were slowly introduced to each different god. It was engaging, easy to grasp and fun to read. I didn’t expect to finish this book so quickly and wanted to read more!

The writing style, concept and story was captivating as well!

First in series and first read by this author.

I love books about mythology and this one is chocked full... with little interesting twists on the myths, that I found intriguing and amusing. the fact that the reverse harem applicants were all God’s tickeled me!

I have to say that hades is fab... the ultimate bad boy with a soft gooey centre.... wronged by love and heartbroken over his failed love with Persephone, decides to take a holiday from hell and ends up meeting Elyse Lowe... a human blessed by his brother Zeus... her family were the protectors of the humans... now only Elyse is left. Trained by the neutral Heracles to battle the mythical beasties that plague her day to day life... although in this book she isn’t battling a mythical beastie but Death itself!
Apollo has never been a favourite of mine... for me he is always the bad guy in the books I’ve read.. so finding him in these pages as a biker boy with a tender soul was both strange and pleasing... he’s a tender hearted little cherub who tries to fight his insta lust/love from Elyse....RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!
I really enjoyed the fact that the author went full on with the feels and lust in this book...the pace was suited to the book and well written... this one ain’t a slow burn 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I will be continuing with this series as I really enjoyed this book. With so many gods in the mix it making very interesting reading and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I have to admit that the world of RH is still pretty new to me. I finished the Underland series and really loved that one and yesterday I read the first Royal Trials book and enjoyed that one too. But, I felt like I wanted to read another one now, so I picked this one up.

Let me be honest: Plot wise this book is by far the weaker of the three series I've read. There is some plot woven into this, but at the moment it's hard to see where it will be going and what purpose it actually serves. It feels like in this book the very thin plot actually is just there to serve the sex scenes and the Harem forming very quickly, based on insta-love and insta-lust.

The characters involved, Elise, Apollo, Hades and in a way also Hercules, are not very developed. Apart from their Godly traits or the destiny pushed on their shoulders, they don't really seem to have a very impressive or complicated personality. But hey, they're all muscled, handsome and entertaining and sometimes that's all a reader wants, right?

For now, this book was amusing and the kind of read I wanted. But, I'd classify it truly as a guilty pleasure. The sex scenes are nice and well written, but the characters and the plot are weak and thin. I'll certainly pick up the second book at some point, but it's not that I really need and want to know what happens next. It's more that I'm sure the second book will be a nice and easy read on a very bad day when I can't concentrate on anything too serious or dramatic.

This had a lot of potential and very good ideas. I think you can always count on the Greek pantheon to have fun with.

I think what hindered the story was that the story didn't know what it wanted to be. It kept contradicting itself in places, for example Heracles stating that this isn't his fight to Elyse at the beginning, and then her acting surprised that he didn't want to fight with her towards the middle of the book. Or establishing that the gods have interfered with Elyse's family before via Hermes, and her then wondering if her family have ever come across the gods and their powerful connections. It was just a constant loop of contradiction and acting surprised over information that she already established.

This story also suffered from exposition dump and lack of character motivation. A lot of the decisions made was for plot movement instead of development. This made it very hard for me care about any of the characters.

I'm torn about whether to continue with this series. A part of me wonders how much of these flaws were because it's essentially the first episode in the series, and therefore incomplete because it continues. But another wonders whether it'll get better at all.

Overall, this is a series that shouldn't be carefully scrutinized and should be superficially enjoyed if you like Greek mythology.

Apollo, and Hades, and Ares! Oh My!

If you like books with a kick-ass, take no shit FMC, then this is for you! If you like hot, sexy, addictive men, then this is for you! If you like steamy scenes that get your heart racing, then this is for you!

Almighty Zeus!

There are so many things I like in this book, from the intrigue to find out what is happening with the gods, to great fight scenes where Elyse doesn't back down. We have flashback learning moments from Elyse, so we get a glimpse into the world she grew up in. We have exclamations of "Almighty Zeus" rather than "Oh God", which is hilarious. I also love when Heracles trying to be hip and cool with the use of 'Hashtag'. So many laughs!

I cannot wait to see what happens in Poseidon is Mine, as we have the inclusion of more Olympic gods!

Superhero

This is a great reverse harem story. Never imagined a reverse harem of gods because their egos are so huge, but so far it's kind of working. It will be interesting to see how it balances out.

Elyse is a superhero in my book. Taught from childhood to be a warrior, she doesn't have much of a life. I like her. I would like to see more of her human side and I think she would like that too. The gods are really causing havoc in her life. I like that she sees the good in people and the gods. Pretty cool story.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Incredible start to this new series. We get a strong female lead that is training to get better after losing all her family. Struggling with that some Gods pop up bringing confusion, chaos, and something even worse. I enjoyed the multiple viewpoints as it gives the story a little more depth and insight. The Gods are just awesome and well written. I have to say if you like the genre you have to read it. I loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

This is a great book. I have had it on my TBR list for awhile now and can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Elyse is the last of her line who has been charged with protecting humans from Monsters and Gods. Her greatest challenge has yet to come. She will need help. She also runs into some Gods that has an undeniably connection.

Well this book was up and down for me. I really liked how it started but I'm not sure about the romance element of the story. I often felt that the romance took away from the story and it was all very instant. I would have like more seduction and more character development. I liked the idea of the Gods and the mythical creatures all mixed with the modern world. The story line had a Van Helsing feel to a point. The Lowe family is the only family which can protect the humans. I really like the character X, I've never had death made into this sort of creature and I like the uniqueness from that. I will continue.
