Could Sgt Seavers's mission kill him?Yes. Yes, it could.

Sgt Seavers of the Orphan Corps is having a run of bad luck. First, he gets in a fight with three marines while on a space station. Second, he wins that fight. And now, after learning he was being considered for officer candidate training, he is informed of his penance.

Can Seavers handle a resentful platoon of Marines? Can he do it while delivering medical aid to a suspicious colony of terraformers?

To get back his chance at officer candidate training, he’ll do his best. Or die trying.

If you love a good military adventure, crossed with sci-fi worthy of Andre Norton and Asimov, then Rescue on Gimhae is the story you’re looking for.

Strap in, hang on. The journey begins now.

Well written military scfi.

I found this book as I do many, in the free or .99 cent bin, as it were. I am always encouraged to find new (to me) writers that don't use crude language! Kudos to the author for that!!! The story, although short, was again, well written, full of well thought out characters, lots oof good action, and also something I find lacking in so many writers, a good mix of honorable human emotion. The kind that can lead some to want to emulate the same. Well done. I read this story in the matter of a quick afternoon, and im a slow reader, but it kept me engaged the entire time.

Fun Read.

I was looking for a fun read to wash my eyes from the disappointment of two books not worth finishing and I found it here. Too short but that’s a rather regular complaint and I understand the weariness of reading 10 books of Derek because that exists too. This has a beginning, middle and end, character development and a plot. Needs an editor to be wonderful so this is just a good read.

Smart blend of history and Sci Fi

The Marines Sound real in their attitudes and gallows humor and interactions. I am looking forward to more stories of the orphan Corp of Hospitaliersr. Looking forward to the development of concept.
I’d recommend this to any military history/historical fiction fan.

The more I read about the Orphan Corps, the more I love it which leads me to read more about it. The characters are very realistic and entertaining. It’s a different world in each story but it’s easy to visualize them. Author, Earl T. Roske has a wonderful imagination and applies it well to this series. I highly recommend it. Now, I’m off to get book 2. Enjoy!

Rescue on Gimhae

A relatively short story that serves as introduction to the Orphan Corps. Taking inspiration from the Knights Hospitaller. The Orphan Corps are an autonomous Hospitaller organisation who take their mandate as offering aid and relief across the galaxy unimpeded by political constraints or affiliations.

Refreshing

What a novel idea talk softly and carry a big stick be for sure medics (extremely well trained ones) but for sure combat soldiers (extremely well trained ones to boot) give me some more. Thank you Earl T Roske

Short and Sweet

I usually don't read short stories, but I'm glad that I read this one. Many interesting ideas about the issues surrounding the colonization of the galaxy by humans were presented. I hope that future books will flesh them out

Beautiful little story

Worthwhile on KU. I like the premise of soldiers helping people in difficult situations. Set in a sci-fi environment all the better.

I read the first 3 books of Stories of the Orphan Corps amd hope to read the rest. The premise that orphans can be wanted, loved, cared for, trained and have a career and family and are the heroes is unlike a lot of stories with orphans. The books are a little up and down on the editing, but mostly done well.

I think it would be a good series for teenagers, especially boys. The Orphan Corps - Aid, Comfort, Defend. Military but not so heavy on that front that the story gets lost in a battle. is well-written, not too long for the nature of the sotry, which

I am not a big fan of Military Science Fiction, but Earl T. Roske's Orphan Corps series has me totally hooked. I like how this books are written with a natural authority when it comes to military terms and jargon, while at the same time delivering characters who do not fit the tired mould of most solder space soldiers. Rescue on Gimhae is a great introduction, but each book that follows gets better and better.
