I was a bit vary when I realized who the couple was. Mostly because the heroine did not leave me with the best impression in the first two books. Guess, there is also sympathy and antipathy with fictional characters. So, instead to read the book as soon as it was out, like usually. I waited and read some review. Now, I have finally read it and sadly I still don't like Jules very much. She was a freaking hot mess through pretty much the complete book.
I really liked Kai. He's such a great guy. I loved how very aware he was of his feelings and how he read Jules so well. Yes, sure he did not see all of her. But honestly, he understood her much better than she did herself.
To me, there never was "Puppy Love". That guy is a real man, showing how he felt the way he wanted to. Without caring that others pitied him for it. Because that's the kind of guy he was and quite honestly there was and is nothing to pity him for. There should be more heros like him. I also loved how he turned her down and did not let her use him. That was absolutely the correct choice. Had he not done that, I'm sure she would have detest him later on.
Personally, I never was a big fan of Jules. Not because she cleary was a workaholic. It's just that how she acted like she didn't realized how Kai felt, always felt "fake" to me. The flashbacks proofed me right. I know I'm in the minority regarding Jules. But for me Jules spend way too much time playing ostrich (aka burrying her head in the sand). I mean if her Ex didn't do what he did, she would have gone through with the wedding! Seriously, it boggles my mind.
Don't get me wrong, I understand being insecure. I'm often insecure as well. But she acted like it's shameful and embarassing. She didn't even gave people a chance to get to know her. Always so extremely fixated on controlling every aspect of her live. I firmly believe that it is neccessary and healthy to be honest to oneself and to own up to ones feelings. To own what one is and what one feels. It took her way too freaking long to get there. Actually it made me pity her. Which is a shame, because I guess Jessica wanted us to see her as someone that has strength.
Oh, and I hope Jule's Ex, aka the bastard, died a slow, painful and ugly death.
So this book gets three stars because of Kai and the other team members. I still feel that Kai deserved someone just as devoted to him, and I'm not sure that Jules is that. I'm sure she loves him, but is it because of him, or because he gave her everything she wanted?
Either way, I can't wait for the next book in the series.
