I’ve got her in my sites, she’s not getting away

And I’m definitely not shooting blanks.

I'm just a simple small town country girl, haunted by Alpha Men who talk in my head 24 hours a day.

I knew I wanted to write when it became clear I couldn't be happy with just viewing other people's stories. I always wanted to rewrite them.

Like why did Jack have to die? Why couldn't Rose move her butt over? Because that was a huge piece of wood she was on, people.

Happy Endings should be fought for, but they should always happen. Mine might take some curves and twists, but they eventually get there.

Having published over fifty stories, it always feels surreal that this is my life. Hitting USA Today had me crying for days, but nothing is more special than hearing from readers that they loved one of my books.

I haven't read any of the other books in the Lucas Brothers series, but after reading about Black and his brothers and their mother, Ida Sue, I'm definitely going back for more. Black had been burned badly by a past relationship and the negativity of that bled into the new life he was trying to build when he moved back home. He went from detective to deputy because of a vindictive ex, his credit was shot, and he would never trust another woman again. The joke was on him because between a bee and a lawnmower, his life would never be the same. He didn't anticipate someone like Addie crashing into his life creating chaos and showing him what love really was.

The characters were fun, especially Black's mom. That lady was a hoot! Addie was a bit over-the-top and too immature at times, but overall she was almost as likeable as Black was. This story was funny and it was sexy and it definitely made me want more of the Lucas family.

When I started reading Cocked and Loaded it was the first book by Jordan Marie that I had ever had the pleasure of reading. I was prepared for the romance, but was happily surprised by the humour.

The Lucas' are a big, unique, family oriented bunch headed by Ida Sue, the quirky, undeniably eccentric matriarch.

Black is a deputy in his brother-in-law, the sheriffs office after leaving Dallas and his seriously crazy ex and moving back into the family home.

Addie is the Mayor's daughter who unintentionally attacks Black, gets him stung by a bee and then head butts him.

This was hardly what one would call a meet cute but it is a great start to the fabulous story that is Cocked and Loaded!

Explosive at times, tense at others and regularly giggle worthy this dual point of view story was a delight to read from start to finish.

Cocked and Loaded is well written with a wonderful flow throughout the whole, nicely paced story. The chapters are a nice length and told through Addie and Blacks point of view and each chapter is titled to let us know which character we are experiencing this journey through.

Jordan Marie has penned a romance that has a little bit of everything and it is wonderfully executed. It was well worth every one of the five stars that I have rated it.

Thank you to Jordan Marie and Social Butterfly PR for providing me with an advance copy of Cocked and Loaded. These are my honest thoughts.

4.5 Addie and Black Stars

This series is so good. I adore the Lucas Family and the banter between them is hilarious.
Black and Addie clash a lot but they fall hard for each other. Black has had to move home because of his crazy ex and the woman is truly CRAZY. Addie is just back Stateside after living abroad in Paris for three years. Addie is a really well written heroine. My heart ached for her sometimes but she is nothing if not resilient and strong.

There is lots of heat, hilarity, intriguing drama and some heartsore moments. I guessed the plot twist but I still thought it was very well executed. It was a hard to put this book down and I stayed up late reading - totally worth the lack of sleep though.
I cannot wait to read Blue's story.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Well, this story was crazy all over the place. And I enjoyed every part of it. Addie and Black... Those two was from the same pot and perfect for each other. Though, I have to say sometimes I wasn't sure if I should laugh my ass off or what with theirs and Crayon families antics. It's for sure one unique and colorful family. I can't wait for next book.

DNF at around 40% ? Could not stand the "heroine", this book tries to be hijinks-y with a harpy h. Honestly, the H was better off finding someone else.

Black Lucas is back in his home town of Mason after his previous girlfriend destroyed his life. He just wants to move on, and start fresh. And get away from crazy women. Adelle Harrington literally crashes into his life, and turns it on it's axis. She's stubborn, sassy, and opinionated- telling Black exactly what's on her mind. She is also the mayor's daughter. So she should be off limits. When Black's past comes back to haunt him, will Adelle get caught in the crossfire?

First, I haven't read the other Lucas Brothers books before this one. It IS a standalone, but I did miss some information from the Lucas family without having read the other books. But I loved this cover, and the blurb pulled me in.

The Lucas family is definitely different- the boys are all named after colors (Black, White, Grey, Blue, Cyan, & Green) and the girls are all named after flowers (Petal, marigold, CC?). Not having read the previous books I was not prepared for their names... Or their mom.

Both Black and Adelle had hot & cold moments. And Black's ex was full blown crazy and bled into his current life.

Black and Adelle's relationship moved quickly. (When it was hot, when it was cold it stopped).

But it was a good read. Adelle brought so much sass, and gave it to Black when he deserved it. Black was bone headed at times, and needed a swift kick in the rear. Overall I give the story 4⭐ out of 5⭐. I stayed up until 2am to finish the book.

We have ourselves another wonderful book in the Lucas Brothers series. This is Black Lucas the police detective and Addie the chef and oh yes, the mayor's daughter's tale.
Another funny sexy story filled with crazy siblings and an over sharing mom.
A case of mistaken identity and a funny meet cute puts Black and Addie face to face with fightin' words being used. Yes, there is certainly a fine line between love and hate and these two are walking that line! Yes, Addie may take some convincing to go out with this infuriating man but when his past rears its ugly head it is time to get down to business and show this town who has your back.
This family is funny, overbearing and just a delight to read!

A suivre donc !⠀

3 1/2 stars. Another humorous addition to the Lucas Brothers series. The meet cute between Black and Addie was a case of mistaken identity. On both of their parts. They did discover their true identities after a few chapters so it didn't drag on through the book.
Black has some serious trust issue from a previous relationship and decides to stay away from Addie. Which, of course does not work out. And here is where the book lost a star from me. The scene where he decides to give in and go to her left a horrible taste in my mouth. He was way too aggressive and forceful, making me wonder why the citizens in their town didn't help her. Sure Addie ultimately did consent, but the people who saw Black carrying her around while she was screaming didn't know that.
Overall a decent read, despite the above mentioned scene.

Recensione a cura di Morgana per Feel the Book

Voto 4,5

Consigliato.

recensione "a cura del blog Libri magnetici" by Meghan

I love a book that makes me laugh out loud and this one does not disappoint.

Black just may be my favourite Lucas brother but I say that with every new book I read in this series. They just get better and better each time.

Black and Addie are a great match for each other and their banter between each other just makes you keep turning the pages.

Highly recommend this one to all those that love a good romantic comedy

Can’t wait for the next one.

I love these books and I Love Ida Sue

What can I say?? This book had me hooked from the beginning. I am an Ida Sue girl and I love her. Now to the main characters. Black was a total Hottie in my mind and he just needed to find the one that fit him and his family. I loved the banter between him and Luka and of course his mother lol.
Now Addie was a sweetheart. I loved her character and how she never gave up her dreams or her family. I shed a few tears over her life and Oh My God her hair!!!! And of course the dog Kong you will understand when you read it hint hint. I have one more comment Ms Ida Sue’s theme song Don’t look now Mama’s got her boobs out. Nuff said lol

“Addie, I know you’re scared. I know that’s my fault. I know me going hot and cold has you gun shy, but I need you to believe in me here. I need you to believe in us.”

Black's life has completely changed, thanks to his psychotic ex-girlfriend. Goodbye job, home, dog and tranquility. His life built in Dallas no longer exists. At age thirty-one he returns to his mother's house in Mason. Having to start over, and still resenting for having abandoned his career as a detective, which was something he really liked, Black is not in a good time so to speak. Lost, aimless, with zero confidence in women thanks to his ex, being a cop in a town with no interesting events and close to his crazy family. Black is in hell.
And what about his family? His mother is completely crazy, naming the boys from a box of crayons and daughters from flowers. I do not think I've ever seen such creativity. The cow with dog complex was another surreal and completely hilarious thing.
While delivering some papers to the mayor's house, Black is literally run over by a half-naked blonde in a lawnmower. And after a great macho-feminist clash, a bee decides to end the fight. And Black leaves with the certainty that that blonde is trouble.
Addie has just arrived in Mason to visit her father after spend some time in France. When she returns to the country, she discovers that her father sold the old house and moved. And that’s how she ended up in town.
Black and Addie will not make the best first impressions. But with the passage of time and the approach of the two, they will eventually become friends. And much more. But Addie will not tell him that she is the daughter of the mayor, and that lie can put a damper on this fragile relationship with a man who is already suspicious of women. As the relationship progresses and the two enter into a routine, an imminent danger threatens to disrupt that union. What will the future hold for Addie and Black?
The book is completely funny. Black's family is crazy, strange but very welcoming. Black has his moments of indecision and lack of courage during the narrative, but I can understand his point of view. For a person who has lost everything because of a relationship, this doubt, this fear is justifiable.
Addie enters to the list of irritating protagonists that redeem themselves at the end. The whole scene of the mess at the police station and the fact that she slapped Black's face made me lose sympathy for the girl. Although young, she acts like a spoiled girl. Her nickname makes a lot of sense. She's a real Princess. An annoying one.
The mystery, the potential danger is interesting and secure the plot. The villain is predictable, but it does not mess up the story. It's a good book with cute and funny moments where love speaks louder, and a person hurt in the past, decides to take a chance to be happy again. I was curious about Blue and Meadow's book.

5 SMOOCHES!

As a fan of Jordan Marie's since she released her first book, it's a given that if she releases it, I will read it. Initially I was drawn to her intense and gritty MC romances, and I have loved every single one of them. Her writing never fails to move me, to shock me, to make me feel. So, when she made the leap to romantic comedies with this series, I was a bit surprised at first. But that surprise soon morphed into another level of appreciation for her writing abilities. As it turned out, Jordan Marie was a natural when it came to slap-stick style romantic comedies. With that first book, she upended everything I thought I knew about her talent, and I’ve been just as hooked on this side of her skill ever since.

Cocked and Loaded is the fourth book in the Lucas Brothers series—or the Crayon Gang, as her readers refer to this, um, “colorful” family. It’s Black’s turn in this book, and right from the start, I was stung with a sharp prick of old-school comedy when Addie crashes—literally—into his life. That was just the beginning. I laughed and smiled my way through this book at their antics and those of his family. Ida Sue, the matriarch of the family, was right there in the thick of it, butting into his business, uttering inappropriate sexual innuendos or offering one of her infamous, “all natural” remedies. Addie was the exactly what Black needed in a woman after the nightmare of his last relationship. She was smart and so sassy, and she didn’t hesitate to go toe-to-toe with him, giving as good as she got. Their chemistry sizzled in every single one of their interactions, from their witty back-and-forth banter to the heat of the moment.

Cocked and Loaded is another wholly entertaining addition to the Lucas Brothers series. Jordan Marie brought the heart and heat here and colored it with plenty of humor. It wouldn’t be a Jordan Marie novel, though, without a bit of angst and drama, and there was just enough here to make things very interesting. I devoured this book, smiling and laughing my way through it, and I’m already on the edge of my seat waiting for more. Five smooches from me for Cocked and Loaded by Jordan Marie!

This is one colorful series (pun intended). This is my fourth book in the 'Lucas Brothers' series. Author Jordan Marie not only comes up with colorful names for her characters, she weaves some laugh-out-loud dialogue. While 'Cocked and Loaded' can be read as a stanalone, its best to be read in order.

'Cocked and Loaded' is a romantic comedy with guaranteed happy ending. However, that happy ending doesn't come without bumps in the road.

Black was involved with the wrong woman and she is destroying his life. She created havoc in both his personal and work life. Black had to move back home to Mason Texas because he lost his position, credit, and his dog.

Back home, he should be as happy as his brothers. He's surrounded by family, friends, and is a Deputy in his hometown. Life should be good, the last thing he need is to repeat his mistake with another crazy woman. But he never expected her to literally crash into in police cruiser.

Adelle Harrington is a sassy, opionated, and stubborn woman and she has Black's number. She pushes every one of Black's buttons. She's also the new Mayor's daughter, which puts her on the off limits list. Only through miscommunication, she shows up at the station to give Black the business end of her mouth and none other than her father is there and hears everything.

Just lime any book, one or two conversations could fix every issue in this story. But just like life sometimes emotions are too high to consider listening. Aside, we would miss the hilarious and stressful situations that entertain the reader.

If your anything like me, I know you are desperate for more deets. However, your just going to have to read and enjoy as much as I did. I can't wait to start 'Knocking Boots' the fifth book in the series. Pull up a chair, grab some lemonade and enjoy the zany family from Mason Texas.

"He's so infuriating, I really want to slap him. At the same time, I'm only human-and a female human at that, one who hasn't even seen a man who clicked all her buttons at once. This guy does that and then some."

Another fun, flirty, hysterical frolic with the Lucas clan. I will never get enough of the zaniness of this family, especially Ida Sue, the matriarch. I've been waiting for Black Lucas' story for what seems like forever and wasn't even close to disappointed. I couldn't put it down from the first chapter where Black and Addie ignited like gas and a flame and swept me up and wouldn't let me go. They were absolutely entertaining as all get out. I loved the humor, heat, heart, and feels that this book was filled to the brim with!!

"She hangs up the phone and I'm left holding mine wishing she was still on the other side. She's definitely going to be trouble."

I can't forget to mention that while hysterical, hot, and entertaining, there was plenty of obstacles in this couple's path that made for some nail biting, kindle crunching moments. Besides the couple's push/pull, I was transfixed by the race against time to find the culprit in all kinds of messed up happenings. I'll never get tired of this series, I'm absolutely in love with it, and I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!

"Black isn't a man you can forget. He's a man that will wreck you, one that will haunt you forever. He's the kind you know you should stay away from, but you just can't."

5 Cocked and Loaded Stars

Cocked and Loaded is the forth book in the Lucas Brothers series. Black Lucas has just moved back to his home town of Mason after a very bad break up. He is not sure what he is going to do after losing his dream job because of his ex but he's happy enough working as a deputy for the time being until he sorts his head out. Adelle Harrington literally crashes into his life and although he wants peace, she brings chaos.

Black has some serious trust issue and wants to stay as far away from Adelle as possible. But life and circumstances have thrown together.

“Hate to break it to you boys, but those women you chase after with the tits the size of cantaloupes might look pretty right now, but one day those tits are going to be ankle warmers,” Mom mutters.

This was a crazy read but so good. The secondary characters like always with Jordan's book are so great and so enjoyable to read. A great installment to the series and I would highly recommend reading it.

Being run over by a lawn mower never felt so...right!!!
The hilarious Crayola Gang strikes again with Black Lucas... Oh Yeah... get ready for an extra-large dose of fun and pee-in-your-pants circumstances that will leave you rolling on the floor. This family is "like a tornado and hurricane of crazy all rolled into one big, huge bundle." Black meets his match in Addie, who is a feisty firecracker who always gives him a piece of her mind like Ida Sue and his sisters... and strangely loves it! Problem is that he was previously involved with a psychotic, toxic she-devil who totally messed him up... and TRUST is something he needs to rediscover on his own. A highly entertaining Romantic Comedy where each member of his insane family makes their appearance... leaving the readers giggling non-stop! 5 Mirth-Filled Stars for "Cocked And Loaded"... another great addition to this amusing series.

WOWZA! Man oh man do I need Black in my life! This guy is awesome. He's funny, smart, sexy and he carries a gun for a living. YASSS PLEASE! Seriously though this book was pretty good. I loved the constant banter and one liners between Black and Addie. They had me laughing and giggling the entire time. She's full of sass!!! Fiercely independent. He's alpha male and bossy. So you know how that turns out. It makes one hot as hell story!

This was a fun read and I really liked it a lot. I will definitely be catching up on the books with other family members because they are a hoot! Their Mom...OMG! I love her!!

Win! Win! Win!

I freaking flove this series. Now just to let everyone know that I might have to share with Addie but Black Horn Lucas is mine I called dibs on the day of the cover reveal!!!!!
The dynamics of this family is an amazing thing to read about if everyone could have a mom like Ida Sue the world would be such a happier place.
This series is full of laugh out loud moments, sexy alpha men, hot AF sex scenes and a little angst thrown in. I read this in one sitting and going to bed at 4:00 am and have no regrets this book is that good.
Highly recommend this book and series. Can't wait for the next installment and fingers crossed its Blue and Meadow's story hint, hint and wink.

I love Jordan Marie's crazy crayon family. Actually I think I like most of her work, this one wasn't my favorite however. Adelle started off being spunky but then she rolled over and let Black do whatever he wanted with her. Black well he really isn't my favorite of the Lucas family, I mean I love Grey and I loved White too, but I found that Black was really disrespectful, yes the other guys were bold and said some stuff that we would probably knock out if they were said to me, but I found Black more so. What saved it for me was Ida Sue, I mean how can you not love her.

Jordan Marie hit it out of the park with another crayon gang brother. Black was always a little mysterious and kind of a loner of the gang. His story was both steamy and heartfelt. I loved the way he loved his dog. I didn't like his ex-crazy girlfriend Linda but he was an awesome match for Addy. I loved this book and its dramatic and comical story line. Marie Jordan puts a little bit of both and that's what makes it great. This is an awesome read for everyone that likes a good steamy and comical story. Also wonderful seeing the rest of the crayon and flower gang too. - By Kristina
