First off, I need to start by saying I read this book in a day, literally. It is just that good! I didn’t let my daily distractions get in the way of this one.

This book is about a deaf woman named Charliee, that is a teacher at a special school for the deaf. Which is probably the smallest part of the book but you meet Charliee’s best friend Jayden there. The biggest part of the story happens between the two main characters, Charliee and Travis. Travis is a hunky firefighter, a tattooed sweetheart and all around a great guy. Charliee is a strong, independent woman with a sense of humor to match Travis’. Their story starts so quickly, the pull between them is instantaneous. If you love romance and love scenes then this is the book for you. You will love their relationship and how it develops. It unique being that the main character is deaf, but it makes you love Travis and Charliee that much more.

I don’t want to give anything away, everyone should be able to experience this story without going in knowing what happens. But I recommend that you go and get this book, spend the time because it is worth the read.

This was a good story. I loved the connection between Travis and Charliee. I kept wondering if we were gonna find out who the terrorist and we did towards the end. Travis helped Charliee to heal and this was their love story. Good start to the series.

I absolutely loved this book. Although there was a thread of suspense & tension running through it (a bit more on that later), the overwhelming majority of this book was simply the heartwarming path of two people falling in love. Just doing day to day things, with each other & occasionally family members. Sound boring? Well, I didn't think so & I am used to heavy, DARK & chaotic romances.
What was so wonderful & engaging about this book that I read straight through it without pause? A cast of characters that were NICE, ORDINARY, HARD WORKING people: not billionaires, not CEO's, not bad or mean or dishonest. To me, this story was a very welcome breath of fresh air, people who genuinely care for each other, who take pride in their careers & contributing to society in their individual ways. People who loved their parents, their siblings, who made their way through life~~ the good, the bad & the awful, just the way millions of people do, one day at a time & together.
A horrible incident brings Charliee (h), a teacher & Travis (H), a fireman, into each others orbit & though both feel a spark never felt before circumstances cause them to loose touch briefly. But Charliee's tenacity (w/the reluctant assistance of her policeman brother) locates Travis & they tentatively, at first, begin to form a relationship. The book chapters POV alternates between Charliee & Travis so the reader understands what thoughts are behind their decisions & feelings. But Travis & Charliee are nice loving people & what little angst there is in the story is thankfully brief, low key & reasonable.
The secondary characters are great too (& will figure in subsequent books of their own): Bryce & Derrick, Charliee's protective twin brothers, both policeman on the same force; Jayden, Charliee's best friend; Samantha, Travis' sister, as well as both sets of parents.
But there is suspense & tension in the story as someone is terrorizing the city in a way that has already killed many & there is no doubt more deaths are planned.
I heartily recommend this beautiful romance for readers who want to experience a love story of ordinary people who daily do extraordinary things by being there for their loved ones, listening to them & loving them.

It's been a while since I've had a 5 star read. This one is insta-love but incredibly well done. The dynamic between Charliee (deaf heroine) and Travis (hot af firefighter) was amazing. Most insta-love stories are done quickly and with a lot of sex, which is fine, but this one...geez the story line was even really good. One event crosses their paths and changes everything. Travis is amazing and Charliee is just...*sigh* one lucky girl.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Charliee Brooksman and Travis. All Charliee wanted was dinner from her favorite restaurant, a glass of wine, and nice long bath. Little did she know how drastically her plans would change from that. Travis has become the station cook or at least that is what his fellow firefighters keep telling him. This night however isn't the quite dinner they all had planned they are called out just as soon as they sit down to enjoy it. This night changes both their lives forever. Can they find a HEA or will the person who changed their lives forever make sure they never get that chance?

This is an amazing story. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Nothing like starting a series off with a boom. Literally. Charliee has just finished a crappy day at work, she goes to her favorite restaurant to pickup dinner with the plan to go home eat and have a good long soak in the tub. Sounds like a good night. However, some guy decides to bomb the restaurant as Charliee picks up her order and goes to walk out the door. Charlie has two older brothers - twins, Derrick and Bryce who are both cops and they arrive at the restaurant not knowing their sister is in the pile of rubble until two firefighters uncover her dog, Levi. One of the firefighters is Travis and he just cannot stop thinking of Charliee since that night. This is the great story of how Charliee and Travis find each other and move forward after the bombing as well as how Charliee is a key part in finding the bomber.

Charlee and Travis, not your regular romance but what a wonderful story.
They meet by accident and because of accident. It was bomb explosion in Charlee favorited restaurant, she was injured when stepping out.
Travis is firefighter, one of the first scene. He found her under rubble because her working dog was right to her.
Charlee is deaf, can talk and read the lips.
She has also this beautiful green eyes that pull Travis right in.
Love from the first sight?
Very emotional, enjoyable and engaging story.Love it!

Loved This Story

This is a new author for me and this book will be a keeper! Travis and Charliee's story was amazing!!!! Charliee is deaf and a school teacher along side her best friend. She also has a brilliant service dog named Levi and two twin hot cop older brothers. When an event endangers Charliee's life her rescuer, firefighter Travis, changes it. She must also deal with PTSD and the new feelings developing in her life. For Travis, he is amazed how the woman he rescues in that horrific event, has embedded herself into his soul so quickly.

This was a fantastic love story. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series.

I truly enjoyed this story from author Tonya Clark. I believe a story is only as powerful as its characters and Charlie and Travis leaped from the page. I love stories where the hero and heroine are immediately drawn to each other but have to overcome their own fears in addition to external obstacles. If you enjoy romances that has action, humor and heartfelt, I highly recommend this book. This is a new author to me and I am looking forward to reading more.

This is the first book by Tonya Clark that I've read and I loved it. Once I started reading I didn't stop until the book was finished.
The story was so different from your run of the mill fireman stories!
It had twists and turns, suspense, drama and yes, a beautiful love story built around it all.
Charlee is a strong woman. Not held back by anything or anyone. Travis meets her under the worst of circumstances and after that...well, let's just say his world will never be the same again!
Great read!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading a story with a deaf character. The sign language usage and lip reading were well described. Ensuring the characters faced each other was vital to accomplishing this, and you could tell the author knew how to write the scenes correctly. The traumatic experiences that brought Charliee and Travis together could have turned out worse. That Travis was willing to learn sign language and adapt to Charliee's world was endearing. I kept waiting for the inevitable plot twist, and I'm so glad it led to the HEA.

Dinner from her favorite resturant and a bath seems to Charlee the perfect way to end a stressful day at work. She never thought stepping into her favorite restaurant would change her life. Travis just another day at the station when the bells sound for an emergency and they roll. He never expected a woman and her dog could flip his world around.

This was a pretty good story. The connection between the 2 characters were good and believable. I enjoyed this one.

This is a sexy suspense read. The characters are well developed and authentic. There is a genuineness to the story, even the cover. The couple on the cover doesn't have the slickness of professional models which I liked. (maybe they were professionals??) And the h was inspired by the author's daughter who is legally deaf. I liked how deafness didn't overtake the story line. Great read.

She is tired after a long day at work and all she wants is to eat as well as having a bible bath. Tonight it is all about to change when she goes into the restaurant. He is shocked when she comes in with her dog and wham he is hit. Is this the start of a new romance? How will it all go? See if there will be a happy ending

Sometimes it's good to have a story about ordinary people in ordinary life. That's who they are. They have family and friends to support and love them. Mainly it's the story about 2 people with a connection and how that develops into love. There's some suspense and drama that helps the story along and yes the author includes plenty of details of what goes on behind closed doors. All around it's a good read which the author handles the challenges they both face with ease and grace.

Very sweet and enjoyable romance. Charliee is a young deaf woman who is seriously injured in a domestic terrorism explosion. Travis is a firefighter who helps rescue her from the rubble. They are attracted to each other and become romantically involved. The characters are well developed and likeable. Good story but without a lot of depth. I enjoyed it though and would recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm pretty sure I've never read a book with a deaf main character before and I wasn't sure how the author would make it work. I think they did well. I adored both main characters and the myster was exciting. Enjoy.
