Wizard scouts are the greatest fighting force the galaxy has ever seen, but after years of war between the Intergalactic Empire and the bat-like Crosoians, the wizard scout corps numbers have dropped to near extinction levels. One of the few remaining wizard scouts is Wizard Scout Richard Shepard.
In an all or nothing gambit, the bats have gathered the largest fleet of warships the galaxy has ever seen to destroy the weakened humans once and for all. The Empire’s only hope for survival may well lie on the shoulders of Richard and the crew of the recon ship Defiant.
Faced with the seemingly impossible task of ending the war before more are killed Richard must travel deep into the heart of the Crosoian Federation. Along with his elven bondmate Jeena and the rag-tag crew of the Defiant, Richard is forced to seek out the unlikeliest of allies; a Crosoian scout sworn to kill him and all he holds dear.
With a demon army poised to invade the three galaxies, the success of the Defiant’s mission depends on retrieving an artifact from the very pits of Hell itself. Can even a wizard scout prevail?

The magics and multi-dimensional action among a variety of beings is fascinating to read.
Recommended for older youth. Language is not rough by today's standard but is more so than I would want for early teens.
I slated book 7 in the series, as it was disjointed and hard to follow, thankfully 8 returned to how the previous 6 had been written and was a good read At times things do seem to take a lot more time to develop than you would expect, but otherwise the story is well paced and thought out The character interactions are becoming more instrumental is the outcome and at last the Demons are being taken seriously, both as serious adversaries and by the author
Ok, so not nearly as bad as I thought it might be. Good to see Richard finally flexing his magical muscles. Too bad it took nearly the entire book for him to do it. In any case, a good continuation of the story. If you're liking this story so far, this book will be no exception. Now, let's see what's in store for the next book.
After so long of not reading this series (hey, my reading list is long!) I just found out that there are five new books in this series! Picture me jumping around, settling on a couch, and happily reading! Onward to the next books!
A reasonable read, the usual bad grammar and spelling mistakes.over frequent use of "words spoken and quickly forgotten" - totally irrelevant to the story
