Bryce has liked Paige since they were little, but he never had the guts to act on his feelings. Paige is devastated over being dumped by her long-time boyfriend and can’t seem to move on. When the school’s resident mean girl calls Paige out on a phony claim to having a new man, Bryce steps in for the rescue. A fake relationship is the perfect opportunity for Bryce to show Paige how he really feels. And Paige is hoping her new “boyfriend” will make her ex insanely jealous. She’s always known Bryce is cute, sweet and charming. What she didn’t expect was to develop real feelings for him. Even with perfectly romantic conditions, Paige and Bryce are still nervous and holding back. That’s when fate sends an unlikely source to nudge them in the right direction. With a bit of good fortune and some serious prodding, Bryce and Paige just may get their happily ever after. Praise for Fate & Fortune "Fate & Fortune is such a cute, fun, lighthearted story. With charismatic characters and just a hint of intrigue it will keep you turning the pages." - Kelly Oram, best selling author of Cinder & Ella

The most important thing to know about me is that I'm basically a sixteen-year-old trapped in an adult's body. It's why I feel such a great connection to all of my characters and why I love to write romantic comedy. The kid in me just wants to be goofy. Besides being a writer; I'm a wife, mother of five, volleyball enthusiast and home decorating guru. My list of favorites includes: reading, Christmas, pedicures, dessert, steak, Arizona winters and most importantly, Diet Coke.

How cute are these books?! SO cute. And what a clever idea by the author! I loved everything about this two part book series. The characters were so well defined and individual. Their personalities were strong and I felt like I knew each one of them. The whole story played out just like a movie in my head. I LOVE when that happens.

The first book is about Paige and Bryce. Bryce has been loving Paige since he was little and has never acted on it. The book is told in the alternating views of Bryce and Paige so we get a very clear view of both of their feelings and ideas. There are some crazy things happening to them and it all seems to stem from a fortune teller at the fair. It was so fun to watch Bryce seize the moment and hold on for all he's worth. He and Paige are great characters.

BUT THEN, book two is about all the friends/siblings as they provide the back story of what was happening behind the scenes of book one. It's hilarious. There is so much going on in this book! It was all so fun and entertaining.

I'm so glad I didn't read the blurbs for these books. I loved the surprise it brought me as it all unfolded.

Content: some mild innuendo, talk of sex and waiting in general terms, kissing

Paige has just spent all summer moping about following a break up with her first boyfriend, Jason. She returns to school and has to face him and the girls he dated over the summer. Her friend, Bryce, agrees to pretend to be her new boyfriend to make dealing with Jason easier. Only, Bryce has had a crush on Paige since middle school and he isn't pretending. Fate wants them together and this fake-relationship might just be the push each of them needs to make it happen for real.

I was enjoying this story right up to the end. Even with all the teenage angst and ridiculous feelings, I liked the characters and the surprise element of magic that brings Paige and Bryce together. But one of my biggest pet peeves is when an author ends a book in a strange place. It might as well be in the middle of a sentence. It is not a cliffhanger and it is not a true (final) ending - it is somewhere in between, and it just bugs me. To make matters worse, I think the next book changes POVs completely but goes over the same time period, so the little adventure that Paige and Bryce cook up at the end of this book might not even be continued. Grrr.

A genie in a bottle...

What a creative tale! I love a story that can take me back in time, deliver a solid plot, and have strong, lifelike characters. Just so everyone knows, I felt like an honorary member of this group of friends and siblings. I wish so much that I could go back and have such a strong bond with my own sister.

At the end of summer, this group goes to a carnival and most of them visit a fortune teller. The results from that visit had me smiling and swooning, as good friends Bryce and Paige end up in a fake relationship. The magical elements were utterly charming and the chemistry almost melted my Kindle.

The characters rocked the book. The camaraderie, friendly banter, loyalty, and slight mystery gave this story a firm foundation for the flirting and drama and I adored the way everything played out.

My favorite things were the way the story alternated between Bryce's and Paige's points-of-view, while still heavily involving the supporting cast, and the swoony sweet romance.

This first book is a must read before diving into Kismet and Karma.

Content: mild+ romance (kissing, suggested sex/waiting for it, some light innuendo); mild violence

What a fun ride! I loved this group of friends and their distinct personalities. The dynamics of their sibling relationships, friendships, and romances unfolded throughout the book and I loved getting to know them. Bryce and Paige were so likeable that I couldn't help but root for them to get together. The ways that they were given opportunities to draw closer to each other were fun and obviously contrived- and because Paige and Bryce suspected someone was behind it all and not buying into the mystical but still playing along, it made it believable. They had amazing chemistry and there is just the right balance of angst, hope, and romance.

The second book (Kismet & Karma) revealed exactly how Eric, Kennedy, and Genie schemed and brought their two friends together. More complicated dynamics are revealed, including a secret romance and unrequited crush. This book showed the story from several perspectives, all in first person POV, but I liked it because it really got me into the heads of the characters and helped me connect with them. I loved this creative YA duo of books and can't wait for more from the author!

This was a cute, light, predictable read.

Boy likes girl - girl gets boyfriend - boyfriend breaks up with girl - boy becomes "fake" boyfriend to make ex jealous - girl starts to actually like boy - girl and boy become "real" boyfriend/girlfriend.

Then add some "magic" with a genie and a note in the bottle and you got yourself the entire book.

Loved this one. Daniels delivers her usual funny, witty banter with a touch of magic. Enjoyed beta-reading it so much, I read it twice!

OMG, this story totally rocks! – yes, yes already I found out that a parent shouldn’t use these words in front of their kids (aka in public?), but I couldn’t restrain myself 😉 It was quite a while since I gave 5 stars to a story… well, actually we have two stories… three...

Better to clear the water here: Fate & Future (nice and meaningful titles) is presented as a stand-alone, BUT, in order to get the whole “experience” you should read also and Kismet & Karma.

I totally liked the author’s approach to different POVs without repeating the initial story. Both volumes have the same characters, but their roles are different in each volume. The couple which is the center of the first book takes a half step back and let the spotlight to the former “secondary” characters who enjoy their own drama and have their own challenges to conquer. The author had the inspiration and used the story of the first couple (from the first volume) as reason, binding agent and fuel for all their stories that are tightly connected. And she did it great!

I liked all the characters; they feel real and also their life. I think that any adolescent could put herself or himself into any of the character’s shoes. This series gives a powerful hit to the “bad-boy” archetype and restores the good name and aura of the good ones. Don’t make a mistake: potential lovers or big brothers, these boys are good but not weak.

The stories flow easily. I (also) totally liked how the author kept the mystery about the possibility of magic: do we or do we not have to deal with it? One after another, the scenarios are changed and the doubt continues to confuse the F&F main protagonists and maintain my curiosity to see what kind of story will get at the end. There are no exaggerations and no “reality show” drama. In addition, as a plus, there are no empty declarations or “politically correct” attitudes that seem to flood the TV shows and literature in our days. The necessary lessons are offered in very subtle and still effective way.

Mixing love interests with funny situations and witty dialogues (and most important natural), Mrs. Daniels crafted stories which will captivate the readers and make them dream of or remember the sweet thrill of the first love.

Enjoy reading, I know I did!

Paige has spent the summer mooning over the guy who dumped her. Bryce has loved page as long as he can remember and now’s his opportunity. But how will he tell her?

During the first week of school, some strange things happen to both of these characters. Paige starts to see her friend in a whole new way and Bryce is gaining the confidence he never had where the girl of his dreams is concerned.

I couldn’t help but like this group of friends and family as they joke around, protect each other, and push each other to become better people. But like Bryce and Paige, I was sure there was something else going on.

Bryce and Paige have loved each other from afar for years. Everyone seems to know it, they both have feelings for each other but haven’t admitted it.
This book starts with the group heading to a fair. They get their fortunes told, and suddenly all manner of crazy things start happening. Messages in a bottle with poems, and a genie granting wishes.
While all this is going on, Bryce offers to act as ‘fake’ boyfriend to Paige. This set-up prompts the inevitable.
From the off it’s clear where this is going. Much is made of the supposed mystical element, but there’s many allusions to events that indicate their group of friends are meddling in things and trying to set them up.
A large cast of characters which made it difficult to maintain focus on the key event, though it did give some relief to the over-obvious relationship.

Typical love story

This book is about Paige and Bryce. Paige is recovering from her recent break up from her ex boyfriend Jason. Bryce is in love with Paige but she doesn't know it. When their friends accidently land them in it Bryce and Paige come up with a fake relationship. However along the line they come across magical encounters that they think is perpetrated by their friends. Will their relationship be a success or will their friends crumble under the pressure. Who is behind this scheme.
Paige is unsure on how she feels about Bryce but all becomes clear as the fakeship carries on. There are so many questions left unanswered. Are they going to find out who is behind it and what revenge are they going to take? I look forward to the next instalment.
My favourite character is genie I think she has some sass
My least favourite character is Zach I think he has caused trouble where it wasn't needed

Reviewed for YA Books Central.

Such a cute story.

The Story:
Paige is heartbroken after her boyfriend of two years breaks up with her. Little does she know, one of her best friends has been in love with her since they were kids. But Bryce won't do anything about it and the rest of their friends/siblings are tired of waiting for both Bryce and Paige to realize what they could have. So, they cook up this crazy scheme and it might just work.

What I loved:
These characters are just so darn cute. I really related to Paige and the struggles she goes through with her first heartbreak. Bryce is about as sweet as can be. He's the kind of guy you always want in your corner, as a friend or something more.
The plot is a ton of fun, mixing fake magic with hilarious scheming. I laughed out loud more than a few times. The writing style is easy to read and it's a story that doesn't take long to suck you in.

What was just okay:
I don't have anything to say here. I liked it all.

Final Verdict:
A fun story about a group of friends who love each other and root for each other, making the reader wish they could live in their world, where the most exciting thing is the possibility of falling in love.

This was a fun read full of families, best friends, and teen romance. Everyone in the group of friends had some possible romance happening, but this story just focuses on Paige and Bryce.

The story begins on the first day of school. Paige had been depressed all summer because her 2 year long boyfriend had broken up with her. She tried to hold it together, but her emotions were rough when she saw her ex at lunch with another girl.

Bryce had been her friend for years and had secretly liked her. He happily stepped in to be her fake boyfriend. It’s fun to hear from both of these characters during their fake/new relationship.

Overall this was a fun read, but there was some annoying teenage boy jokes that I would’ve liked out of the book.

If you like clean teen romance with some possible magic then I recommend your read Fate & Fortune by Robin Daniels.

Content:
Sexual: mild (kisses)
Language: none
Violence: very mild

I wanted to like this more than I did. The plot was good, but the writing was odd. The characters fixate on strange things, have weird reactions (and overreactions), and ask oddly specific questions that only seem to drive the plot. The kids use phrases that teenagers wouldn't be likely to be familiar with (and probably wouldn't even be a big part of their parents' vocabulary), and then sound like they're about twelve.
I liked the friendship dynamic, but the relationships weren't very developed, so it came off as surprising when a select few would interact as if they were close.
Even though it was predictable, I wanted to know what happened, and if the library had the second one, I'd probably read it too. It was just hard to enjoy it with those elements constantly breaking the flow.

Loved it!

If it says " by Robin Daniels", you need to read it. You will not be disappointed. Fate and Fortune is a prime example of that theory. Daniels writes likeable characters (Bryce, my, lordy *swoon) in a style that so captivates and enthralls, you forget you have work the next day. The little kiss of mysticism brings a different edge to Fate and Fortune that was not seen in her Perfectly series. This book has you wondering is it fate or just good friends. I cannot wait for the next in the series. I may have to go stalk Robin Daniels' facebook page to beg and plead for an ARC. Definitely read Fate and Fortune!

Cute romance

Nice read with likeable characters, but a little tedious sometimes. The main characters seemed a little dumb sometimes, but perhaps that's just because this book catches typical teenage behaviour better than the average YA book ;-)

Also, I didn't like that the book condoned and even promoted violence among the students! It's not cool or romantic when a guy punches another guy to defend a girl's honour! And I think it's sad that this book teaches young readers otherwise.

But all in all, a nice read and I'm looking forward to the next book and seeing everything from the other characters' perspective.

Super cute story!! I loved it! Fast-paced, clean romance. Fun characters and loads of humour throughout. There will be a continuation to the story but it can be read as a stand-alone too. Not a big cliffhanger ending so it’s not like there’s a huge rush to find out what happens next. However, I can see that the books would have to be read in order because of the characters. I will definitely be reading the next book and I’m looking forward to it. This is a really fun YA read. I highly recommend it.

Alright, so I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I know there's a companion novel. I do. But I'm just not sure if I can bring myself to read it. I really liked Bryce and Paige and I thought they were super cute, but I really hated how short the timeline was. And again guys I KNOW there's a companion novel. I just wish the author didn't leave SO much information out. It would have been nice to get at least some clues to what happened; there's literally so much that wasn't explained.

Just Ok

I usually like Robin Daniel's book. But this book dragged on forever. The author usually has a tendency to be slow pace and drag things out and I'm able to overlook it but this time I just couldn't ignore it. I thought it was great until I thought it didnt..I just stopped reading half way and skipped to the end.

I enjoyed this book ....kind of on a ya romance kick at the moment. This book was sweet, humorous at times, and not cheesy without calling it self out on it. The bottle and the genie was a nice little touch though

Cute, sweet romance. There were many characters that were introduced at once. I would have liked more if this series concentrated more on a couple and a little less on what is going on around them with the others characters and their relationships, family and romance wise. Reading #2 next.

A great light hearted read

This is a great read, but it's hard not to root for young love. Paige is a humble character who from start to finish you'll love.

This book was pretty good! The way the author told this story was great, I wasn’t too sure about a genie in a bottle but it’s not all it seems to be. I love books with friends to love romance. I’m currently on the second book and it’s even better!

This story was cute. The fortune telling device was awkward at times. The ending of the book totally disappointed me. It also had the effect that I don’t want to read book 2.
