Faith Blum's stories are so simple to read and quite enjoyable! I love how her titles are hymn names!

The characters in this one were great. I really liked Jason, but I have to say Jessa really got to me most of the time. I liked his parents, and Grandma Beulah was so sweet! I would have liked to see more of her for sure!

I loved the salvation message in this book! We need more like this! And the western-feel is pretty great too.

Recommended for any age!

I feel like this was the kind of story I hadn’t read before. It really drew me in, but it was different.

I have to admit the beginning was slightly confusing for me, but the author really started the story out in a good place to show us where Jason was spiritually as well as how Jessa was straying from honorable behavior in that day and age (such as dancing, overuse of makeup, etc.) Honestly, the way the novella was written in a simple way that really worked for me because I wasn’t as distracted, if that makes sense. I am sometimes prone to focusing on words themselves rather than the meaning behind them. (Does that make sense? :P)

The message was clearly the focus of the book, and I found myself recognizing that multiple times throughout the whole book, which was a very welcome surprise for me. I really love stories that have a wonderful theme! What I learned from Jessa (and the author) is that it’s never too late to discover the Lord and ask him for forgiveness, regardless of what horrible crimes/sinful acts you had committed.

Romance was a part of this story, but it was not bad or inappropriate at all, and the author handled this quite nicely. Still, it’d probably be better for a young teen to read instead of someone younger than that as it touches on courting and attraction, etc. Honestly though, if you like some romance sprinkled in, then this would really be the perfect read for you!

I really enjoyed this little novella and I am totally going to look out for more from Faith Blum!
