We know Bunny and his friends love to read, and they love spending Saturdays at the library, doing all kinds of things. One Saturday, Bunny's friend Josie is feeling a bit down. She's about to begin school and is afraid she won't make any friends. Later, Bunny comes up with a plan to go to school and be Josie's friend, but along the way all the book club members decide to join him. At school, they begin to look for Josie, but each animal gets distracted by all the different things to do in school - arts and crafts, singing, gym, eating lunch. Finally only Bunny is left looking for Josie, that is, until he discovers the library and all his favorite books. By the time the book club finds Josie, she's playing in the schoolyard with her new friends. But that doesn't mean she isn't thrilled to see her library pals, and soon, everyone is friends with everyone else. Bunny's plan is hatched because of Josie's first day of school jitters, but the book isn't really about that. It is a sweet story but it is more of a celebration of libraries (public and school), reading, friends, and finding your niche. Mai-Wyss' colorful illustrations are detailed and expressive, and really display a nice sense of humor. This is a book that is sure to appeal to kids will share Josie's jitters, and those who liked the first book, Bunny's Book Club, will enjoy these further adventures of Bunny and Co.
First day jitters are a common state of being for anyone at any age. If it's your first day at a new school, those jitters are amplified. You have new subjects to learn. You have new children to meet, and, hopefully, friendships to grow. You have a new teacher and other educators in the building to understand. It's tad bit daunting to say the least.
One of the most soothing solutions to first day jitters is to share these worries with a friend. Shared worries shrink. In Bunny's Book Club (Doubleday Books for Young Readers, February 7, 2017) written by Annie Silvestro with illustrations by Tatjana Mai-Wyss, we met a group of friends who bonded over their love of books, reading and one library in particular. In a companion title, Bunny's Book Club Goes To School (Doubleday Books for Young Readers, June 18, 2019), created in collaboration by Annie Silvestro and Tatjana Mai-Wyss, readers welcome back the charming creatures and their new human friend, Josie. Josie and readers will realize friendship extends beyond four familiar walls and into new places with new people.
When Bunny's friend Josie is nervous to start school, Bunny decides she needs a friend. Then, he realizes that heis her friend. So, he heads off to school, and along the way his friends decide to join him. It's totally unrealistic, but kids will love it and the illustrations are gorgeous. Besides, who can't relate to needing a friend? A great group read aloud!

Bunny and his forest friends love to go to the library every Saturday. Not only has the library given them many book adventures but Bunny has also found a new friend, Josie. Bunny and Josie love to sit in the chair together reading and recommending books. Josie admits to Bunny one Saturday that she is worried about starting school next week. “What if I don’t make any friends?” worries Josie. That night Bunny devises a plan to help his good friend, Josie! Read to find out Bunny’s plan and how all of the forest animals pitch in to help.
Bunny's Book Club Goes to School is beautifully illustrated and detailed. This charming story not only explores friendship but also examines the different aspects of a typical elementary school day. From P.E. to music class, nervous new students will get insight into what to expect with their first week of school.
Bunny and his other animal friends love meeting at the library each Saturday. Not only do they have a chance to find new books, but there are many activities and pastimes for the animals. They can even make friends with some of the human patrons. And that's just what Bunny does when he gets to know Josie. When Josie shares her fears about starting at a new school and not being able to make any friends, Bunny is surprised. After all, Josie is so easy to like that he can't imagine the other students not wanting to be her friend. Still, he decides to provide support for Josie and go to school himself. When the other animals realize what he plans to do, they accompany him, and all nine forest animals head to school. Once they enter the school building, one by one, the animals get distracted by all that the school has to offer, but they don't find Josie. Not surprisingly, Bunny ends up in the school library, dazzled by the many shelves of books in its collection. As the other animals join him, they can see into the playground where Josie is having fun with her classmates. Not only has Josie made plenty of new friends, but so have the other animals as they join in on the playground fun. I'm sure this is a first day of school that none of them will forget. The softly-colored illustrations and simple text are inviting, and help youngsters see libraries as sanctuaries while also alleviating fears about the first day of school in a new place. If Josie can do it, so can the rest of us. It might be good to share this book with youngsters before the first day of school or as they embark on a new adventure or travel to an unfamiliar place.
I loved Bunny's Book Club and when I saw this sequel come out I ordered it right away. My daughter is starting school soon so the timing was perfect and I was excited to read it.
However the book was a letdown for me. The pictures are great but the story is verging on nonexistent.
We are introduced to Bunny's friend Josie who starts school and is worried about making friends. What seems like a promising story about friendship somehow turns into a variant of Hippos Go Berserk!. In the end, it's just a book that lists things you can do in school and I feel it could've been so much more. It doesn't address the worries about starting school nor does it show Josie making friends. The book basically ignores the setup, shows some cute pictures and ends with Josie having a bunch of friends already.
I am not surprised that the average rating for this book has dropped below 4 stars. It is beautiful but I would not recommend it.
A little girl who has joined Bunny's book club at the library every Saturday shares her worries about going to school with Bunny. Bunny decides to go to school so she'll have at least one friend. The other animals want to go too. Will they be able to find Josie at school and help her, or will they cause a ruckus?
Kids will likely find the idea of a group of forest animals invading school delightful. The story is very sweet. I like how all the various animals have their own interests and get distracted by different areas of school (because of this, the book introducing several of the different subjects that school offers). I though the animals were going to cause more mayhem than they did, but considering the animals can talk to Josie, I guess animals and humans in this world interact more than in reality. Recommended to readers who love friendship stories, animal lovers, and those beginning school.
Starting school for the first time can be a little scary, but if you have a group of friends like the adorable creatures in Bunny's Book Club backing you up, that can be a big help. This cute picture book is a nice follow-up to Bunny's Book Club. Bunny and his friends love hanging out at the library on Saturday. When their friend, Josie, tells them she's starting school the next day and that she's a bit nervous, Bunny decides to go along for support. As he goes along the way, the rest of the animals join him. While they're searching for Josie at the school, they all become distracted by all of the awesome things at school: gymnasium games, music, lunch, the art room, and of course, the library. This would be a fun book to share with young readers at the beginning of the school year when everyone could use a little encouragement.
I was a big fan of Bunny's Book Club as it celebrated a love of libraries and reading. The gang is back in a sequel that focuses on helping their friend Josie survive her transition to a new school. The animals love all their opportunities to learn in the school and make a lot of new friends. Bunny finds his way to the school library and discovers his loving of reading there. It's a great story to welcome new students and to celebrate all the great things that happen in schools including finding new friends.
I loved this book and it would be a great read for the first week of school. Many students are nervous about going to school and this book highlights the adventure of animals to make their human friend feel better at school. Most people would love to have their animal friends at school so children should be able to relate. I also like that this book emphasizes the importance of reading and how they all met at a library and have their favorite genres. This is a really sweet book and I am sure kids will enjoy it because the animals get into some trouble along the way!
In this sequel to Bunny's Book Club, the characters, now a group, act on behalf of their human friend. Their intentions are good, though they get a bit distracted. and the author cleverly introduces agency for the little girl even though Bunny is still the main character. provides a gentle but positive message for anyone who has ever had first day jitters. Sweet illustrations with an inviting palette and adorable character designs. not as wonderful as the first but a nice follow up to create a series.
Really enjoyed this book . The main idea was fantastic . The bunny saw that his friend was worried about school . He wanted to help make her happy and let her know that she did have friends .My 5 year old even knew that it was nice that the bunny was looking out for his friend . He also found it very funny !! He laughed multiple times . Especially when the porcupine has crafts all in her quill . Loved it !
This adorable follow-up to Bunny's Book Club brings young readers back to the library with Bunny and his crew. When a new friend, Josie, is a nervous about her first day of school, the animals decide to surprise her there. Bunny and his pals have an adventure as they explore the school in search of Josie. Any child who has been nervous or unsure when starting something new will relate to this book. The soft illustrations complement the text perfectly.
From the author of the beloved Bunny's Book Club. Bunny's buddy Josie is about to start school and she's nervous. Bunny is determined to help her and be a good friend. All of the other animals want to help out, too. Great for kids starting school. Look for a friend and anything hard will be easier!
This book is a superb follow up to Bunny’s Book Club, and a great one to add to your back-to-school book collection. As Bunny and the other forest animals follow their new friend Josie to school, readers will learn all about the fun and exciting activities involved in a school day, from art to gym to library time. Bunny’s Book Club Goes to School is sure to soothe back-to-school jitters.
josie is starting school, and is worried about making new friends. Bunny decides that since he is Josie's friend he will go to school on the first day to cheer Josie up. Bunny is joined by all of his other friends Bear, Raccoon, Squirrel, Mole, Mouse, Bird, Porcupine, and Frog, and make Josie's first day of school quite special, and memorable.
I love Annie Silvestro's work. Her books never disappoint me. It's a lovely story about Bunny's Book Club and them helping out a human friend who's nervous about going to school. The illustrations are wonderful and adorable.
Still cute but I loved the first one more since it was more centered on the mission to read books. This one wasn’t really about reading as much as I think it should be. I know it’s for children and I’m sure they will enjoy it though.
A sweet little picture book (second in a series) that's perfect for children thinking through navigating relationships as they are starting school. Old friends and new come together.
